She smiled a little sadly at what he said. Well, he'd see how different she was very soon. She couldn't hide giant wings coming from her back forever. Not if she was living with them. And it felt too much like a lie. "Well...if I'm going to be living with you, there's probably something you should know." She started to take off her sweatshirt. "I need to cut holes in the backs of my shirts for these." Isobel managed to slip it over her head without getting it caught on anything. She wore a green long sleeve shirt with large black wings coming from the slits in the back. They still felt a little cramped from the sweater, and she itched to stretch them out but she couldn't inside the house! That might break something.
he gets a curious look when she mentioned that there was something he should know, then got even more curious when she began too take off her sweatshirt, he then went wide eyed at the sight of these wings, he walks closer and gasps slightly "wow...where did you get these?" he asks curiously and gently touches them, then quickly pulls away, they went weird too him. he smiles and takes her into his room, which was nothing too special. a single bed with a chest full of toys, one notable thing was the fact he had shelves lined with custom lego creations with lego bricks that matched each other, and not random colors thrown together
She shrugged, her wings moving slightly with her shoulders. "I don't know. I've had them as long as I can remember." Which was about...four years. She still held her sweatshirt in her arms. It was a lot cooler without the stuffiness of her wings cramped under it. She followed the pull Chris' hand into another room. The tips of her wings just barely brushed the ground behind her. "Is this your room?" She slowly moved her free hand forward and her fingers bumped against one of the closer lego creations. "Oh, what's this?"
he was staring at her wings while she did this, they sparked his curiosity greatly. so when she asked the question it took him five or six seconds too respond, he shook his head "Oh, that is just a space ship I made with lego, If you did not know, Lego is plastic bricks with tiny little bumps at the top and little holes in the bottom, so they lock together and they stay together quite well" he says and looks around "I spend a lot of my free time either adventuring, or building lego. whether that be buildings, walkers, cars or space ships slash airplanes" he says and then giggles "the new lego movie got me back into playing with this stuff, as before it just sorted stayed their collecting dust" he says giggling
Isobel felt the thing all over very gently, afraid to break it. She was amazed by it. She kept running her hand over the bumps on top. "No way! They're all just made of tiny bricks??" She felt along the bottom and sure enough, the holes he mentioned were there too. "Whoever made these little things must be a genius!" She felt all along the smooth sides. "You're a genius! You must be a master builder or something!" She was utterly delighted. She'd never heard of legos, or ever had any toys at all.
he smiles "well they are bloody expensive the things" he says and runs his hand along another one, and he blushed a little "a Genius? a Master builder? I don't think so...but, thanks for thinking so" he says and looks around the room, then gasps and hits the floor, his sister had tackled him and she giggled "GOT YOU!" she yells giggling and he rolls his eyes chuckling "Yes...you did now please...be careful" he says and slowly gets up, and she pouts "sorry...I keep forgetting not too be rough with you..." she says and sighs guiltfuly, he smiles and kisses his sisters Forehead "its alright, why don't we all think of something to do with each other?" he suggests and his sister smiles "Yes! why don't we play with your lego!?" she asks begging
Isobel tensed at the sound of someone tackling Chris to the floor and gripped the knife handle in it's sheath at her waist. Had they found her already?? But no it was just his sister Samantha. She relaxed and released her grip on the knife. She smiled at the suggestion of playing with legos. She promptly sat down criss cross and held up the lego that she had. "I've got the space ship!" She sat there for a few seconds, frowning in thought. "What do space ships do?"
Chris smiles and sits down with his sister in his lap "Well..." Chris starts but his cut off by her sister giggles "oh here we go again..." she says and Chris shakes his head chuckling "oh quite you" he says jokingly and clears his throat "Well, that space ship is different from rocket space ships, it uses some sort of plasma fuel instead of rocket fuel. space ships do as their name suggests, they travel through space, like an air plane travels through the air, that ship has a hyperdrive thing too reach fast speeds too get to planets easily" he says happily and he also picks a space ship, his sister picks a littler one however
Isobel listened intently nodding to show she understood. And she did. After all she had to listen to scientists blather on and on to each other about many different scientific discoveries and theories while they... She shook her head. That wasn't something she wanted to remember. "I think actually flying yourself is much more fun. And shooting off into space sounds so cold and lonely. Even if there were other lifeforms on the planet you would land on, there's so much distance between the different planets that you would be alone longer than anything."
