Tolora took off her already spotless glasses and cleaned them with her shirt. They were completely pointless for her to wear. Her eyes were fine. Had to keep up appearances though. Her hands reluctantly fitted the glasses back onto her face. She was supposed to be smart, Erudite smart. And she certainly wasn't dumb, but compared to the other children in school she was average. She squared her shoulders and looked ahead, at the back of another child dressed in Erudite blue. A large group of people dressed in Amity yellow were laughing and talking loudly but she couldn't bring herself to share in their bubbly joy. Today was Choosing Day.
A train horn sounded nearby and sure enough the train comes, Dauntless spilling out of its side. Now that was an exciting faction. Her eyes followed them as they yelled and whooped into the building. She wasn't the only one watching them. Several pairs of longing eyes watched them, but how many would be brave enough to actually change their faction and join them?

Anastasia glanced around at the other Amity members in her fraction and quickly pressed herself further into the crowd wondering if anyone else was this nervous, or if they could tell she was. she heard the train sound and watched in interest as the dauntless jumped yelling and laughing obviously enjoying them selfs. Today in a mater of moments would be the day her life could change forever all depending which bowl she decided to drip her blood into. She had no idea where she would go. Stay with Amity the life she has always known? There was no what of knowing where she belonged her test results were inconclusive, she was Divergent. Though she knew she couldn't tell anyone other than that she had no idea what being divergent ment.
Suddenly snapping her out of her thoughts the croud began to move into the Hub. This was it.

Tolora noticed a nervous looking girl from Amity. She was a little surprised to see they could get nervous, though of course they could be, they were human too. Amity were just always so happy, it was hard to believe they could even get stressed out. She gave the girl an encouraging smile and didn't know if she saw it. Tolora lost sight of her in the crowd.
She held her breath as they walked into the Hub and took their seats. There were so many people inside. And this wasn't even counting the factionless that also lived in the city. Tolora couldn't take her eyes off the five bowls in the center. She would spill her blood in one of those bowls today, and possibly change her fate forever. Whatever happened today, she was determined not to let life go on being the same anymore. But which to pick? Amity? God no. No way they were even going to come near her with a skirt and a ukelele. Abnegation? That might just be worse. Candor? Ha. She wasn't exactly honest.
That left Dauntless. Her heart raced. A life of excitement and danger. A probably shorter life, and it would definitely be different...

Anastasia sat fidgeting waiting for her name to be called. After what seemed like eturnity she heard it. She stood and straightened her shirt trying to conceal her nervousness and put on the amity mask she had mastered as she walked to the bowls. Her heart felt like it would beat out of her chest at any moment but she could hardly notice because she was numb. This is it. She had no idea where to go so why not stay? She sliced her palm and held her hand over the Amity bowl. Before the blood could drop she quickly moved her hand over the hot coals of dauntless. She heard a few gasps from the crowd behind her. But she smiled to herself, she was finally free. But what would dauntless bring?
As she walked over to sit with dauntless a guy with piercings covering his face clapped her on the back and offered his seat. Gratefully she took it and glanced around at her new fraction taking note of all the tattoos and piercings. 'What have I gotten into?' She thought. Sitting back she watched as Erudite names began being called out.

Tolora blinked in surprise as the Amity girl from earlier picked Dauntless. That barely ever happened. The two factions were total opposites. She felt a surge of competition. If this girl from Amity could pick Dauntless and smile about it, she could certainly make the same decision. Tolora's nervousness was gone. She knew exactly what her decision would be.
When her name was called, Tolora walked with her head held high, and did not waver over any bowls. Her blood sizzled as it hit the hot coals of Dauntless. She heard gasps and whispers from her faction, her ex-faction now and turned to look her father in the eyes. Then she took the glasses off her face and snapped them in half before going to sit with Dauntless. They greeted her with whoops and she smiled nervously at the Amity-Dauntless girl. "Thanks. You gave me the courage to do that, you know." She whispered to the girl as she sat down next to her.

Anastasia sat up straighter and held her head high after what that girl had said. She leaned over and whispered "No problem. Now the tough part begins" she watched scilently as the rest of the names were called and everyone chose. Everyone stood and began exiting the hub. Dauntless of corse started running. While it was tough to keep up she wasn't about to let herself fall behind. So she pushed on harder.
After what seemed like endless running we finally stoped at the train tracks. One if the dauntless born was explaining how to jump on but She could hardly hear over the sound of her heart pounding in her ears. Nervously she looked at the Erudite girl. "Ready?" She whispered.

Tolora nodded. Dauntless would definitely be hard to train for, but better than Candor asking you what your deepest secret was... She stood up with the rest of the Dauntless and followed their running footsteps down the stairs. Keeping up made her lungs burn but she refused to fall behind. Adrenaline pumped through her with the whooping calls of the Dauntless. They were all together, a pack.
She paused at the train tracks. Guess training started right away. She watched other Dauntless-born run onto the train with ease. "Ready as I'll ever be." She said to the girl and ran with the train a ways. She reached for a handle but her hold wasn't strong enough and it jerked right out of her hand. This was harder than she thought. She watched again and ran. This time she threw her whole body onto the train, smashing and probably bruising her side, but keeping a hold. She stepped into the train and looked to see how the Amity girl was doing. It had to be hard to do this in a skirt. Tolora bit her lip in guilt. Maybe she should have stayed behind to help her first.

Anastasia gathered her skirts and followed the motions of the others the Erudite girl had made it with little complication. This was almost like back home jumping to the backs of the slow moving trucks after picking apples. Of corse this was a heck of a lot faster but the concept was close. She jumped slamming into the floor of the train. Knocking the air out of her lungs in the process. Standing up and concealing the fact she was gasping for air she gave the Erudite girl a smile and moved to stand by her "we'll that was interesting" she laughed. Jerking her head in the direction of the dauntless born she continued "They make it look so easy."
Tolora smiled, relieved that the Amity girl had made it on. "Yeah, interesting is one way to put it." She rubbed her bruised backside and looked enviously at the Dauntless. "They've had a lot more practice though too." She grinned at the girl. "One day, we'll be able to jump trains that easy too. My name's Tolora by the way."
"I'm annast-"she paused. I can change that now she continued "Anna. I'm Anna nice to meet you."
Suddenly she caught sight of movement out of her peripheral vision. Peeking her head a little further out of the train, Her eyes grew wide. "There jumping!!"

Tolora leaned out the door. Yup they were definitely jumping. Crap. She looked back at Anna. "Guess we're having a crash course." She said it with all seriousness. Humor wasn't really taught by the Erudite, and it certainly wasn't a trait that popped up often there. She peeked out again. They were much closer now, and she could see the gap between the roof of the building they were jumping onto and the train. "We'll have to take a running jump." She reached out with her hand towards Anna. "Together?"
"Together" she repeated. Taking a running leap we jumped landing hard on the ground. Gasping for air she looked at Tolora and grinned "holy crap we just jumped from a train!" Glancing at the scrape on her elbow "okay so not without afew scrapes" Getting up from the ground she dusted her skirts off then went to the fat side of the roof where everyone was gathering.
Tolora sprinted out of the train, afraid that going slow might not get her far enough. She landed feet first on the building and ended up rolling and scraping her side. She stopped with her back on the roof, staring up at the sky. Suddenly she started giggling. "A moving train! We made it though!" She got up and dusted herself off. She followed Anna over to the crowd and wondered what they were going to test the initiates with next.
