The house sitting in the dark of the predawn had not been entered in years. It was surrounded on three sides by woods, and the fourth side--the front--faced a small town. The yard was wild and unkempt with roses and forget-me-nots planted by the long gone previous owner bursting out of the pots and neat rows they had been planted in. The building was in a similar state of disrepair. Several of its windows were cracked or broken out completely and all were dingy. Dull paint chipped away from the house and the roof needed to be reshingled badly.
A window on the top floor was open with rotted curtains moving lightly in the breeze. Inside the room was a girl pulling a sweatshirt much too large for her over her head. She yawned and felt around the room, covering her fingertips in dust and cobwebs. She did manage to find a light switch, but didn't bother flicking it on. The electricity to the house and undoubtedly been cut off without anyone to pay the electricity bills. She yawned again and finally found what she was looking for. A bed. She set her walking staff on the wall next to the bed and lifted the sheets over her body. "I knew I shouldn't have gone so far...I'm lucky to have found this place." She murmured drowsily to herself. The dust didn't bother her and she was about to fall asleep when she heard a noise.

Chris was wandering through the woods area near by the house, running around happily. He was a fourteen year old boy, though... he most of the time did not act fourteen. he smiles, now skipping everywhere with a very curious look. he was a very curious kid and always wanted to experiment or try new things, never ever letting someone else have all the fun too themselves. He had a black shirt on with a red hoodie with a large number ten on it written in yellow, he smiles and looks up and sees a house, he got a curious look and looks up at the sky "Has that always been there?" he asks himself curiously, then laughs "Well DUUUH, I dont think aliens or god picked up a house and just placed it here!" he says too himself laughing, He also had the tenancy too talk to himself. he soon walked over to the house
He tried to open the door but found it was quite heavy, he kept banging on it with the side of his body to try and open it and he sighed in defeat, "Screw you lays of physics or whatever!" he says and pouts folding his arms, then smiles and picks up a stick and gets a mischievous look on his face and smashes the window with it giggling and hops through it and looks around the house "HELLO!?!" he yells out looking around the place, his black shoes with blue stripes making crunching sounds as he stepped on the glass. he smirks "if any ghosts are here I will call a certain company on you!" he says giggling, sure the Ghost Busters did not exist, but in his mind ghosts were too stupid too know that! he then sees some stairs and tilts his head...there were foot steps in the dirt and dust coating the floor. he runs one hand through his short, yet thick red hair and looks around and sighs softly getting a worried look "Well...I came this far" he says softly and starts too carefully walk up the stairs

Isobel sat for a while, listening. Whoever it was that was in the house made more noise than a full out circus. She thought there might be more than one person, but no, there was only one set of footsteps. She waited, hoping that whoever it was would be satisfied with rooting around downstairs and leaving. If she could only be so lucky. Once she heard that the person was climbing up the stairs she silently slipped off the bed and drew the dagger hidden at her belt. Her quiet footsteps were easily covered by the noise the person was making and she felt the urge to roll her eyes. Funny how she still had those kinds of urges.
Isobel listened at the door and was relieved when she heard the voice. It was just a boy. Hardly anything to be worried about. She was about to put her dagger back when a thought hit her. This could be fun. She still had white cloth wrapped around her eyes instead of the dark sunglasses she normally wore when she was expecting to see people and this house was supposed to be haunted. She could scare him off and by the time he'd get around to telling people and bringing them back here she'd be long gone. She waited til the boy was just outside the door and swung it open, her dagger held high. "What do you think you're doing?"

he walks all the way up the stairs, holding his stomach feeling uneasy as he looked around the place. he slowly tip toed around "H-hello?" he calls out "I dont want to...hurt any of you, even if you are ghosts!" he says quickly, he did not want to anger the spirits. he slowly shook as he looked around the corner of the hall, sitting between the stair well and the hall. he slowly continued walking and looking around and then screamed when the door flung open and jumped back on the wall seeing the knife and stayed on the wall scared too death shaking violently holding his chest. he could not speak, not because of the knife but because he had a weak heart, he felt the pain shooting through his chest and shook and slowly slide down the wall in fear, he had medication but he was too scared to grab it, "W--....wha..." he could not make much out, but his voice sounded like it was full of pain
((Oh my god this isn't even really happening and I feel terrible X3))
Isobel about jumped back when the boy screamed. She lowered the knife, sheathing it back at her waist. She really wasn't sure what to do now. Pranking wasn't really her thing, and the boy was still there. He hadn't run off. "Don't worry I won't hurt you. You're a lot braver than I thought." She didn't think he'd want her coming close to him but she felt strange just standing in the doorway. Instead, she went and sat next to the wall of the hall. Everything felt grimy so she just sat on her haunches. When she heard the pain in his voice she grew worried. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't make you fall back on anything sharp did I?" She reached forward like she usually would for someone who was hurt but she hesitated. It was her fault he was hurt in the first place.

