Hiro turned his face away. "And you call me dumb? No one rescued me from the dragon, I went to her willingly. My reasons for it are none of your business. The dragon's not dangerous." It took a moment for Hiro to notice the woman's eyes. He suddenly felt uneasy and pulled his feet off of the table.
"Are you really a cop?"
"Are you really a cop?"
"Cop? No no, I'm just an assistant. Lots of filing. A little abuse. But we do what we must." Trivia shrugged and sighed. Her eyes were brown once again. She glanced for a moment off toward the wall, then looked back at the boy. "To be honest, Hiro... I really could use a hero. There's a man here who thinks I can help him escape, and I'm afraid he's going to hurt me. And if I tell any of the officers... I know he will. But I don't think anyone can help. Thank you, we'll be contacting your guardian shortly to inform him you're here."
The door opened as she asked and the officer returned with a fresh pair of cuffs that featured inscriptions in the metal. They weren't designed to be strong so much as to drastically weaken the wearer.
"Sorry for the trouble, sir," Trivia said as she stood and bowed her head to the man. "Mr. Toriyama here provided sufficient contact information. I'll go take care of that right away."
"Good," the officer grumbled. He didn't look her way though, but walked right to Hiro with the cuffs. "Hands out."
The young woman moved for the door, though she was listening carefully. Just some hint that she had him... and the evening would be getting fun. But if not, she supposed she could always look for another.
The police station was getting a bit boring, after all.

These cuffs didn't look any stronger than the ones he just snapped. He looked out at the door, wondering about the woman's story.
Hiro hesitantly held out his hands, when the cold clap of metal came down on his wrists. Hiro suddenly felt cold and scared for reasons he couldn't identify. What was going on? Why did he feel so strange?
"Hey," Hiro asked the officer. "How easy would it be for someone to threaten an employee in order to escape?"
The officer took him by the collar. "Shut up kid," he said, leading him out of the office.

Well, that was certainly uncertain, and the idea of vilifying noble, soft-hearted Magnus was just becoming too... delicious. The mousey young woman went through the motions of filing and data entry, and brightened as she realized what a prefect excuse she had to talk with more of those presently being held.
She grabbed a handful of files and carried them over to the holding cells, singles and groups alike. Sweet as could be, "Trivia" began asking each to confirm their information - a task which she assured them was to speed things along after the "electrical troubles," instilling the hope of a faster release. She paid special attention to those who seemed like, aside from whatever minor infraction had gotten them there, were relatively good people.
In time, she worked her way to a rather tall red head, locked away in one of the single cells, typically reserved for those considered either dangerous or difficult to hold - the more violent, magic users, and others who tended to be problematic. The young woman smile politely just the same when she knocked on the narrow window.
"Hello. I'm sure you noticed that odd little power outage. To make sure we have your information correct so we can keep things moving along, could you confirm what we have? What's your full name, and why were you arrested?"

"Seriously? You don't keep these things filed? I mean, it's the age of electricity I get it but it isn't that hard to have back ups." She replies. She stays quiet for a moment, not standing from where she was. "Athena. Silly, I know. Someone was shouting at me and I kind of... Froze him."
Criminals were so rude! Then again, she generally found the police arresting them to be rude as well. It seemed to be a common trait among people in general.
"As I said, this is for confirmation. The files aren't gone, I'm just making sure they're accurate." Not a bit of rudeness back. "Nothing wrong with the name Athena. Actually, I was just mocked for having the name Trivia. What about your last name?"

"Don't have one." She replied simply. "Even if I did, I don't remember it." She replied. "And... Do the shackles have to be this tight? I can't really feel my fingers. I think the magic wards are more than enough."
"I'll ask someone if they can be loosened. Or just removed. It does seem excessive." She scribbled something down, then peered in through the window again.
"Why would you freeze a guy for yelling? Was he being rude our threatening you?" Trivia glanced around and lowered her voice. "Y'know, if he was, then you might be able to argue self defense."

