The obnoxious music, paired with the raucous tavern goers, gave me quite an impressive headache. The boisterous activities, including, but definitely not limited to: yelling, smashing, fighting, breaking, and, well, you get the point. Let’s not forget to mention the thick smoke from the lanterns and the stench of a farmer’s long day at work that seemed to curl its way into every nook and cranny in this despicable tavern.
I shook my head, surveying the crowded room over the edge of my drink. My light hair fell in long sheets over a single side of my face, the other safely pinned back by the silver circlet inlaid with a single blood ruby that sat across my brow, marking me as a Mage. I normally enjoy taverns of this caliber, and would often join in the singing and cheering, but not tonight, tonight I was recruiting people worthy enough to join me on an adventure to destroy the black dragon Iberras.
“Barbarians.” I muttered into my drink as I witnessed one man smash his mug over another man’s head, exclaiming some absurd comment that I will choose not to repeat.

A red haired lady sat across from him. Strikingly tall, and her eyes practically glowed yellow. The most striking feature was that the entire right side of her body was encompassed in ice. She leaned back in her chair, wearing loose clothes. "So. You looking for something?"
Kara had also been in the Tavern. She had some sort of odd looking bronze weapon with her. It was clearly not a sword or a Bow. The weapon was foregin, as was she, coming from a more advanced country, most likely on a different continent or possibly even a different realm. Should any random drunkard decide to punch or slap her in the face they'd get quite a surprise. She seemed to be contently sipping on a mug. There were several empty mugs next to her, with her travel buddy, Begad, a small brightly colored cat-like creature with a HUGE grin on its face. It gulped down several mugs of beer by now, still being completely sober. "I liek this place"Begad said, after watching a drunkard beating another with their mug. "It's entertaining."He said with the grin still plastered on his face.
My eyes snapped back to look at the strange woman in front of me. She was tall, and I raised an eyebrow at the ice but I didn't question it. It wasn't the strangest I had seen.
"Have you heard of the dragon Iberras?" I asked quietly before my eyes continue their search around the room, lingering on the capable looking young woman with the strange weapon.

"No. I haven't. Are you looking to hunt him?" Athena asked. "If you are, I'm willing to do some dragon hunting."
I chuckled softly, shaking my head. How naive.
"Iberras is not just any dragon. You see, he is the dragon. You don't just hunt and slay him like you would any other dragon." I said with my head bowed to my drink, staring at my dim reflection in the dark ale. "He hunts you, and you pray he slays you quickly." My meaning was to try and scare her off, to see if she was, in fact, strong enough to handle this. I did this to everyone seeking to join me in my party.

"Then why are you here if you seem so sure no one can fight him?" She replies, leaning back in her chair. "It's a bit counter-productive."
I shrugged, taking a sip of my drink.
"You see, I at least want to try. I'm quite potent with my weaponry," I gestured to the bow leaning on the table, "and trying is better than nothing. Can you imagine how much our lives would change if we managed to defeat him?" I smiled widely, leaning foward and crossing my arms against the table. "All the money we would need to live comfortably for the rest of our lives, and our children, and their children too. Songs would be sung about us for generations. We would become the most powerful people in all of the kingdom!" I finished as I looked for a response from the woman in front of me.

"Then, like I said, you can count me in." Athena replied. "It might be dangerous, but we wouldn't get anywhere if we didn't take chances.
I smirked before leaning back into my chair, folding my arms.
"I like how you think. Consider yourself hired." I voiced. "Now would you mind helping me look for more people? Preferably a healer at least. Unless you are capable in the healing arts?" I doubted it. She looked more like a fighter than someone who could close a wound with a spell.

"I do destruction magic. I don't think it can get any farther away from 'restorative arts.'" Athena replied plainly.
I outright laughed at that.
"That is true! Might I ask, what is your name?" My eyes continued their search for more fighters.

"Hey I think that guy over there lieks you... Hey I know what'd catch his attention!"Begad said, making wild assumptions from one glance. "Begad I don't think he likes me. The guy doesn't even kn-"."You should do that party trick! Y'know the one where you pop your head off and stick it in your-"."BEGAD! I did that ONCE! When I was Drunk! There's no way I'm doing that when I'm sober! I can't believe you'd even think of that..."Kara snapped, blushing heavily. She was surprised when she didn't here a comeback from the Cat Spirit. She looked next to her seeing Begad was gone. "Oh no...."She said.
"You're wanting to hunt a Dragon?!"Begad asked enthusiastically popping out of the counter infront of Arthial, having listened to some of the conversation.

"My name? Athena." She replied, casting a glance and the new approach.
I jumped back, spilling my ale on Athena as I noticed our newcomer. I quickly composed my self and offered Athena a rag before speaking to the creature. "Who's asking?" I inquired at the beast. My mind shamed me. I am a Mage trained in the summoning arts! I should be used to strange creatures appearing out of nothing! Perhaps I had better stop drinking.
"I'm asking"Begad said with a chuckle. "I am so sorry about that"KAra said running up to the trio, pulling Begad all the way out of the counter and holding him by the scruff. "He's a forest Sprit they can get kinda rambunctious"Kara said putting on an apologetic smile.
Athena quietly worked on scrubbing the drink out of her clothes. "So, what can you do then? Party tricks? Because I'm pretty sure that thing was asking us about it for you."
"I really shouldn't just do it in public. It's kind of... uh..."."Aw screw it"Begad said. With that he grabbed onto Kara's head and tugged, taking her head off. "This is all she needs to live"Begad said holding up Kara's head. "BEGAD!"Kara shouted angrily.
Icarus suddenly flies down in front of Arthial after being thrown by a random drunk idiot in this lovely and most elegant of places. Unfortunately, this knocked a few mugs of ale all over Athena.
Icarus looked over at Arthial with a friendly smile. "Y'need someone who c'n heal? I c'n heal! I got this sword, y'know? But, it's not just any ol' borin' sword! It's got tha power to use all kinds of magic! It c'n use fire magic, water magic, ice magic, dark magic, wind magic, electric magic, and holy magic for healin'! It c'n also cut stuff like any ol' sword, y'know? Oh, an' by tha way..."
Icarus got up into Arthial's face, now looking serious and ready to kill if need be. "If that dragon is threatening the lives of any innocent people, I cannot let it simply roam free as it goes out and kills people. I know, it is not my place to decide whether something is to live or die, but I believe anything that endangers innocent people on purpose is not worthy of life."
Icarus backs up and smiles again. "So, whaddya say? C'n I come too?"

I was shocked at everything happening at once. First, some girl rips her head off, then a guy suddenly starts talking quickly and getting in my face. I took a step back to process everything that had happened. "First of all, what the **** whoever the hell you are, that's kinda cool," I said first to the girl "and you, slow down and explain that clearer." I cast an apologetic look at Athena.