((You should meanie! jk ))
Brave? brave? BRAVE?! he was not brave! he was as scared as if he had just seen the devil! he was only there because he could PHYSICALLY could not move! he held his chest tightly and gasps looking at her he was starting too calm down but not enough, he would die if he did not find away to grab it but all his muscels in his arms and legs had seized up at this point, he tried speaking but could not he only coughed, he looked at her with tears in his eyes coming to the realization he might actually die! he then fought harder and spoke "H-help..." he whimpered softly "b-bottle...pocket...l-left" he whimpers out and gasps "G-get!" he says his voice full of pain

Well that decided it then. He was asking her for help. She came over and knelt by him. As soon as she touched his hand she gasped. "Your heart...oh my god I'm so sorry." She started patting all over his body. Without being able to see, it was hard to figure out exactly where he meant and it didn't sound like he had a lot of time. She slipped her hand under his shirt, ignoring any protest he might be making until her hand rested over his heart. "This will only take a second." Her hand started glowing blue through the shirt and the boy would've have felt warmth coming from the spot. Maybe a little tingling. "It won't hurt, I promise."
"it...its..." he wanted to say it was fine for her doing this but he just could not find the words, he could never blame her if he died today. He was too kind for that, she did not know, how could she know. he closed his eyes waiting for the end, and then his eyes jolted open feeling her hand go under his shirt, he squirmed a little since he was A. ticklish and B. VERY self conscious, but then he saw the glow glow through his shirt and the tingling feeling "w...wha..." he asks softly and felt his heart rate slow down and he gasps softly and calms down resting his head on the wall looking up at her tiredly "..h...how?" he asks
She smiled faintly and drew her hand out from under his shirt. "Magic." A much easier explanation than the real answer. Not that she had the energy to really say anything else anyways. Isobel didn't even try standing back up again. She was exhausted at this point. No, she'd been exhausted when she came to this house. Right now she was surprised she was still awake. She managed to sit beside the boy and lean back against the wall before actually passing out, her head hung down and her breathing as easy as one sleeping.
he was so confused yet amazed at the same time, he wanted to hug her, or kiss her or give her money or a new toy or something! she had just saved his life! he wanted to show his gratitude any way possible! he quickly looked at her "thank you thank you so so mu-" he stopped seeing she was asleep and smiled "oh...I see am I really that boring?" he asks jokingly and yawned feeling tired. he slowly and shakily stood up and looked at the room she went into and saw a bed, he slowly picked her up and shakily walked into the room and slowly set her on the bed, then yawned and slide down the side of the bed, his head and arms at the end of the bed and his leg and body on the floor and he yawned again sleepily
Isobel had used a lot of energy and needed more sleep than normal. It was likely that the boy woke up before she did. When she did finally wake up, sunlight was shining through the open window and the distant sounds of the town drifted in. She was surprised to find herself back in the bed. For a moment she was disorientated. Then she remembered what had happened. "Oh my god, don't tell me I killed a person." She felt immensely guilty about having scared the boy and causing the whole problem in the first place. Isobel reached out for her staff on the wall and swung her feet off the bed, stepping down onto the floor.
he had awoken before she did, but he was just laying on the floor by the bed, however that meant she had stood on his chest and he rolled away and yelped "OW!" he looks at her and giggles "what is with you and my chest!?" he asks jokingly and gets up and walks over to her "thanks for saving me by the way! I dont have anything to give you so...I guess I will show my appreciation" he says happily and hugs her softly "but if you ever need anything just say okay!" he says and jumps up and down and then looks around "nice place you have! did you pick out the furniture? who am I saying you are a kid! of course you did not, how did you get here? by train? by boat? by car? by spaceship!?' he asks and then laughs "because apparently man has spaceships now" he says giggling and then frowns "do you think I am annoying?" he asks sadly, he seemed to be all over the place in terms of tones and emotions
Isobel quickly pulled her foot back up when she heard the shout. She blushed a little as she remembered healing him. It really had been intimate touching someone like that. "Well, you shouldn't be sleeping in floors!" She smiled. His laughter and energy was infectious. "Ah...you really don't have to thank me, since I was the one who did it." But he was hugging her and after a moment she hugged him back. "I think we're actually even." For the rest of what he said, she didn't even get a chance to respond. She stood up off the bed and smiled. "Of course I don't think you're annoying. You're just full of life." Isobel actually felt kind of relieved that he had stayed. It wasn't often that she met other kids her age and wasn't in danger.
