Moist. That was the best word to describe that night. The air was moist, warm...sticky. As per usual for a tepid summer's night in Kantō region. Chōsei village had a strange knack of recieving these uncomfortable nights. Not helped in the slightest by the mysterious fog that had rolled in and made things far worse. At this time of night, many of the villagers had turned in. A few were either out having a drink before they headed home or tending to the fields.
Few dared to stay out too long, espsecially with the odd occurances going on. From missing farm equipment to fields being planted in strange new patterns...or even new colours. Some ranging from strange pranks to life-destroying messes. Worse yet were rumors of the strange mask-wearing beings, some of which were said to peer into your very soul, or seduce you and steal your soul.
One unlucky rice farmer had chosen the wrong night to be tending to his fields. As the man strolled back from his field, still tired from a long day and basking under the moonlight with his kasa, holding a strong bamboo rod over his shoulder with a bucket hoisted up at the end, filled with old rags he was using for his cleaning. Alas, as he walked the empty paths between two houses, he soon found himself face to face with the queerest sight.
A canvas wall that seemed to appear out of nowhere. He knew the path home well, and this was never there. He stopped, heart skipping a beat as he noticed something was horribly out of place. But it was all too late. Before he could finish taking a step back, someone was standing at the other end of the road. Standing there was a single figure. A girl, no older then twenty, no younger then seventeen. Long, thin white hair reached all the way down to her waist, her face obscured by a white and red kabuki mask. It's shape that of a kyuubi, quite an eerie visage to see in the middle of the night. His first reaction was that of surprise, stepping back as she would approach, her body clad in a pale white yukata, blue trimmed tassels extending from within it's sleeves, reaching down to the ground. No weapons upon her, though her presence was rather surprising, it certainly was not threatening. Though for him, seeing one of the mysterious masked assailants he'd been hearing about was enough to make him fall back. Reaching out, the girl closed the distance, hushing gently as the wind seemed to pick up almost inexplicably.
"Do not be alarmed...I only want to ask you a few questions." she spoke , muffled slightly by her mask yet her voice was still quite clear, gentle yet strangely wispy.
"Please...don't hurt me." the man was quick to drop his bucket, raising the rod to his defence, pointing right up at her. He seemed ready to attack if necessary.
Stopping just short of the rod, which pressed up against her bosom, the girl reached up to tap a finger against it. A strong gust of wind seemed to co-ordinate with her touch, quite literally flicking the bamboo rod out of the man's grasp and all the way to a nearby roof.
"Please...do not threaten me. " she called out, arms outstretched "I promise no harm will ever come to you. I would not do that to an innocent man like you. Have you ever seen someone like me before?" her voice seemed to have an oddly persuasive tone to it.
Whatever that was, it was working. The man suddenly seemed to become passive, arms slacking as he would shake his head at her, seemingly calming down almost out of nowhere.
"No I...have never seen anything like you before." he admitted, eyes almost glassy as he stared at her. Something seemed ripe in the air...and it was effecting him "You are...beautiful."
"And that is why you should feel safe. After all...a beautiful thing couldn't hurt you, could it?"

Two identical twins were walking down the road, if not for their obviously differently styled hair you couldn't tell them apart by looks; they arrived here an hour ago, but with their adventurous personallity they ended up following a ripe smell that randomly reminded them of mangos, "huh?" One of the twins said, her long bangs slightly blocking her left eye's view "what's that?", what she had said slightly alarmed her sister who was doing an un lady like hobby, "is there a problem sis?" Her twin asked and glanced up, her short hair not seen from the hat covering it.
Well, the commotion certainly got her attention. Turning her head slowly, the masked figure peered over at them, entranced for a brief moment much to the ire of the farmer. Her gaze lingered no longer as she turned back to him, hushing him gently as she would run her fingers over his eyelids, quietly attempting to quell him that motion alone. Surprisingly it worked. He seemed to settle back upon the ground.
"Shh...I can question you later. You should probably get to sleep...and lay off the drinks." she murmured aloud to him, and almost like a light he seemed to just fall asleep. Of course his state of confusion had left him open to suggestion, that was the down side of coming up against something like her. It was hard to keep control of yourself.
Walking towards them, she kept her arms crossed at her belly, grasping one another as she seemed to be lose in thought. She seemed to suddenly stop her walking. No, she started to float towards them. Which seemed to be the faster way of travel. Considering how the wind picked her up, it almost seemed like she weighed nothing!
Settling down in front of them, she seemed to peer at them with a tilt of her head, almost like a confused animal.
"How curious...moving emphera... Íkírýō, but not amongst the living...yet real. How curious. And so alike." The way she spoke and examined them seemed a little absent minded, almost ignoring the fact they could pose a threat or might have some questions of their own. OR that simply asking could yield some results.
No, she just continued to stare, utterly dumbfounded by their existence before she would speak up to them both.
"Are you, or are you not yourselves?"

"Are you, or are you not yourselves?"
"What do you mean?" Both of them asked harmonically, they weren't used to this type of speech from where they came from, "and what are you? We've seen worse, but what are you?" The short haired one asked bluntly without even a hint of fear in her face, "s-sis... why're you so c-calm?" The long haired one asked her sister with a shakey voice, it seemed that she had turned to stone from fright, "um... because I'm not like you, and besides she's wearing a mask! I mean who goes around flying putting people to sleep and wearing a mask!?" Her other twin answered with an curious look, it wasn't everyday that they could find something paranormal outside from their dimension! Slowly the short haired one approached the flying creature, "levetation? Or is it one of those petty human tricks that those magicians do" slightly she tilted her head to the side and places her right arm's elbow onto her left arm's hand, slowly she examined the masked creature while tapping her face with her right hand's middle finger.
"H-hello...?" The long haired one asked waving her hand in front of the creature's face, she tried to comunicate with it unlike her sister who was busy examining it.

