I've noticed since the patch today that the option of having page navigation for Group sites is no longer there. The option to have a vertical or horizontal navigational bar seems to have been removed and this saddens me. I liked having the option and the formatting on my Group's pages were formatted to work with the vertical sidebar. I remade it sort of with the 'Universal Widgets' thing, but now I have double navigation and it's disappointing.

It would be great to see the choice to have an option return.

Unfortunately, it will not be coming back. As mentioned in the patch notes, this decision was made because having the nav/toolbar options be in inconsistent places caused a great deal of confusion and resulted in many requests for help and bug reports being submitted by people who couldn't figure out how to get around in groups that used the optional nav location. The site being easy to use and as little frustrating as possible is a major value for me, and sometimes, that means keeping things in consistent places so people can re-use what they've learned elsewhere.

If the option came back, we'd be right back where we were before, making groups harder for many people to join and navigate. Plus, time I'm answering bug reports for people who can't find the nav is time I'm not programming new features or planning events or fixing actual bugs.

That's legitimately disappointing to hear. I guess I'll have to fudge with the formatting of my group pages again.