he smiles and nods "full of life thanks too you!" he says happily and stretches looking around, then looked at her and looked at her hard and long, taking in her features, he wanted to ask why she was covering her eyes but he felt it be rude. he just sort of stood there looking around as if he wanted to say something, if Chris was ever quite, people KNEW something was wrong, he then looks back at her and clears his throat "So..." he starts and clears his throat again and tugs on the collar of his shirt "W-why do you have the...white bandages covering your eyes?" he asks softly and looks at her bandages hard and long
Isobel smiled, facing his general direction, though not really seeing him. Her ears were quite sensitive and allowed her to pinpoint people perfectly. He was quiet for a while though, so different from the constant noise and questions he'd been making earlier. She could tell he wanted to say something, and really it could be anything. She had realized long ago that there were several things separating her from the norm of other people. When he asked about her bandages, she touched them lightly and self-consciously. It was her turn to be quiet for a while. People are cruel. She didn't say this though. "You wouldn't want to see what's underneath, trust me." She tilted her head thoughtfully. "If it bothers you, I can just wear my sunglasses." Right about then, her stomach made a big grumbling noise. She laughed. "I guess I'm a little hungry. I'll have to change to glasses anyways if I want to go out."
he looked confused, she had said that but... he was still concerned "Then lets find something to eat" he says softly and takes her hand and starts to walk "but my question was, WHY you have them...I want to know, I need to know" he says looking at her "someone took your sight from you didn't they?" he asks angrily "some idiot took a wonderful gift from you!!? I will stab them in the eyes with glass!" he yells and then covers his mouth and then sighs "sorry... I just hate people" he says and looks around "w-well not all people no I like you, and my family..." he gasps "MY FAMILY!" he yells and jumps up and down "they have to be worried sick about me!" he says sounding very worried and shocked
Isobel let him lead her. "Remember I can't see. Don't walk me into a wall or anything like that." He continued to talk about her eyes, or rather lack of them and came to the right conclusion. Usually took people longer. She felt gratified at his response, that he would get so worked up over it happening to her--a stranger. She hugged his back. His words...they were exactly what she thought and felt every morning she woke up and the darkness didn't lift. "Thank you for metaphorically stabbing those people in the eyes." She let go and listened to him talk. "What?? Well, before anything else you should go and tell your family you're alright. Don't want them to get worried and send out search teams."
he thinks for a moment, then smiles and takes her hand "I will go home...with you though!" he says happily and hugs her close "I want you to come back with me! I want you to stay with me! I want you to be in a safe place, with me by your side! I want to help you! I feel so bad, Now I am going to forever right this down as the day I said the letter I more than any person has ever in their life time!" he says giggling and then smiles "but I digress... I really do you want to stay with me, we can be best friends and I can take care of you! Like a dog to help you walk, only I can feed myself and wont run off to chase a mail man!" he says giggling
"Oh, ok." She was really just surprised that he'd want to do that. "Just let me get rid of these bandages real quick." Isobel walked into another room where he couldn't see her and started unwrapping the bandages from her head. They could still talk though. She thought she'd just start crying when he offered his home to her. A few tears did slip out and she was glad he couldn't see them. She quickly wiped them away and placed the sun glasses into place before going back out into the hallway. "Don't you think your parents might object to that? And besides, I tend to attract dangerous people..." She didn't want to bring that on him. She smiled. "We can still be best friends though...and sometimes I can go a really long time without seeing any dangerous men..." She did so want to stay and to have friends like a normal girl. If only for a little while. "Woof, woof." She laughed.
he shakes his head "I wont LET them reject" he says sternly "they have to take you in, and any mad man that tries to hurt you or touch you, I WILL stab in the eyes" he says folding his arms and takes her hand "I will do this regardless whether you agree or not, I dont need you being alone AND blind here" he says and sighs, then giggles a bit when she makes her dog noises and he looks up at her "so just come with me? it will make my life and your life easier if we are there for each other" he says happily, he wanted her to come with him, he was so worried about her and about her health and safety, and these bad men she is talking about. he then gasps "oh right! how rude!" he says and shakes her hand "My name is Chris Vadumee" he says happily
