I don't really expect this to go anywhere, but I figured I'd throw it out anyway...
We've got a lot of artists here, and a whole mess of commissions and freebies topics. What if our artists could actually set up little on-site storefronts though? Some random ideas that could go with that are things like:
- PayPal integration, so payment could be accepted directly and with clearer notation about why a payment was received.
- A setup prompter to remind people to include things like samples to display, and spaces for references to be included in requests.
- A system to help the artist keep track of commissions and what is and isn't done (and maybe a reminder system to pester for completion of work/payment).
- Something to help us keep better track of which artists are presently doing work (many topics never get marked "closed" and so get lumps of requests that are never fulfilled).
- Maybe a setup that lets non-members purchase too.
- It could be another way for RPR to pay for itself by taking a percentage of profits in exchange for hosting the shop.
- Possible tie-in with epic memberships for the commission of custom profiles - maybe even doing something like extending access to that design to just the purchaser, rather than the purchaser having to either post it themselves or share it with all epic members.
- Some way to have commissions automatically close after a set number is reached.

This sounds cool but also like an entirely different business model with its own audience and requirements. Granted the audience has some overlap. I'm going to decline to take this one up for now -- I think if I did this it'd be a new site!
