So, I took notice of all the different types of soda, I personally love Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pip. Me and my sister were talking about this yesterday and are trying to see which one is more popular: Pepsi or Dr. Pepper?
I vote Dr. Pepper..
I vote Dr. Pepper as well.
Dr. Pepper, but I've actually grown more into Coca-Cola than anything else. Still, both of these are better than Pepsi to me lol.
No mention of Coca-Cola? What sort of soda blasphemy is this!?
Okay, okay, in all seriousness, I choose Pepsi over Dr Pepper, but only when Coca-Cola isn't available. Even then, I prefer Cherry Coke over everything--even the classic!
On the flip side, there's colas (dark sodas as have been the subject of this topic), lemon-lime sodas, Ginger Ales, malts, root beer, &c. I stick to colas the most, but I do enjoy a good lemon-lime drink (especially limeades). 'Cola' doesn't just denote Coca-cola, either. Coca-cola's name simply makes note of its original form: a cocaine-laced cola drink; event then, its cocaine contents would've required a person to consume amounts of the drink that greatly exceed what is normal on a day-to-day basis.
The more you know! *rainbows*

Dr.P-3 Pepsi-1
I don't like Coca-Cola, it dries out my throat. I like their vanilla Coca-cola though! I like a lot of different sodas but I don't drink them a lot, too many calories and my parents want to make sure me and my sis don't become accustomed to having them and all the bad that comes with that need for a daily caffeine intake. Nice fact about Coca-cola, isn't against the law to use cocaine in food or drink products though?

Actually the drink was a syrup first. A cough medicine that was laced with small amounts of cocaine in the late 1800's, at which time it was normal for medicine to be laced with all sorts of drugs and alcohol. When I mean small amounts though, I mean "by 1902 it was as little as 1/400 of a grain of cocaine per ounce of syrup". Nowadays you won't find cocaine in the soda anymore, it's artificially flavored.

Exactly, hence my references to its cocaine contents in the past-tense. But thank you for those quick stats, Sanne! I honestly couldn't remember the numbers nor could I be bothered to do my civic duty and Google 'em. *lazy*

Always happy to serve mankind with my Google-fu!
Also Kuro, the reason Coca-Cola dries out your throat is because there's more sugar in it than in Pepsi which makes you thirstier. That's the main difference between the two colas. However, as far as taste goes, they're pretty much the same, it's strictly the sweetness that makes it different to people.
Interesting fact: people who claim there are more differences are usually fooled by branding. Drinks can taste like crap, but if the brand is popular and the ads are good, then people will subconsciously 'like' the drink. If you put a generic supermarket brand cola in a Pepsi bottle, most people will not notice any difference. The reason it tastes like Pepsi to them is because they think they're drinking Pepsi. The difference will once again just be different amounts of sugar content in most cases.
I stopped buying brand sodas because I stopped being able to taste the difference once I realized this. The few times I opt for sodas, I go for the cheapest brand diet coke possible. The only reason I buy brand sodas is because the flavors are not available for the cheap brands. e.g. Cherry or vanilla coke.
In any case, I stopped drinking sodas overall. Now I occasionally get a can of diet soda, or mix carbonated water with fruit juices to make my own. I'm a diabetic so drinking non-diet sodas makes me feel like shit, and the diet sodas aren't really good for you either. It's an occasional treat, nothing more.
Pfft, I only drink New Coke, Crystal Pepsi, or Jolt.
Peasants.
Peasants.
I'm a Dr. Pepper person, but Mist hates it. He favors Coke, and tolerates Pepsi.
I'm a Sprite person.
Of course, I've had this thing for Crystal Geyser Juice Squeeze Blackberry Pomegranate for quite some time now...

There's a difference?
I'll drink just about anything fizzy & non-alcoholic. Except Mtn. Dew (unless it's mixed with something else); for w/e reason I just can't stand the taste. For the longest I had a thing for Surge & Vault, but now I can't find either And yes I'm aware that they were essentially "rebranded" Dew, but still. :<
I'm more of a mixer person, actually; will literally go down the line pouring a little of everything into the cup - even teas - at the fast food joint's drink fountain When I heard that Burger King was installing those new Freestyle fountains... *w*
@mk: Goodness that's quite the long name
Has anyone done the Jones sodas thing? I've tried a few, and while they're pretty good just can't get past the price point :x (might be America-only; not sure if they're international or not)
EDIT: so, erm... one vote for everything (except MtnD)?

I don't mind cans much. Unless it's super cheap stuff (like Fango) I'm apt to ignore the metallic aftertastes More flavor, I say! 8D
*has actually heard people complain about pop in plastic bottles tasting funny before X_x*
I vote pepsi.... my real vote goes to Faygo though
