It was sunrise in a forest that was millennium old and inside that forest was a river with crystal clear water that shimmered with the gentle sunlight. An menagerie of colorful blossoms could be seen growing all around and soft birdsong could be heard if one was quiet. All in all, it appeared to be a forest that had been left untouched by man and had an almost magical quality about it. Of course if one had known about this forest's special occupant then one would be left with conflicted thoughts about this natural beauty.
For while unicorns were known to bring great health and vitality to the forests they lived in, the unicorn that live here wasn't a normal unicorn. This was the forest that sheltered a black unicorn, a unicorn deemed to be impure by the rest of her species. How could such a creature be responsible for such beauty?
The unicorn in question was watching the other animals eat and graze from the shadows of the trees that grew along the riverbank. Unlike some creatures, these animals were welcoming of her presence and enjoyed the bounty that her existence brought to the forest. For despite what had been said about her, Impuria's presence was actually a boon to this ancient forest.
Yet despite the company of the forest animal's Impuria couldn't help, but feel lonely as there was no one that she could really talk to. She could communicate with the other animals, but their thoughts were rather simple and not at all intellectually stimulating. It was at times like these that her lovely forest felt like nothing more then a gilded cage.

The young man had seldom seen so pristine a forest as this. Parks and man-made trails were all well and good, but there was something truly magnificent about a place to remote, a place requiring so much effort to find and to reach.
He had been hiking for days, his clothes muddied, his smiling face dusted with the salt of dried sweat. He eventually reached a clearing next to the river and thought this would be as good a place as any to stop and rest.
Dropping his backpack to the gravely riverbed, he fished through its content to bring out a longish, black container. He opened it and assembled the three pieces of silvery metal so that they formed a flute. He found a boulder to sit on, took a deep breath, and blue into the instrument, letting it give off a long, warbling sigh through the forest.

Impuria's ears twitched when she heard the sound of a flute play. Flute music? Here? She couldn't even remember the last time she had heard anything other then the sounds of nature. She moved further down the riverbank through the cover of shadows and never once so much as crushed a single flower under her hoofs.
The second that the human playing the flute came into view, she froze. Impuria was a shy creature, but she was especially shy when it came to human males. She backed up a few steps and then leaped into the tall brush nearby. Yet when she leaped, the sun met her shiny ebony hide and gave off a very brief shine that was likely to unintentionally draw the attention of anyone who managed to glimpse it. While one was unlikely to make out the exact shape of the darkly colored unicorn from either the brushes or from that shimmer, one would still be able to tell that something was there.

The young man noticed a glint from the corner of his eye. Did someone else come all the way out here? No, it was too quick, it had to have been an animal of some kind. He stopped playing and considered what he aught to do. While he wanted to see this creature, whatever it was, he knew that poking his hands into unfamiliar territory was a foolish endeavor.
While still burning with curiosity, he raised his flute to his lips once more, his eyes fixed on the bush where he last caught a glimpse of the creature. The song he commenced to play was different, more rhythmic, like a march. It sounded even more like one when he began lightly stamping his heels into the gravel around him to the beat of his flute music.
Many other creatures began to come out of the woodwork. Rodents, birds, even fish leaped about in the water to the sound of the piper's flute, but the creature in the bushes remained there. The young man stopped playing, seeing that, whatever creature that was, it was clearly no mean animal.

(Could you maybe post him having switch to a more relaxing song?)
He decided to change his approach. If a direct approach wouldn't work, perhaps something more gentle could coax it out of hiding.
Again readying his flute, the young piper let out a low, gentle lullaby instead. As he played, he dropped his razor-like gaze on the bushes, but all the same kept one eye open in its direction.

(Thank you.)
Impuria listened as the musician changed the music to something march like and was surprised at the animal's reaction to it. It was as if all manner of creatures wanted to be closer to the source of the music, abandoning any instincts they might have to be wary of humans and she herself could even feel it beckon her. However the music's call wasn't at all strong enough to drive her from her hiding place and so there she stayed.
She watched him as she played that march and waited to see what kind of fate would befall the animals who had been lured in by it's siren like call. Yet nothing would happen to them which was a good thing, yet still wasn't enough to coax her out.
As if the young man recognized this, he gave up on playing the current song and proceeded switched to something softer...something gentler. The man's decision would be rewarded by a very slight rustle from the brush made by her horn as it brushed the plant when she moved her head slightly closer.
Finally after about fifteen minutes of playing, the man would receive a far greater reward. For his music managed to soothe the shy Impuria enough to move both her head and neck free of the brushes. However any sudden movement by him at this point would be enough to frighten her back into hiding.

