Jordan Willow (played by SirMustacheTheGreat)

Jordan was sitting in his home, reading from a scroll called The Large and Complex subject of majyck, Gods and the Five Realms, when he became aware of a strange noise. He walked to the window and looked outside, to find that there was a thing outside his window.

A thing like none he had seen before in his life.

It was almost like a man. In a sense of the word. It was glowing softly, but the glow was not any particular color. It was black, and cloth hung from its raven frame in ancient tatters. Jordan was terrified by the creature, but he felt that no one could help. In fact, it probably wasn't even visible.

Jordan felt that he was probably one of the few who could actually even see the creature, for better or for worse, because of his own ability. Jordan was rather special because he had trained his mind to see the Mare (pronounced mah-RAY) of practically any creature. Mare is a word in the tongue the ancient Archaiens that meant Heart, and to see a Mare was to see a man's very heart, his very soul. Not many could see a Mare, because seeing one took studying, discipline, and determination, something not too common in men of Jordan's day. There were those who could see the Mare. In fact, whole races of wyldires, or intelligent creatures, are born with the gift of Marevie.

The creature stalked forward, with its Mare glowing black. Jordan knew that the redder and darker the Mare appeared, the more evil was the intent of the creature that possessed it. He had never seen a black Mare before, but intuition told him that black was the color of true, malicious evil. Evil that could only come from Mortuama-Hili, the fourth realm, that of evil. The place where only the most malicious and evil souls were sent after their bodies met their end. Jordan readied his katana, hoping that it would be enough but knowing fully well that it wouldn't. Suddenly, a thought came to him and he shouted at the beast.

"MARE, FLAUNI A MORTUA-MAHI NOH ER MORTUBAAL JA EROH!" Soul, fly to Hell as the death-spawn you are!.
The incantation in the language of the Archaiens made the beast stagger back, before it turned and flew away in a brilliant flash of light.

THAT light, Jordan knew, was sure to be visible to everybody. A flash that illuminated the countryside for leagues. Would probably attract some villager who has far too large of a nose for their own business, and must therefore share it with the business of everyone else. Or perhaps another Marevie-gifted man.
Hayden was perched on the edge of her bed, knees close to her chest as she peered down; her amber gaze was locked onto a book. This book she was reading was named A study of wild creatures: Wolves, she was remarkably fascinated by the wild creatures.

A blinding light flooded through her bedroom window. With quick reflexes, her arm flung to her eyes as she squinted, dropping the book to the floor with a small thump.

"What the hell?!" She yelled to herself after the light faded, she ran to her window, peering outside to the bringer of the light. She sneered, grabbing her clothes she intended to wear today; a white corset, black laced, long sleeved dress, and white, shin-high socks.

After dressing herself, she put on black boots. Then, she grabbed her Mage weaponry, steadily hovering them over her hands, and a white cloak as she walked down the stairs. 'Could that light be...' she was at war with herself in her mind, fighting over what it could actually be; she kept her head lowered, the cloak's hood now covering her face. She then raised her head a little, continuing to walk towards the light that was fading slowly. Hayden moved some brown-violet strands of hair from her eyes, calmly walking past villagers and markets.

She peered in the sky, the light got farther away, soon going away completely. 'Judging by how far it is, it must mean it began,' she thought, then smirked under her hood, 'that house,' she was referring to Jordan's house, although she never met the man. She begun to walk again, walking nearer and nearer to the house.

Jordan slumped against a wall. Calling in Archaien, a language of quite a bit of power, really drained most people's magic energy very quickly. And incanting against a negative Mare was not an easy thing to do, even using a lesser magic tongue. Jordan's vast knowledge of Archa's linguistics allowed him to speak it perfectly, something very few could do, but his magical stamina was not very high. Suddenly, he heard footsteps. He jumped back into his private study and grabbed a sword. It was a simple design; about 2 and a half feet of well-forged steel, with parallel edges and an angular tip. It was a hand-and-a-half. A good design for a man with Jordan's build and limited strength. He held the sword ready, but the tip quivered a bit.

((OOC: Do you want to do dice rolls if they get into a slight clash? Or if they get into a fight with armed men? I prefer to use them but we don't have to.))
((OOC: Surely we can!))

