Gamers are sparse in town, so I'm going to attempt gaming through the 'net.

Aw! No worries, it's not that difficult, even though there are different styles. 
This is one of many places where RP is essentially collaborative storytelling. Most folks here don't use any particular system beyond "I control my character (and NPCs), you control your character (and NPCs), now lets have fun!" There are also those who get more involved with dice and stats though, and there's even been some DM/GM-run games here, if table-top is your sort of thing.
You might find the Help documentation to be, well... helpful.
Some pages I'd suggest in particular are Getting Started (which explains some of the basics for this site), Writing for RP (which might address your particular concerns a bit), and New to Roleplay (which further explains how this form of RP typically works).
If you have any questions, even ones you might think are stupid, don't hesitate to ask. Everyone here is pretty friendly and helpful.

I joined like a couple days ago and I love this website so far and making a character and developing the storyis so much fun.Hope you stay and enjoy the website.
