I was pondering if it was possible to have a guestbook option, to turn on/off that people can post pictures/gifs and/or smilies in your guestbook. While I love them, sometimes they just clutter everything.

It's not something that I think is necessary, but it would be enjoyable and I thought I toss the idea out there.

I'm in favor of this. I generally don't like images in my GB comments, with the exception of a few, and I feel like a jerk deleting them when they do pop up. I'd rather disallow images in my guestbooks instead. (Much like how smileys are disabled in widgets)

Yes, that is why I had the idea for it. I love guestbook comments and gifs, but I feel bad if I delete them.
I third this notion.

I do think they are fun sometimes, but I really don't like seeing them spammed like most people have been doing.

I think it's a good idea. If anything, you could bold your text in your guestbook area and say that you do not want images. I did that for a while and it worked swimmingly. Until they come out with a really cool option like this, I think it would be the next best option!
*muse muse* I kind of like the sound of these, even if it's not a problem I deal with often. Asking as someone who has no coding knowledge, how would that work? Would the option's coding detect image tags and disable them/the post? *grabs chair, sits down, prepares to learn a new thing!*

Yea I plan on doing that too, but the problem is - I already have my guestbook full of gifs.
And I do not dare to delete them all. If people read that I do not like them, but see them, I think it would be confusing xD

That pretty much sounds like what I'd expect it to do! Right now the img tags are converted into HTML when the post is displayed on the site. I assume disabling images will just result in the img tags not being converted. That, or the comment can be refused to be posted if it detects the img tags. There are multiple ways to do it!

Oooh, fascinating! :3 Is that how it works for disabled smilies, too?

I'm going to guess it is. I don't actually know how Kim coded it, but it seems like the most likely case to me! :)
