Avalon Indiana is a small town where the descendants of fairytale creatures seem to gather... and go to high school. Yet their lives aren't exactly how you think they would be for fairytale creatures. Mellisa comes from a long line of "Red Riding Hoods": witches trained to defend the dwindling werewolf population. So find your inner fairytale character and lets get this school year started
Mellisa sat up quickly, sweat drenching her hair and face. Her breathing slowed to a normal pace and the memory turned nightmare of her first encounter with a rabid werewolf subsided when she stood. The sun wasn't up yet but based on how low the moon was it was nearly time for her to get up anyway and a glance at the clock confirmed she only had about 15 minutes till her alarm would go off.
Despite having straightened her hair the night before after her shower she pulled her thick brown hair into a pony tail, her natural red highlights hidden in it's sloppy tied mess.
Pulling a pair of black shorts on she shoved her feet into a pair of converse and pulled a tight grey tank top on, making sure she had plenty of cleavage showing.
Chloe had convinced her and Jenna to go to the fair today and she'd finally been able to talk her Gran into giving her the morning off from training. She was hoping to meet a cute boy (or girl) to have a fling with for the summer.

(I have such a cute idea first how the meet my goodness gracious!!)
Annie stretched up with a slight pur. Everyone warned her it would be bad news to join the Geraldine. But she didn't listen.
All she knew was she was making people smile and laugh. And That's really all that truly mattered to her.
She smiled shaking her head as her ears twitched. Her kimono only slightly wrinkled from the sleep before.
After straightening up, there was only an other hour or so until the fair opened. And work would begin.

"Mel!" Chloe yelled, leaning out of the driver's window.
"Shh!" Mel laughed and climbed in the back seat.
"Hi Mel!" Jenna said, looking down at Mellisa's shirt, "Nice cut!" she laughed as they pulled out of Mellisa's long driveway, starting on the long drive into town.
Jenna was athletic, an avid hiker and 5k runner. She had curly blonde hair and big blue eyes, her face sprinkled with freckles.
Chloe also had blonde hair, stick straight an usually pulled into a sloppy bun on top of her head. Her green eyes were always complimented by the million of shades of green in her closet.
Chloe had been Mellisa's friend since the second grade when she moved in with a foster family in town. Jenna joined their duo in the fifth grade when her adoptive dad got a job as a park ranger.
"Oh my god! There's a circus at the festival this year!" Chloe squeaked excitedly.
"Seriously?!"
"Oh hell no!"
Jenna and Mel exclaimed at the same time.
"I hate clowns!" Jenna complained loudly sitting back hard against her chair.
"Why? They're just clowns." Mellisa shrugged leaning forward between the front seats.
"No one is that happy for that long unless they are getting away with something."
Chloe laughed, "We don't have to go to the circus if you don't want to but I really wanted to see if the had a lion tamer or trapeze people things."
The girls discussed what rides they hoped were there this year and who they might see from school.
Before long they'd pulled into the parking lot already packed with cars and motorcycles.
Jenna stepped out of the car first, her blue plaid button-up shirt matched her jean shorts really well. The teddy bear charm bracelet she always wore chimed as she laced up her ever present hiking boots.
Chloe jumped out, locking the car behind her. "Alright bitches let's get this shit going!" she smiled, her laughter like a soft bell.
Jenna and Chloe linked arms waiting for Mel to join them.

Annie sat patiently waiting for new people to arrive. She liked it when the children visited. They fascinated her greatly with their tiny palms and bare heads, No ears to match like hers.
She rearranged her kimono perfectly until it looked brand new. Folding her legs underneath her and folding her hands folded underbrush of her She began to greet people from the door. "Konichiwa, welcome to a land of new creatures where fantasies come alive. Step inside, Dr. Felicio's new and improved show!" She bowed her tail pointing forward as She did.

