The man had been trudging out in the rain for quite a while, his heavy boots squishing in the mud and easily giving away his location. He didn't really seem to care though. He was hunched over and murmuring about how he had 'lost sight of her' and how 'the boss would be mad with him'. He grunted and stopped, plopping down on a flat rock that stuck out of the ground.
Catherine landed in a tree not too far away from him and began to speak to him. "Who enters the forest of a Dragon and thinks they can trap her guests?" She boomed, her voice sounding deeper and more like that of a woman instead of a child.
The man acted out of instinct and pulled his gun, pointing it towards the trees. "I don't want any trouble.' He yelled, pointing his gun in all different directions. "I just to get the girl and get out." His eyes wandered from tree to tree, searching for the sound of the voice. Surely it was not a dragon. Someone was just pulling his leg. At least, that's what he thought.
"Put that toy away. Guns aren't going to hurt me." Catherine said, obvious from her tone in voice she wasn't in the least bit scared. Because of her tough scales that made up her skin his bullet would probably just either bounce off or just fall to the ground. "What do you want with her?"
"Don't ask questions that are none of your business." He growled, getting a little irritated. "Besides, I couldn't tell you anyway. I was just sent here to snatch up the little brat. Orders given from the boss." He turned every which way trying to find her.
Catherine jumped out of the tree and stepped closer. "And just who's your boss that he wants you to kidnap a little girl? Seems a bit low to me." She said still using the adult voice.
The man was startled by the girl's apperence, flinching back. "The hell if I know. Its anonymous." He said, sounding more confident than he felt. "All I know is that I was rented out by a group of stupid scientists." He kept his aim on her, though he started to doubt that his gun would protect him.
Catherine hooked a finger to the side of her mouth and pulled on it, causing her mouth to grow long enough that she bit off the end of the gun. "Would you be able to take me to them?" She asked as her mouth turned back to normal.
"I... I'm can't. I just get calls from them. I've... I've never seen their faces before." He starts to back up, as if to make a run for it.
"If you run, I will catch up with you. You can only run while I can fly. And trust me, trees aren't an obstacle to me. Why don't you give me your phone then? If you do that I will make sure you live to see another day." Catherine began to bargain as she held her hand out to him.
The an shakily dug into his pocket and pulled out his phone, handing it to her with fear in his eyes. "You... you can't tell anyone I did this." He stuttered, backing away again.
Catherine smiled and unfolded her wings. "Consider yourself spared." She said, flying away towards the house.
The man ran the opposite way, dropping his gun in the process.
Catherine walked to the dropped gun and raised her foot as it changed into a dragons claw which she used to smash it. Once she had smashed it her foot turned back to normal and she began to walk back to the house.
