Thanks to the recommendation of a friend of mine, I recently installed the extension "Lazarus". It's a Form Recovery tool that basically stores your text when you write in a textbox (posts on RPR for example, or large texts in profile widgets) for x minutes/days/hours. In the settings you can adjust the storage duration, encrypt and password protect the data and so forth.
In the event your browser closes or refreshes, crashes or your power goes out, it's a matter of simple clicking to restore what you typed.