"Interesting...two yet one. You speak together and yet are so different. You are inharmonious and chaotic. Far from impressive. But that would mean you aren't one of us." she stepped aside for a moment, moving to pinch the bottom of her mask and slowly remove it.
Beyond that was a rather curious sight...it was...them! Well, one of them. In a rather strange and confusing twist, it appeared as if Tan was standing there before...herself...and her sister!
"See, this is a curious thing. You are clearly not from the world of spirits. No, you would be far more different if you were. But you wander about like lost souls. That would be defying the way everything works but, to be honest, it isn't like that doesn't happen quite often." she spoke clearly to them, though mimicing her tone of voice almost perfectly.
After a moment, her body seemed to shimmer briefly, before fluidly and before their eyes, she'd turned back. Albeit, this time, slightly different. The girl had no mask, and the others could clearly see what was below. A relatively normal face, oddly pale skin considering where they were , thin white hair that reached down to her waist (Now where did that come from) and luminous white eyes, peering at them curiously like a pair of lively deadlights.
"My name is Kasumi. I don't exist. Yet I do. I am alive, yet I never lived a day in my life. A spirit, a little like yourselves, but apparently not. I believe my mission can wait a while whilst I investigate your existence and determine it's worth. You are...both so interesting!" her voice seemed wispy, soft and that calm was mixed in with an almost unmistakably bubbly sense of curiosity.

The two jolted from what was said, they never heard anyone call them intresting, rather they were called annoying more than intresting from where they came from.
"Well hello there Kasumi, we're Tan and Mae, Tan is me and-" the short haired one, or Tan stopped in the middle of her sentence to turn around and point at her sister, "that girl frozen solid is my sister, we were alive then we died yet we are alive again".
"Why are you still so calm? She did something cool just now!" The long haired one or Mae said still frozen solid from fear, "well, because she's a spirit, and I love spirits" her sister Tan answered while pointing at Kasumi.
"Besides, we're already half dead" Tan added while squishing her face.

"Tan. Mae." Kasumi muttered aloud as her tails slowly peaked out from beneath her skirt, all five of them slowly arching upwards as the imediate area was filled with a thicker blanket of fog. It helped obscure them. After all, it'd be a little bit awkward to get discovered, wouldn't it?
"Half dead does not make you unkillable. Even someone like me - all the way there - can be killed. IT's all a matter of perspetive." she spread hera rms, showing herself off.
"No one would dare stick their knife into a nice young woman...but if they did, they would find it doesn't quite hurt." she stepped towards them for a moment, examining Mae and her frozen self, tapping at her nose. It was hard to tell if this was playful or curious.
"We seem to have similar facinations. Look at you. Well...I certainly didn't see this coming." She reached a hand up to stroke her chin, tails flicking in sync. She seemed pleased. "You both look a little out of place...what are you doing here? I somehow don't think you're just wandering around aimlessly, that would be a titanic waste of an eternity."

Tan giggled and poked some parts of her sister's body that would calm her down before answering Kasumi, "we were sent here by a friend of ours, the fog was a problem".
"The fog is really a problem" Mae sighed in relief that her joints were no longer frozen stiff, quickly she stretched her limbs to warm up, "if it wasn't for this fog then we would be at home chasing snakes" Tan mummbled and quietly touched Kasumi's tails, it was one of ber hobbies to cut off tails but she just touched the tails that were in front of her, "and, we can be killed in another world" Tan said and grabbed on of the tails, accidentally tickling inside her nose.
"And now that I'm warmed up... do you know a place where we can stay? Were kind of lost..." Mae asked and dusted her skirt.
(Sorry for short and late reply my favorite TV show was playing and now I need to sleep )

((Hope you slept well ^^! Sorry for how late this reply is, I wasn't feeling too well.))
"Ah! Yes. My fog. That's not going away until I do what I have to do. Sort of integral to my entire plan." Kasumi admitted rather uneasily, giving a sheepish grin "Sorry about that."
She would have added something else before Tan touched one of her tails! The woman let loose a sound which to the trained ear almost sounded like a fox's yip. An absolutely adorable and queer little noise that you'd never expect to hear coming out of someone that looks like her. With this, her tails flicked violently. Ticklish or annoying, either way those things were her soft spots!
"Mmh, be that as it may, still ways to get killed over here...mind you hardly anyone has magical weapons in this world. Only those sharp, pointy things that just go right through you. Tickles something fierce!" she clapped her hands for a moment, peering around to answer their lattermost question.
"The locals seem a little apprehensive at the moment, I have a feeling they might not want to give us a place to stay. You know, unless you'd like to give me ten minutes with one of them, I might clear something up." she cooed, running a hand through her white locks "But I think that might be inappropriate in your company. Well, I usually sleep in the wild...I could build us a little shelter!"
Had it been up to her, they'd have gone for a mountain. High up, nice and safe, LOTS of wind. She loved it. After all, wind spirit and all that.
