A dark haired girl lets out a sigh as she steps out of the building, clearly annoyed with whatever happened inside. She was mumbling to herself a bit as she quickly moved to the side of the building but the only words that could be heard were, "idiots.... what do they think I am?.....they just wanna torture me more..." and a few strings of curses as she disappeared or at least she hoped she did. It was a rather large building where several people met for meetings but the thing was that it was designed to keep every human that entered form seeing any anomalies in those who are inside, such as the girl's strangely bright red eyes that held nothing but anger, pain and something else....sadness? regret? possibly. Once she checked to see if anyone had followed her, she shifted into a normal size black wolf and darted into the woods, leaving the building and it's people far behind.
Whitford leaned back against the tree he'd climbed, situated safely on a stout branch. He whittled away at a small ivory tusk he'd recently acquired and listened closely to the sounds of the forest. There hadn't been much activity, but he wanted to keep a good lookout.
He heard rustling; ever quiet, but definitely there. He stopped his whittling and put his things away, lightly crouching on the branch. With deft, quite hands he drew his crossbow, pulling the front sight forward to extend the limbs. They locked into place with an audible click.

The dark wolf kept running, faster and faster. She didn't want to be there anymore and she was going to leave it behind for now. She just wanted the time to herself, to relax. She started to slow down when she heard the running water of a river.
She walked over to the river, lapping some up with her tongue before rising her head and shifting back into her human form, sitting Indian style and let out a sigh. She began to remove her heels. She wore a simple pair of gray dress pants, black button down dress shirt and a gray blazer. Her heels were black and she set her sore feet in the cool water.

Whit had set up camp near, though not over the river in hopes that animals would gather there. He'd seen a flicker of black blast by at breakneck speed. He couldn't follow anywhere near that fast at his position, but he started making his way over there anyway. Keeping to the trees and taking very careful steps onto nearby branches, he made his way to the river.
What he saw surprised him; a young woman in formalwear, relaxing her feet in the water. He thought of the black blur he'd seen, eyes widening. She could've been in great danger.
Putting his hand to his mouth, he let out a whistle to get her attention. "Ma'am, it's dangerous out here! There are wild animals about!"

Mai looked up at the man in the tree that had whistled at her, thinking for a minute it might be a cat call but shook it off when he spoke, it was hard for her not to laugh. Wild animals meant nothing to her, she could change into them whenever she wanted and take them down with ease.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." She called back, calm with this all. Of course, she could understand the need for concern now as she was a tall, somewhat lanky woman in formal wear that didn't look to possess a weapon on her person.

Whit shook his head and started to climb down from his perch. "I don't think you understand. I just saw one pass through. Probably just a fox, but it could be something worse; a wolf or a coyote. You don't want to be here if they're near."
He reached out his hand to grab at her wrist, meaning to lead her back to wherever it was safe.

Mai quickly yanked her wrist form his grip, hoping he didn't feel the cold form the metal on her right hand and partly her wrist. She stood up and shook her head. "Seriously, kid, I will be fine. What you probably saw might have been me. If it was dark colored, than it was me. I do have black hair." She let out a small sigh, trying to keep her calm.
She was a bit surprised that he didn't find it strange that she was out this far in the woods. Most business women weren't quite much into the woods and defiantly not going out in clothes like her's.

He glared at her. "I'm no child. I'm a hunter, and you're an irresponsible civilian. What the heck are you doing out here anyway?"
Mai's eye twitched a bit as she tried to keep her calm. "I came out here to relax after a quite infuriating meeting. I vill be fine, I'm not as veak as you zhink. Und since I am probably five or six years older zhan you, I believe calling you a kid should not matter." Mai's accent was showing more on the German side as she tried to keep form lashing out at him.
Whit tsked in annoyance. "Whatever. You probably spoiled my hunt anyway. I'll be on my way." He pulled the front sight back on his crossbow to fold the limbs in and put it over his shoulder by the strap.
"Don't get eaten. It would be a pain reporting a dead body." He'd never liked technology, nor the police. With that, he trudged away, without any spoils.

Let a small growl rumble in the back of her throat, though it didn't sound anything like a human being could ever make. She was ticked off with this guy now, it wasn't his business why she was here and it was terrible to think that she really was weak enough to get killed by the animals that wondered these woods.
"Humans, you are all idiots." She mumbled as the growling stopped form her, her red eyes had turned a darker color as she whipped back around to the river before her and replaced her feet in it and laid down on the ground, staring up at the sky.

Whit paused at the growl and her statement. "Excuse me?" He turned to face her. "That's an odd statemt coming from..." He trailed off and stared. Then, as quietly as he could, he started to draw his knife from his boot; a large one edged with a silver finish.
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
Mai rolled her bright red eyes. "No one you need to point a knife at." She raised in right hand, the metal, the sun light glaring off of it. "It won't do any good since it can't pierce this. I am not going to hurt you as long as you don't attack me. I just have a short temper and the growl slipped out form annoyance."
Though she wouldn't be able to see it, he cast a glare her way. He sighed and regretted losing that Vorpal blade he'd forged. He missed being able to snicker-snack through armor. "So you're not human? You look human enough. What are you, then?"
Mai rolled her eyes. "That would be none of your business. Most humans fear my kind senselessly. Fictional stories betray us as such heartless, greedy, and evil creatures, most being quite physically ugly, though not all of us are, most with inflated egos, but not all." She said calmly, still staring up at the sky. "I thought my eyes would give you a clue that I wasn't human, very few have red eyes and dark hair, or live pass being a teen."
Whit shook his head and walked up to the stream. It did look like a nice place to dip your feet. He sat at the bank, not turning to face her.
"I've seen 'foreign' creatures before, but I can't think of what you are. I'm more familiar with animals. Hydra, assorted flying wyverns, cerberi, and jackalope I've had particularly close encounters with. However, I've been fortunate enough not to encounter any women."

Mai had to laugh at that. The way he said it made it sound like he didn't want to meet any women. "I'm sorry, that was just funny to me. My kind are known by many names and are usually burned at the stake in the older times. Ever heard of the Salem Witch Trails? That might help you a good bit in figuring out what I am."
She thought for a second then quickly said, "But don't fear me for it, I only know how to shift my form, heal minor wounds, and cast one illusion spell."

He shook his head. "It's not that I don't like women, it's just that I find them... destructive." He tugged off his boots and set his feet in the water. "So a witch... I've never trusted magic, but you seem harmless enough at the moment. And what about your other form? And illusion spell?"
Mai let out a chuckle at that comment about women, she hadn't really let out a laugh in quite some time. "That can very true for some women but not all."
She thought, trying to place it in words. "My forms are only animals that I've seen. Usually I don't change out of my current form though, it is hard to keep my hand form detaching form my body when shifted. The illusion spell isn't really anything much. It's more of just a trick to escape quickly. It sends anyone I choose form any distance into complete darkness or that is what they see. It is simply turning off the part of the brain that is able to process images and colors. It doesn't physically damage the person though, they only become damage if they try to move around and bump into other things."

"Hm... Interesting." He clasped his hands together and looked into the water. "So that was you back there? I can't see what else it could've been. I haven't seen any animals all day." He procured the knife and tusk and started at his whittling again. "I suppose I won't be leaving here with that pelt I was hoping for."
He wasn't sure what to do now. Game was scarce nowadays, and he lived off of forging from hide and steel. The materials he did come by were decent, but not nearly as fantastic as the ores he found back in the kingdom.
