As demons flooded through the portal, multiple knights held off the attack while mages provided support magic from the massive, stronghold's walls. After about 20 minutes the knights barricade fell, and the reinforcements had not yet arrived. Multiple paladins came rushing through the strongholds doors and managed to hold the demon hoard off. After the first wave 50 knights had fallen as well as 8 paladins. a youthful paladin named Hax emerged from the gates. He was a sergeant in the army and a combat healer. As he was mending wounded infantrymen a portal opened and more demons pooled from the opening. Hax ready s his mace and starts fending off the demon hoard.

Pez was sitting on a large rock over looking the battle. He was neither, a creature of heaven or hell, but was clearly not a normal being. He had a human-like face, the front body of a cougar, fur covered chitinous legs, and a long powerful tail ending in a large stinger that had the capability to concoct unique poisons and venoms.

As the second wave had retreated, Hax was wounded in the arm and the check. he could barley hold his mace, let alone use healing magic. More than 100 men had fallen during the battle and 20 paladins, that was 3 days ago. the fortress got over run and there were only 200 survivors out of the 5,000 stationed men, women, and children. As Hax was retreating into the wilderness he saw a strange creature, but it did not have a menacing aura on it. he slowly walked up to it and cast a shield ward around him (nothing can penetrate it) and said in a weary voice ,"Hello there, what are you?" said Hax in a confused voice,.

Pez glanced down at Hax, with a smug aura around him. "I'm a Manticore, ever heard of them?"He said with a sarcastic tone. He never really liked humanoids.

,"No I haven't." said Hax. As hax stared at the manticore, a arrow struck Hax'es knee. Hax screamed and fell to the ground as he tried to heal self. more demons came through the trees. Hax had enough time to get the arrow out and ready his mace for a fight.

Pez growled seeing the demons, with his tail looping around his side. He let out a roar, sounding something like a mix between a cougar and a trumpet.
