I've noticed during my time here that a lot of 1x1 RPers prefer RPing via PMs as they're harder to accidentally overlook (you get the unread message count up in the corner of your screen, which is harder to miss than routing through forum threads). but as RPR seems to lack any real-time notification alerts, a fast-moving RP could get considerably slowed down by the delay between players refreshing pages.

If PMs had the real-time chat window option that forum threads have, it'd be easy to counter that, without having to mess around with e-mail inboxes. I understand if that kind of mechanic is not possible using this site's coding, but I just thought it would be worth at least bringing up, given its something that could potentially help speed up RPs with players who have limited schedules but stick around the site during the free time that they do have.

Very much planned, and progress was made toward this goal earlier this year! This feature was impossible without that new underlying code. So the stage has been set. Realistically, I suspect it will be released early 2015.