"Threatening, yes. But apparently self defense only counts until the threat is gone. His hand shattered. That's why I'm here." She replied. "They haven't told me how long I'll be here either."
"Oh..." Trivia frowned and looked at the files in her hand. After a moment, she smiled. "Well, it looks like you don't have an attorney yet, so I'll make sure you get a good one!"
Without another word, the girl turned and ran off, seeming to have put herself on quite the mission.
For those awaiting bail, release, or some other action, the day proceeded relatively uneventfully. A small fight broke out in one of the group cells at one point, but it was quickly taken care of and those responsible were separated. Everything was business as usual.
Until evening came and the lights went out again - and this time, the mechanisms on the doors short circuited and popped open, with safeties somehow not in place. Many of the magical wards also turned faulty, some simply failing while others strangely seemed to be overloaded, some actually cracking apart.
Even in the chaos an confusion - even as people shouted and alarms sputtered, sometimes wailing and sometimes silent - Magnus would hear a sweet voice, quite clearly whispering into his ear, "You owe me a wish."

Athena kicked the door open. Anyone watching would see ice slowly covering the entire right side of her body. She struggled in the cuffs, before giving up and looking around. She tried to calm her racing heart, trying to come up with a plan, an idea, something. Her heart didn't slow.
Nothing.
Nothing.
As Magnus continued studying the glyphs, starting to recognize some of the patterns, darkness filled the room. Some of the glyphs stopped shining, others shone brightly and then disintegrated, but all of them deactivated suddenly. Magnus' soft glow suddenly returned to him, and with it, a feeling of renewal as his healing energies kicked in. Extending a hand to the wall he'd seen move as a door, he started accumulating energy in his palm to blast it away, except it suddenly opened on it's own.
And then Taryn's voice whispered in his ear, sending a horrible chill down the man's spine. He had promised her a wish, any wish, if she made it so he could escape the facility. And now, it was his time to uphold his end of the bargain, a thought that terrified the young knight. Still, this was his best chance to make it out of here and retrieve the stone that came from Nashyll's old body, so he couldn't let it go to waste.
"Stop right there! Move a muscle and you'll go night night!"
As the lights of the building's general alarm spun, Magnus could just make out three armed figures, aiming their gas weapons at him. Minutes before he would've easily given up, but now that his powers had returned, he had a chance. One teleport and a few precision punches later, there was a pile of unconscious guards on the floor and a knight squeezing into one of the battle suits and gas masks they wore, walking away while looking exactly like any other uniformed troop in the building. One of the guards in the pile was handcuffed, wearing Magnus' clothes and hat, with the face obscured by one of the other guard's masks.
"Now to find my way to that stone... Wonder how Nashyll is doing..."

Athena ran. Down halls, anywhere she could go. Still handcuffed, still panicked. Up ahead she saw guards, facing the other way. She made her footsteps as quiet as possible, trying to blend in the the dark. She slowly approached one, before leaping forward. Her handcuffs were thrown over his head, and around his neck. At least they were useful for something.
As he choked and not much sound was being made, other guards started to turn. A frozen finger made its way to the choking guards ventilation in his mask. It started to freeze over. She dropped him as the other guards held up their guns and weapons. "...Crap..."

"Did it just get a lot colder in here?" Hiro asked.
"Shut up and get down, kid!" The officer escorting the boy pulled out a firearm and pulled the boy to the side of the hall. "Damn, flashlight's busted."
"I could help if my phone wasn't confiscated," Hiro muttered.
"I said shut up!" The officer heard someone utter the word "crap" not too far in front of him, and he jumped to his feet, still holding Hiro's shredded coat with one hand. "Freeze!" he shouted.
"I think we're all freezing here, dude," said Hiro.
"I said shut up!"
So with that, Hiro proceeded to shut up. In fact he was so quiet that no one heard him slip out of his coat, slip of his shoes, and tiptoe down the hall and toward the exit.

