I may come into some spare cash in the next week or so. And I'm trying to figure out how much to set aside for which things that I want.

Things I want:
Character Slot(s) for here on RPR
1 Fallout game

The advice I've received thus far:
Friend 1 "Get both 3 and New Vegas special editions and then get one character slot"
Friend 2 "Get regular New Vegas, because 3 doesn't work on Windows 7 or later, and get the characters slots you want. You can always get 3 later when you have a console for yourself."
Friend 1 continues to insist on getting both because you can mod 3 to work.

I dunno what to do. I just wanted to try a Fallout game and then get some extra slots for characters. ;n;

3 may or may not work. It doesn't on my Win 7 machine and no fix has worked for me yet, but it works for some. It's a big gamble though.

Yeah. That's what I've gathered from my two friends going back and forth. And since I've never played Fallout and have no idea if I'll even like it. I'm wary to spend 20+ dollars on something that I might not enjoy. Whereas, I know, if I spend the 15 dollars for 5 characters slots, I'll have a good time with them and enjoy developing new characters and RPing more. It's all a gamble because I don't know how much I should spend on the game(s) if I'm not sure they'll work or that I'll enjoy them.

What prompted you to consider buying the game?

All of my friends tell me it's great. And from what I know of it, I'm interested in playing it.
You should probably ask to play one of your friends' games for awhile before deciding, so you'll know whether you'll enjoy it or not.

That's hard. Since I'm planning to get it on my PC... and all my friends that play it are in different states or countries and use their PCs to play.
Well then, if you really want to play the game, I'd suggest going with friend 2, not because of functionality issues, but so you're spending less to see if you like it to begin with. Or you could get New Vegas, play it awhile, and decide from there if you want 3 or more character slots.

Another possibility to get an idea of what it's like first is to watch a video of someone playing it. It wont be quite as inclusive as actually playing it yourself, of course, but you'll know better what to expect.

And really, you said to beginning with that you only intended to get one Fallout game and put the rest into character slots (which, by the way, would help keep this site running).

Ultimately though, it's your choice what you do with your money.

I'm not sure which game I'm going to get. But I really do want to get character slots. Because I kinda like all y'all on this site and I'm happy to spend some money to help the site. I do want the 5 slots because it's the better deal for me and gives me what I want/need while helping fund the site.

Thanks for the input by the way. Things got a bit combative between my two friends so I needed more opinions so I didn't feel like I was taking sides or anything.

The Steam summer sale is expected to begin next week (the rumors say on the 19th), so I'd say wait and get the game then, it'll be much cheaper :)

Oh! Then, I'll wait. XD