Hayden prepared her "scrolls", hovering them over her petite hands while she walked slowly and calmly towards the home. She peered back up at the sky, the light was still gone, it was too bright, she thought. Hayden then reached the front door, she displayed a slight smile while knocking 3 times on the door; after knocking, she placed her hands behind her back and waited patiently.

Jordan took out his sword, knowing that he probably wouldn't have enough magic energy left to perform a spell, but his sword was perfectly steady now. He opened the door, cautiously, to reveal the woman, quite clearly a mage, standing at the doorstep.

Jordan opened the door fully and placed his sword at her throat.

"State your business," he said, coldly. Internally, he struggled to recharge his Magic strength with an incantation he had read of, but the spell had come with a caution note. 'Using this incantation is risky,' the annotation in his scroll read, 'and could end very badly. Use with caution and be very clear on wording.' Jordan thought the words, pouring what magic energy he had left into the one thought. Spells used on one's self could be activated by a simple thought, but spells used on others had to be spoken unless you trained very hard in reaching out to others with your mind.

Mare, geh flahrah, he thought, triggering the incantation.

rolled 1d4 and got 4
1 = catastrophe, 2 = failure, 3 = success and 4 = full recharge

Jordan felt the energy flowing back into his soul as the incantation worked. A full recharge was far from what he expected, but he certainly wasn't complaining. All he had to do was read the woman's Mare and find out if she was going to attack him or not. Unfortunately, he was having trouble reading her. Mages are all that way, their Mares get all muddled because they use the mare's power so often.
Hayden moved her footing to stand upright easier, she had an expressionless face displayed while staring at the man. "The light, I came to see where the bright light came from and it seems as though it came from your home's property. Am I wrong?" Hayden questioned, bringing her hand, which had a scroll hovering over it, and moved the blade carefully aside.

She stepped back, giving him some room so he wouldn't feel so intimidated by her presence; she lowered her hands to her sides. "I come in peace, no harm is to come of you."

Her Mare came more in to focus and Jordan knew that she wasn't lying. He slumped slightly and let his sword down.

"Yes, that is correct. I was attacked by a rather powerful... creature. I think that it was a creature of the Fourth Realm. Are you familiar with Archaien mythology? I could tell you all about it.
"I am not too familiar with it, but it sounds interesting," she replied back, moving her hands behind her back. "The creature definitely caused a bright light to shine quite a ways, I'm sure the town is at least a little shaken about what it was..."

Jordan smiled. "You see, the Archaiens believed that there are five realms of the world. First is the one we see, the one we are in. This is called Terrabaal. Then there is the next realm, called Finibaal. It's a giant forest where all animals go upon their death. It is said that men who had horses or dogs that they loved very much can visit the second realm after their own deaths to reclaim their beloved companion before moving on to whichever realm they go to. The third realm is called Medibaal, and it is where everyone who dies goes for a short period of time before their Mare is set before the Eternal Elders and judged for their holiness. From there they will either go to the Fourth realm, called Mortubaal, or the Fifth realm, called Halibaal. Mortubaal is where the evil men and women will go. It is a pit of fire and acid that does not destroy you, only causes immense pain. Other religions refer to this as 'hell'. Halibaal is essentially an infinite paradise where the few good men and women will go."
"I see... I suppose the Mare you saw was of Mortubaal?" Hayden questioned Jordan, she was twiddling her fingers behind her back, careful of her scrolls. "Even if it wasn't, what purpose did it have to come here? I mean, it seems stupid, although I can possibly see why... Boredom," she added; Hayden moved her feet into a more comfortable stance, so she wasn't rocking back and forth, inch by inch.

"I'm sure that the mare was from Mortubaal. Its aura was convincing enough of that. But even then, I still don't know why it came here. Spirits from the Fourth Realm are often sent here to do some bidding of their master. Who that is, no one knows. It's almost impossible to jump realms without dying and staying there permanently. There are powerful mages who could do it, but the strength is quite beyond me. You're a mage, aren't you? What language do you use? Gaerician? Vrae? Archaien?"