There came a trilling melody making its way closer to the fairgrounds, accompanied by the found of loud stomping. Turns out there was a young man spending his every breath on playing his flute, seeming to be running out of breath. Even so, he had to keep playing, as the mystical melody from his flute was luring a small band of goblins behind him. Sure, they looked like ordinary children, but the moment he stopped playing, the would surely tear him limb from limb. Part of him felt terrible for luring these creatures to a populated area, but this was the only way he could think of to find someone who could help him. Surely someone with more potent magic than his own could help him.
A man playing a flute pushed his way past the girls, a crowd of children danced behind him almost in a trance.
The Glamour around the children wavered and Mellisa saw what they really were- Goblins.
Which would make the man with the flute a Piper.
Mel resisted the urge to groan as he led the group of 20 or so apparent children toward a tent with a large banner that read "Dr. Felicio's Fantasy Show!"
Mel broke free from Chloe and Jenna who, despite Gran's intense objection, had known Mellisa was a witch for a few years.
"Mel! Mellisa!" Jenna yelled jerking her arm out of Chloe's hold and running after her witch friend.
Gran is going to kill me for this. Mel thought as she ran up to the Piper.
"Quite the crowd you got. Based on the weird flute I'd guess you aren't the average band teacher." Mel said to the man. His eyes grew wide and he nodded once, his tune never faltering.
They were quickly approaching the entrance to the tent, a girl in a really pretty Asian robe greeting people as they entered. Her animal costume pieces were cute.
"Looks like you could use a hand." Mellisa glanced from the Piper to the entrance of the tent.
Was he crazy for bringing those things here?!
"I'm Mellisa- I'm a Hood. I can help." her ears burned even as she admitted to this strange man what she was.
Gran was going to kill her.

Jerry nodded as hard as he could. While he couldn't speak, he could lead the goblins away from that spot, allowing the witch to use whatever powers she had to fix his blunders. He would owe this girl a serious debt, one he hoped he wouldn't regret. But first things first!
He danced and played his way away from the tent entrance off to the side, away from prying eyes. He plead with his eyes for the witch to act quickly. He was running out of breath.

((Way sorry about not posting in a few days- you know, life.))
Mel wasn't exactly sure how she was going to do this but she was glad he was trusting her and leading them away from the public and to the edge of the forest just behind the Dr.'s tent.
Rubbing her palms together she felt them become steadily warmer and a glance down revealed the skin there was turning black.
She hoped a chant wasn't required to get rid of these creatures because she'd not yet mastered that yet.
Instead she focused on the image of a Goblin nest in the book of creatures and spells Gran had. She hung back and let the man with the flute walk on, the crowd of apparent children following him.
She held her arms out steadily and projected the image onto the short beings, willing them back to the nest.
With a loud Bang! and the smell of burning ground the little blood thirsty creatures disappeared, leaving tufts of burnt grass where they'd each been standing.
The man with the flute turned around as Mellisa leaned forward, hands on her knees. Magic made her dizzy and her palms itched as they returned to their normal color.
A gasp behind her made her whirl around a little to quickly. The cat girl by the tent had followed them.

Jerry stopped playing and ran to the Hood. "Hey! Hey! are you okay!?" He knelt down and took her by the arm, eagerly trying to help her back to her feet. "Oh man, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to bring you into this! I'm so sorry!" He stepped back and readied his flute. "Hang on, I have a vigor charm, that should--" He suddenly saw the little cat girl. "Uuuuh, Ima play a song now! Wanna hear one?!" Without waiting for a reply, his fingers danced along the frets of his flute, and the rapid parade of energetic notes spun through the air, giving a sense of energy to all within earshot.
(May I join in?)
Logan, while obviously not being able to do much else but entertain with wit and fighting, was still a 'fantastic' creature--just not only an entertainer. He was staff for assisting with the more dangerous things the show liked to feature--snakes, lions, bears, etc--because he basically had impenetrable skin and was immune to any venom those things tried to give him.
He was also featured for the smallest time in the end of the show as the only thing he could morph into--a large brown wolf.
Currently, he was unloading water moccasins into plexiglass containers, gathering about eight or ten each time in his hands and dumping them in not so carefully with a couple of attempted bites.
People had kind of learned to stay away from him while he was working. He tended to get annoyed easily when he was actually doing stuff and trying to because he didn't like to do stuff and try to focus.
Logan could already hear people beginning to fill up the massive tent beside him even though it was about an hour until starting time. He himself didn't understand, being a late arriver to wherever, whenever, but he'd puzzled over it a few times. He'd figured, over these short few times, that it was because he was impatient, and arriving early meant he'd have to wait. Arriving late, however, meant he wouldn't have to wait at all, and he'd get the added plus of seeing everyone a little irritated--something he found oddly hilarious.

