Okay, in short speak, my computer's power supply is dead. And I don't know, nor do I have any way to know yet, if it took the rest of the family computer with it. which includes all my games and such (though I'm hopeful it didn't >.<). At least I have ze tablet, so until I can replace the PSU, that means that any posts will be coming through this thing.

If you hear an increase in the amount of cursing, it may be from the frustrations I have of using this thing to type and write ( the best thing on it for writing is a basic notepad app, and even that has its moments - like why are the 'Confirm' and 'Cancel' buttons reversed? O__o what the hell?!? ). Though I have been slow lately, I hope to pick up things for all... three of you >-> yes I know there's more, it's a joke.
Oooh, that sucks. Hopefully it's the PSU that needs to be replaced only; I'm confident your files are alright.

Got a replacement on the way. Found a Corsair cx600m for <$100 on Amazon ( because I friggin' love modular power supplies now >w< ) but I didn't want to pay for rush delivery, so it'll be here hopefully by the 3rd of July. Here's hoping that solves the issue. Could've bought one from a local store, but the only close ones now are Best Buys, and #%@! Best buy.

I'm more nervous than worried about further damage. Horror stories and such about units frying from electrical backlash (from power spikes or short circuits), but that's more old machines than modern ones I realize. Still, tech can be finicky at times.

Found a back-up replacement power supply for a decent price today, and have it installed now, while I wait on the actual one to arrive. Or maybe I'll use that one as a back-up in case this one fries - not sure yet since they're both good units and both rated about the same (600 Watts, 80 Bronze certified, power fluctuation protections, etc) X-x

And I finally broke down and got myself an SSD to replace the aging C: drive when I saw a 256GB for ~$150; took some pain to install until I found the "Migrate OS to SSD/HDD" option in the program I was fiddling around with. After that it worked, and is working quite beautifully *w* ( if only with less space than the original drive, but meh - that's what my other drives are for ). Probably gonna use the old hard drive as a brick or a doorstop or something.

So... Just a weekend without the main comp.
And it made me get out of the house to get an improvement, which is fine by me.
