I am curious to see how many people have actually heard of this game, played it, and love it or hate it. Personally i believe it was one of the greatest games iv ever played and i hold it above a lot of next gen games in terms of story line, gameplay, length, and more.
Who hasn't? I mean, it was groundsbreaking for its age, even if the voice acting was kinda choppy in it. Good music, good story, good time investment... tried to make the lead a little too much like Cloud but we can get over that. Sony did a good thing with it.
First RPG I ever played And I still have it.
I remember a little while before it came out. I was freaking out since for several years prior, I had a species/race for RPing/stories called "dragoons." I was young and just amazed at the (not so unexpected) coincidence. I loved the game and have been meaning to play it again all the way through, but for me it's hard to get past the part where Lavitz dies.
I've played a little bit of it at a friend's house, but I never owned it or got to extensively play. It was a cool game though, from what I remember of it!
Well, Heimdall, Legend of Dragoon didn't start the popular use of that name. In FF4, there was Kain the Dragoon. I think earlier FFs even had Dragoons. I at least remember FF3 had the class.
Yea Heimdall, that part sucked!
Dragoons were around in real life as Lancers and such before video games
Behold, dragoons!
But yeah, played the game back in the day. It was alright, but I never did end up playing it all the way through - remember to getting some kind of sea-side town-ish thing and then never really continuing. It was a good game for what was available at the time for RPGs in that generation of gaming, but I never felt it reached the sort of heights that Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger got to.
(Heck, I never felt Final Fantasy VII reached that kind of height, so maybe I'm a bit biased. )

Legend of the Dragoon? Seriously? That was the game that got me hooked on the RPG genre and by extension, got me into RPing. I just wish I still had it. It's possibly thenonly RPG I like better than the final fantasy series. And I almost obsess over FF.
Best game ever. Period.
I am so in love with that 4-disc madness. The quality of the story and gameplay still amazes today. It was the first and one of the few games that ever managed to drag out so much emotiosn from inside me. In my opinion it still is the best turn-based RPG ever made and one of the few I've actually finished.
Heimdall, that part gets so much to me too. I'm glad they did it though, not many stories have the balls to do stuff like that.

First time I played it I was 14. And I stayed up for about 30 hours straight just playing. Didn't eat. Didn't sleep. Didn't go to the bathroom. Next thing I knew, my playstation and tv were turned off, and the controller put away and me covered in my blankets. I passed out playing it. When i woke up my grandma told me she came in my room and I was asleep sitting up still pressing buttons on the controller.
I know that LoD didn't invent dragoons or anything. XP I made up my version of them after playing FF4, actually. (My first character was named Kain as well.) I haven't played FF3 (I don't pretend to be a HUGE fan of the series) so I wouldn't know if they were any earlier than that. I remember scouring the dictionary and finding the real meaning of the term too (and being a little disappointed XP)! But FF4-Kain wasn't really dragon-themed other than his armor... the word just really inspired me. LoD really tickled my interest since that WAS heavily dragon-y.
And it was so good, argh! I think we can all have a moment of silence for the one I mentioned. His replacement was okay, but... but... ! :SOB:
Lance, did you miss any of the story?

I liked his replacement, but... yeah, you can't just simply replace that guy. He was awesome.
Nope. My last save was before i passed Out so I got to go back and play what I sleep played. Heh. Didn't miss much. Ultimately wound up doing one of those walking into walls thing going by what my grandma told me. Heh.
I loved this game!
I think ff9 also had Dragoon in its way to. Freya was one i believe. Hahaha Lance, i did the same thing, stayed up for as long as possible playing when i got it.
Yup, Freya was a classic FF dragoon: spear wielder and jump attacks. She was an AWESOME character too.