he nods slowly, and his sister giggles flying her space ship around the room "Chris is studying too be a space engineer! He hopes to be assigned too the inter national space station!" she giggles and Chris smiles "Well, I don't think I will get that far, but we can dream eh?" he says and flies his space ship around "wont it be lonely?" she asks softly and he nods "maybe, but I don't expect too fall in love with anyone...or rather, have anyone fall in love with me..." he says sighing and looks at his lego guy closely and then shakes his head trying too get his head off old memories
Isobel smiles as Samantha tells her about Chris' wish to be up in the international space station. She was a little surprised the girl hadn't noticed the black wings on her back. She hadn't bothered to cover them back up. "I think you could definitely make it, if that's what you aim for." She grinned and held up the space ship in her hands. "After all, you're very good at building already." He sounded a little different when he talked about loving someone or having someone love him. Like he'd had some past experience with it. She didn't ask about it. She knew what it was like to have painful or troubling memories. "Well, I'm not sure you can control that, but either way I think you could definitely be a space engineer."
he smiles softly and nods "thanks you two..." he says softly and breaths heavily, his sister had a child like thing where she just believed Isobel had toy wings. Sam hugs her brother gently and then flies her space ship around and Chris looked back at his lego guy before he began too fly around as well. He was trying too keep his memories off the past. he looks over at Isobel and smiles and sits next too her and flies his space ship around her
Isobel laughed and started flying her space ship too. Though she couldn't stand up and run around for fear of running into something, it was fun. She copied the sounds that Samantha was making. She smiled at Chris when he came over and sat by her. It was so nice of him to include her. He still seemed troubled though. "Are you ok?" She asked quietly. She had decided that it would be ok to ask that, since it wasn't really asking about whatever memories he was thinking about, just how he felt.
he did not answer her for a good minute or two "...ya, just dwelling on old memories..." he says sighing and flew his ship around a bit, but did not move from her side. His sister came over and laid her head in his lap on looked up at him "don't be sad..." she says sighing and rubs his arm gently and he sighs "Sorry...I am not normally a killjoy" he says and starts too fly his ship around again, trying too also put on a happy face as he did so
Isobel nodded solemnly and reached for his hand. She squeezed it lightly and smiled. "That's alright, Samantha and I will just have too make so much joy you won't be able to kill it all off and you'll feel better too." She starts to fly her space ship too, though perhaps a little more roughly than before. It came apart into two in her hands and for a moment she was still, her mouth a perfect "o" of surprise. "I broke it! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." She started feeling a little distressed. She had no idea how to put it back together, and Chris had spent so much time and effort on it! "I'm so sorry!"
Sam giggles and nods "Yep! sure will!" she says, and then he laughs "okay, more kill than joy could joy..." he then gets a confused face and laughs "no wait, that came out wrong. other way around!" he says and laughs, his sister does too and she flies around some more. Chris's flinched when he heard the familiar sound of lego snapping apart. he slowly spun his head around and looks at Isobel. he heard her get worked up and he smiled "no no Isobel, I probably need to just reinforce the middle" he says and takes the two pieces and he began to spread the pieces apart, so they were half on and half off the other bricks and he slide the two sections back together and he clamped them together and smiles "all better!" he says and hands the ship too her, Sam smiles "dont worry, I break his ships all the time" she says giggling
Isobel tilted her head. "Oh." That was easier to fix than she thought it would be. She grinned when he fixed it and handed it back to her. "Thank you!" She giggled with Sam about breaking his ships. "Well, I hope the real space ships don't break this easy, or I might actually have a problem with you going up to space." Her stomach growled and she blushed. It had been so loud. She'd completely forgotten about how hungry she was. "You don't think your parents will mind the, uh, wings will they?"
they both laugh "no, the ships are built better" Sam says happily and Chris giggled "Unless a chimpanzee built it, it should hold together" he says and stretches, his eyes go wide when he heard her stomach growl and Sam giggled "hungry are we?" she asks with a smirk, Chris's face fell when she mentioned the wings and he looked around "uhh...you can hide them right?" he asks curiously, His parents were actually very much christian, and if they saw her wings they might think she has been possessed or they might think she is some sort of demon.
She definitely felt relieved to hear that real ships were much more secure. Even though she still didn't think she'd ever get in one. Isobel smiles and nods when Sam asks if she was hungry and nods again when he asked her to hide her wings. She pulled the sweatshirt back over her head, making sure everything was tucked in and out of sight. "It'll be hard to hide it from them if I'll be living here though..." She could understand why she needed to hide them. She'd been chased out of towns for people thinking she was a demon. She'd also had to escape religious lunatics who would come to her asking for blessings and advice from God. It hadn't taken her long to learn to hide her wings in public.
he nods "Well...Isobel, just remember, no matter what happens I will always be right by your side" he says smiling, and Sam smiles "I will too!" she says happily and then she hugs Isobel softly, and after a few seconds she lets go and Chris smiles "lets go get something for you to eat" he says and walks out of the room and back downstairs