Naturally, out wasn't just the police that needed to be dealt with. Most of those being held also now had freedom within their grasp, including some who were a bit more dangerous and violent, and a few who plain didn't like each other. Most of the weren't terribly interested in dealing with one another though - but there were those who were quite happy to attack any individual in a uniform.
And there was that voice that kept babbling, whispering, egging everyone on. There was that shifting sense of unease - but it wasn't until the discovery that the building itself had been locked down that things really took a turn for the worst. As the confusion turned to full on rioting, a childlike voice sang out over the intercom:
"Dream of sparrows lost in flight
sailing through the frosted night
A fortress made of buttered bread
now will only save the dead
Rough winds blow through silent hills
taping fear to windowsills
Catch a sparrow, break his wing
Only for you will he now sing~"

Athena slowly began backing up, before she backed into a wall. The back of her frozen hand rested on it as she went into deep concentration. A thin line of ice shot from the wall to the ground, shooting towards the guards. Large shards of ice shot out of the ground in jagged lines, either freezing guards, or parts of them in solid ice. Athena took a massive breath, and fell to her knees. She couldn't keep this up forever.
Hiro felt his way along the walls until he found what he thought was the outside door. It was bolt-locked. Understandable, but Hiro didn't want to be there anymore, so he stepped back and, with a single punch, broke the door down.
The handle of a mot smacked him in the face for his troubles.
"ow! Broom closet? Where the heck is the door?"
Someone suddenly grabbed him from behind. "Move and you're dead, kid!"
The next thing he knew, the man who grabbed him was groaning on the ground, and there was something wet on Hiro's left-hand knuckles. "Huh, that was too fast even for me to keep up with," he observed. "Gotta work on that."

The chaos that filled the halls of the compound wasn't making Magnus' job any easier, forcing him to engage other inmates as he moved towards his objective. The suit he'd obtained protected him from some of the damage they could cause, but it also made him a giant target, since everyone thought he was just another guard.
"Out of my way! I don't want to hurt you!"
Most of the weapons he had obtained from the guards were non-lethal, but still quite damaging to their targets, so the knight mostly stuck to dodging and shoving people out of the way. Then he saw two guards thrown against a wall and viciously skewered with the bone claws of an inmate, making him realize that although he had an objective himself, keeping these people safe should be top priority. Not all of the people locked up in here were like him, and if this was a proper police facility, most of them were probably highly dangerous.
"I'm seriously going to regret this... But I couldn't sleep if I just let it happen"
Charging up the electrical gloves of the suit, Magnus turned back and ran towards the violence, fighting off the most violent inmates to give the guards a chance while keeping their efforts non-lethal. Finding Nashyll and her stone were still on his mind, but until the chaos died down, there were more pressing matters to attend.

With Magnus running through the halls, he was bound to run across a red haired woman, with half her body encased in ice. She held out an icy hand towards him. "Stop!" She said. She seemed tired. "Don't come ANY closer." She took a step back, taking heavy breaths.
"Stay back, keep out of my way, and you won't have anything to worry about. I mean you no harm, but this chaos has to stop, and I WILL take you down if... WHOA!"
The short exchange was interrupted by the bony behemoth that had killed the two guards earlier, slamming a fist against the spot on the wall that Magnus had been leaning against a second ago. The knight however, had teleported on top of his head, placing his electrified fists against the large man's shoulders.
Electricity rippled throughout the giant's body, yet seemed to have very little effect, eliciting only a flinch and a slight slowing of his movement. The man's large hand closed over Magnus without him noticing, and the next thing he knew the knight was flying down the hallway, crashing and sliding across the floor for a few seconds. Flipping back onto his feet, the man took off the now cracked helmet of his suit and threw it at the behemoth's head, egging him on to charge towards him and hopefully the cell at the end of the hall. As he did this, he addressed the half-frozen woman, who was now a potential victim if he failed to trap this beast of a man.
"You're not looking too hot. If I was you... I'd go back to my cell. It's not safe out here. I'll distract Bone Mountain over here... but you better move."
