Technocracy

My sister was left scarred on the left of her neck and collarbone after a fire started in her bedroom as a baby. She's been nicknamed Lucky ever since, mainly because whenever she became upset or self conscious about the scarring, my dad would always say that it's her lucky charm.

Someone actually felt the need to tell my sister that she wears clothing that "exposes her burns" so that people will feel sorry for her.

She dresses as modestly as anyone else; t-shirts, jeans, dresses and such. The location of her scarring makes it impossible to cover with any standard garments, are they expecting her to wear turtle necks and headscarves? Is that what it takes to stop people from calling her an attention seeker? She's self-conscious enough.

Holy heck, these edgy girl-groups infuriate me. On a good end note, she was accepted into a law studies course at university <3
Eh I hate people in general. TONS of the mare incredibly rude, ignorant and just generally annoying :/ sorry to hear what happened to you sister when she was a baby. Just tell her to not let some people's idocy and rudeness get to her. And thats good that she got accepted into that law studies course :3

"Well, if I had an unfortunate injury, I would be sure to show it off as much as possible to get sympathy. Therefore, it's perfectly okay for me to assume that this other person is doing the exact same thing, and I should make them feel bad about it."

^Idiot logic. Some people just can't comprehend the idea that not everybody is trying to use their differences to get attention. Attention hounds assume that everybody who stands out in some way is a fellow (or enemy) attention hound.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about that. Hope she does well at her university.
Wow, I have no idea how I would have reacted if I were in her shoes. I don't think it's fair just because someone has a scar of some sort they should feel obligated to hide it somehow. Especially when the person in question is doing nothing to flaunt the fact they have one. Some people are just meddling like that, I guess. I hope she doesn't have to deal with that often, though. I'm sure not everyone's that rude!

But hey it's awesome she got accepted! Law studies are pretty tough! Good luck to her!
Urgh. I've gotten the same kind of comments because of a surgical scar that goes up to my collar bone. People seem to think I'm 'not allowed' or 'brave' to wear anything less then a turtleneck even in 100 degree heat because I'm 'showing it off.' Tell your sister to just look at them like they're crazy for even pointing it out. "My what? I forgot that was even there, what about it." Make them the ones making a big deal about it, they're the ones who should be embarrassed, not her. Or slap them with a chair. Either is good.

Conversely it helps with the embarrassment of others that mine makes a beeline into the boob region that's pretty clear even though I dun wear low necklines. I can just demand why they're checking out the bresticles... perhaps she can loudly accuse them of being neck fetishists? Worth a try.

Seriously, screw those people. She sounds like an amazingly bright girl with no reason to be self-conscious at all. GO HER GETTING INTO LAW SCHOOL! CONFETTI ALL AROUND!