(I assumed that he would keep playing when he got a little feedback. Hope you don't mind, and if you did, please let me know.)
(perfectly fine)
The young piper's eye caught sight of the creature. Upon seeing the creature's majestic horn, his stopped cold. He had no idea that such creatures existed, or even could exist, and yet here it was.
He was at a complete loss. The sight of this creature was too great an impossibility for him to know how to respond to it actually happening. He couldn't even speak. Even looking directly at the creature seemed like too bold a move. Playing his flute for so long had tired him out, but it was all he could think of to do, even now.
He was so tired, but he forced his lips to play on. This time, rather than a song, he played short little phrases, pausing often as if trying to talk to it with gentle words of music.

At first Impuria neither further approached or retreated, but just stood as she was, watching him with shy, yet intelligent eyes. With a bit more time however, she finally chose to abandon the brush entirely by gently walking out one soft step at a time.
Jerry could now fully see the creature that he had exhausted himself, the being that he had deemed to be too great an impossibility. Her wings were folded to her sides and her head was held in an arch. It was clear by her appearance that she was female, tho if one could actually notice such things at the time was completely up in the air as he was in such a shock.
Impuria continued to watch him warily, but it was now safe to stop playing, but one would still have to be very careful as to how he moved still. The way she looked at him almost gave the impression that he was to make the first move. It was a move that would be heavily judged and it was almost obvious that he would only have one chance.
(Sorry for how dramatic things are, but she is a very flighty creature. Also I consider her to be both a creature and a being in case you were curious. xD)

Jerry lowered his flute, not daring to look directly at the creature. It was right there in full view. The mere thought of this paralyzed him. Even so, he turned his head slowly to meet this creature's gaze and smiled.
Even without the magnificent horn, even without those wondrous wings, the creature's body was a spectacle in its own right. Lean and smooth, the paragon of all equine creatures, the mythical ideal of horses had presented itself to him. Now how to respond to this?
He slid off the rock very slowly and sat down on his knees. He didn't dare close the distance between them. He knew ordinary creatures were flighty, how much more so would this one be? No, instead, he bowed low before this creature, and spoke soft, gentle words.
"You are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

(Have to go. I'll be back later.)
(later!)
Impuria watched as he lowered his flute, but didn't retreat which was a good sign. However once he slid down the rock, she backed up a space which revealed just how flighty she was. A gentle breeze then came up and softly blew her black mane back as a few moments were passed in silence.
When he both bowed and called her beautiful, she tilted her head and likely surprised him yet again.
"I? Beautiful? I have been called many things, most unkind, but never beautiful." Her voice while very pleasant, was a complete contradiction, for all at once it sounded both young, yet old and calm, yet sad. He would also notice that he didn't hear her voice with his ears, but instead with his mind. All in one day, he had experienced so many things that were believed to be impossiblle, would there be a limit to all of boundaries that would be broken during this one single day?

It--she spoke. Jerry, once again, was speechless. A good thing, perhaps, as nothing he could have said would have adequately expressed his bewilderment, wonder, or terror.
He kept his head low, for fear of provoking it, but he began to shiver. "What are you talking about? I've never seen anything like you. You're like--I don't even know how to describe you. W-what--" He paused to compose himself before proceeding. He took long, deep breaths, making sure not to fiddle too much with his stressed muscles, let his hands relax. "Just what are you?"

(Sorry that was so short, but that's really all I had)
(Not feeling good, but I promise that I will get out a post today, probably when I get up in the morning.)
(Would you mind if I have some poachers show up? Obviously not unicorn poachers, but you get the idea.)
((go right ahead. I'm sorry, I didn't see the post. I'll set up better alerts now))
At first it looked like Impuria was looking at Jerry, but then one could tell that she was actually looking past him towards civilization. "A unicorn is considered to be a scared beast and among the purest of all life. Yet who has ever heard of a black unicorn?"
She then looked over Jerry and said. "I haven't seen a human in a very long time, but I have never see such clothes as those. They are normally far more drab and shabbier. I would think you a lord, but then I would normally see a horse."
(I thought i would give Jerry an idea of just how old Impuria is and just how long it has been since she has seen a human.)
