Howdy, folks! This topic is going to serve as our Out of Character Discussion spot for story lines, character roles, setting-building, and so forth! One can find the original Looking For topic here, and I'll link to the actual RP thread 'here' when we get to it.
**If you're not one of the five players who have already expressed interest, please see the Looking For topic. We're 'closed', but if I get a group going instead, we may be able to open this up to more players in the future.
So before we get rollin' with an IC thread, there's a couple of things I'd like to get around to.
Firstly, I'd like to know everyone's comfort levels where violence, swearing, and racism are concerned. Obviously we need to keep to the forum & site rules where this stuff is concerned, but I don't want to go stepping on any toes either.
Secondly, setting wise, do we want to set it in the American west tainted by the supernatural, or would y'all be more comfortable with a generic western setting/land with territories and states and whatnot we can fully build up on our own? This is probably a minor detail in the long run, but it's one that came to mind when I started thinking of what we'd like to set up before we play!
Thirdly, might we want to consider setting up a Group for the future? Would it be more practical to y'all to have our own forums to play in, so if scenes branch out we can set up new topics without clogging up one thread or one of the public boards here? If we DO get our own group, we can branch out a bit more where my first point is concerned, but only as far as everyone's comfort levels go.

As far as violence, swearing, and racism goes, everything's fair game with me as long as it remains IC. I will not personally partake in it aside from the occasional violence (which will not be graphic), but otherwise I'm fairly comfortable with everything the Wild West might include, being quite familiar with the popular western movies of Dances with Wolves, Little Big Man, and the classic western novels.
The actual setting does not bother me, but I am privy to the American west and can work with it well.
That group would be very neat, but I'd be mostly interested if it branched out past the western setting as well. If it could encompass all parts of the world we decide upon, then we could get a plethora of opportunities and settings to throw our characters (and future members') into. Would that be cool?

Violence, racism, swearing and the like are a-okay with me. (I actually set up my character to work well with IC prejudices if people are willing!)
As for the setting, I might need to be tossed some reminders to keep me on track. Westerns have only recently become an interest to me.
To address making a group, it might make it easier for me to remember to look. I sometimes miss things (feel free to poke me to post if I haven't!)

Mild swearing and violence isn't a bother, None of my characters in the past have ever swore then again I've never played a corrupt old man. American West works for me but if it requires understanding a specific place in the west then I'd have a little difficulty. Also a group would help because I work during the days and I don't want people to think I forgot to post
I'm perfectly fine with all the violence and swearing. With the setting I don't really mind, though I'd prefer the American old west. A group could help with all the roleplays.
I'm fine with IC grit. I.E. violence, swearing, racism. Dunno how you can have a western without it.
Setting-wise my votes leaning towards the latter. The generic old west. Where we build. We could still use the culture and knowledge of that real world setting some of us have it would just be less restricted by that location.
The wild west setting isn't America exclusive, afterall. It's a settler/foundation culture that manifested where-ever people of that era first lay down roots. I grew up in a town that looked like a reject from one of those films on the other side of the world. S'why I love the setting.

I'm pleased to have heard from all of you in such short a time! Since y'all are fine with a group-group, then I'm okay with making a small one that we can build up the setting and story together.
As for the setting, I don't think we'd have to worry making sure we have an amazing understanding of any specific, historical place. Since I imagine most of our mentioned cities and towns will be fictional anyway, we wouldn't have to even imply it's right in the United States of America. There are lots of western-themed pieces of media that are in fantastical, fictional lands too. Even if we never mention 'America' ever, the setting isn't going to change based on that point alone--that's what I'm hoping, anyway.
To address your point of branching out, Audisey, that's certainly an option too for the future, but let's take smaller steps first and go westward from there. ...Ahem, sorry, I felt compelled to make a frontier settlin' pun.

Double posting because I have pertinent information:
We now have a group! Huzzah! Go check it out-- it's open to the public, but we have an application process we'd like you to go through after you've read the setting blurb and rules!