"Hey thanks." Mellisa glanced at the cat girl and then gently pushed the Piper's flute away from his lips.
"That was a great song... let's go check out the show" she grabbed his wrist and walked around the girl, heading back to her friends.
They stared at her aghast.
"Mel!"
"What the hell?!"
The growled in unison.
"What?! They were goblins!"
Chloe and Jenna stared at the Piper in confusion.
"He's a Piper." Mellisa supplied with an eye roll.
"Hey." he waved, flute still in hand.
"Did anyone-,"
"I don't think so but that girl that was welcoming people into the tent maybe." Mellisa shook her head.
There was a lull in the conversation before Jenna stood up a little straighter and pulled her blonde, curly locks into a pony tail.
"Well let's go see what she knows." she said with finality, leading the way to the good Dr.'s tent.

He continued throwing--yes, he was now throwing them--the snakes into the tanks.
Someone came over and Logan briefly contemplated throwing a snake or two at them.
He'd finished with the snakes and was really waiting for the snake charmer--aka shape shifter--to come along and get them, because he didn't dare go in the shifter's trailer when he wasn't expectant of it. It was some scary shît to see a half lion half horse in a trailer when you were expecting a human--especially for Logan, who didn't like change all that much.
"Logan. Last minute change--you're gonna be in a big scene as your wolf," they began, then told him what he was doing. Logan was revolted at the change, thinking the original one was better, but he wasn't going to question the boss, because it was his only source of income--that and one other thing.

Archer was walking in the woods. More like jumping through the trees. He noticed a circus up ahead. 'Hm... I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it out' Archer thought. 'An hour or two shou- *BANG* 'What was that? It came from the edge of the forest behind that tent.' As Archer approached, the people who were there were leaving. Archer stayed in the shadows.
"Well, anyti--" and suddenly the girl was dragging him off to her other friends. After he introduced him to them, all he could thing to say at the moment was "Hey," waving with his flute still in hand.
After they all reached the front of the tent, he looked around for the cat eared girl who witnessed Jerry's ordeal. "Well, I don't think we have a whole lot to worry about," he said. "I mean, she looked like a kid, and it's not like anyone's gonna believe one person saying that a bunch of children exploded. Oh wow, where are my manners!?" He released himself from Mellisa's grip and took an elaborate bow. "The name's Jerry Jay, the Piper. Pleased to meet all of you."

Annie watched everyone of the newcomers with intense interest. Not many people Of the other work came to this tent In both anger and sadness. She had met a wizard and he had told her a story of events outsizes the tent. She had never been outside the tent, so his stories interested her greatly.
....as did these strangers.
Once again bowing this time to the newcomers She smiled. "Welcome!" She greeted fondly.

Archer darted to the tent through the shadows, trailing the people who were walking away. They walked into the tent. He followed them in, quickly vanishing into the shadows.
Logan sighed, going into wardrobe to get his costume for the (skit?) act he was now being forced to do. He was equipped with a ragged shirt that was mostly huge gaping holes, exposing his torso an alarmingly large amount, and pants that had a long slit down the side with tattered ends. He considered it the most stereotypical werewolf costume in the history of anything.
Suddenly, a large horn went off in the tent, signaling that the show was about to begin. Logan jumped at the sound, covering it up with beginning to walk, going backstage of the show to dose up on his favorite poisons to aid him in his part.
A stereotypical circus announcer came over the speakers in the tent, hushing everyone as politely as possible and introducing the opening scene--trapezists doing elaborate routines over a large snake pit, supplied by yours truly--as the shape shifter blended into the pit as a water moccasin and told them what to do with some creepy mojo shıt, as Logan liked to call it.
