Johanna was sitting outside, reading a book in the warm sunlight. It was a beautiful day and pretty calm as usual. Well, for a princess that is. She was the first and only daughter of the great King Arthur. You'd think that she would have duties but her brother took them all on, since he was being trained to be king soon.

To an outsider, she'd seem very happy in the life she was living. But to anyone who really knew here, they could see that she wanted a bit of adventure. Which was to bad. She was a girl, meaning that she had to sit and look pretty. Something she didn't like to do, but did anyway for her father. After her mother died, he never was the same again. And Johanna couldn't see him hurt more then he already was, so she did what was expected from her. She didn't rebel, not in plane sight anyway. But in her diary, she wrote stories about herself. Sometimes about her being a hero and sometimes about meeting very interesting people and creatures. Yes, she was 21. Too old to write silly stories. But that didn't stop her. Nobody could.

So there she was, reading a book. On the outside, it looked like she was reading '20 steps to being a classy princess'. Look closer and you'd see the book was actually called 'The adventures of Knight Louis and his brave Dragon'.

Johanna lived in a very tense and turbulent time where it was quite possible that she could end up ruling the kingdom, or dying within a few years. War was upon her father's kingdom due to the rising tensions with the newly discovered Dragons. They were only discovered about a year ago and things had not gone well. Hearing that the fierce some beasts of legend were actually real 'brave' knights and trophy killers set off to slay them. Obviously this did not sit well with the Dragons and they retaliated, burning villages and slaughtering towns. And tensions were rising, the dragons were mustering far to the south under an great dragon general and his young brutal son.

Not all were against dragons just like how not all dragons hated humans. Their had been attempts at peace but they all had failed. The kingdom just needed one final push to be sent to war and a plot was underway to make Johanna that final push. Advisers close to the throne who wanted power plotted with war hungry generals. And so on that sunny day they set their plan into motion.

One of Johanna's most trusted servants approached her, bringing Johanna's favorite drink. "m'lady" the servant said, dropping into an appropriate curtsy before continuing her approach "I have brought you a refreshment." Little did anyone know or suspect, it was laced with a highly powerful, and highly effective sedative.

(What sort of character were you thinking of using? The general plot is set in a medieval/Renaissance time period. Dragons have just recently been discovered and there is a lot of animosity, bordering on war. Within these stressful times, the princess is kidnapped. Which is where my character will come in. Zero is a dragon that can take on a human form and comes across the kidnappers and the princess. He gets dragged into it somehow and reluctantly agrees to help.)

"Oh, how lovely!" She took the drink and took a sip. As she drank a bit she noticed the servant standing there, really awkwardly. "Euhm, can I help you with something?" The servants usually didn't stay in the presence of the princess. Not that she had something against it, it was just weird. "Did you wanna ask something?" Her eyebrows lifted in wonder as she flashed him her most warm smile.

Then she felt something, her head got a bit light. Quickly she shook her head, trying to get rid of the feeling. Her right hand supported the weight of her body and her left supported her head. "Wow, what-s.." As she was about to ask what was going on, everything went black. The only thing she saw was her servant beside her. Thank god that she passed out before hitting the grass. It may have been grass but it would still hurt, later, after she woke up again.

During that time of sleep, weird dreams came to her. Dreams about dragons and knights. And Johanna, not being able to move. Why couldn't she move? Why did it feel so hot in there? What was that smell? All those questions woke her up. Sudden and gasping for air. "NO-wait? What?" Confused as she was, she looked around and wondered if she was still dreaming. "Hold on? Could somebody pinch me or something?" But the tight robes around her body made it so that she didn't need a pinch.

So was in the back of a small caravan cart that was currently on the move. She had been unconscious for around four hours. Within those four hours she was snuck out of the castle and spirited away on the back of a horse. Then once outside the city she took a trip on the back of a dragon and from there she was bound and placed in the back of the caravan cart, now at least a weeks travel from her home. It was unbearably hot and she was quite lucky that she was in a shaded cart. Outside the sun shown down relentlessly.

After she was safely out of the castle the very dragon that carried her for miles attacked and made it seem like she was kidnapped by only a dragon. It was part of the deal the young dragon made with the greedy and war hungry advisers. If she was able to turn and look out the cart behind her she would realize that the landscape was becoming more flat, with less plants and the grass was dried out. They were approaching the desert.

Johanna knew what was happening, as in, she knew that she was being kidnapped. Struggling wasn't an option, also something she knew, so she didn't. Instead she just layed there. Listening and trying to stay calm. At that point, she needed to do some damage control. Yeah, the only knowledge she had was from books so it seemed a bit weird, the way she reacted. Fear was what they wanted, fear wasn't what they were gonna get. No, she was gonna be nice. So nice that they might feel a bit guilty. Yes, foolish girl. But how could you blame her? All her life, they protected her from anything not shiny or happy.

"Euhm? Hello? Is there anyone who would like to have a chat? Lets talk about your feelings, or maybe your hopes and dreams huh? What do you think?" Her voice never stopped being bubbly and warm. Tide up and laying there, really comfortable by the way, she tried to stay positive. In some way that was the only way to really look at the situation. What could be worse then being kidnapped, right? Well, at this point nothing. Oh but how wrong she was.

A group of med rode in front of the caravan while one sat on the cart, driving the oxen. Upon hearing her voice one of the men, presumably the leader, smirked and dropped back so he could be seen from the opening to the cover. "Have a nice nap princess?" he asked saying "princess" in a mocking tone. The man was very muscular and had a scar running from his left ear, along his jawline and down his neck. Overall he wasn't very nice to look at. "we all hoped you would sleep longer. Your yapping will get annoying real fast." The man said it casually but it was a in fact a warning. If she continued to talk their would be a punishment.

His tone wasn't received well so she let him know. "Yeah, I did have a good nap. Best nap in years!" Her voice silky sweet and still as warm and inviting as before. But her face was serious, her smile was more of a hate smile. "Aren't you a little miss sunshine? But fine, as you wish, your-oh-so-scary-knidnapping-majesty." The sarcasm dripped from her voice and she layed her head back down, closing her eyes to rest.

All while thinking of what was gonna happen. She might've been scared shitless but there was no way that she was gonna show it. While trying to calm down, she counted her breaths.

The man snorted, not appreciating her sarcasm. "Listen here little wench" he said, his tone getting angry. "You could be in a much worse position right now. I'm the only thing keeping you alive, the only thing keeping my men from having their way with you." He paused letting his words sink in. "So show me respect or you will regret waking up."

Meanwhile, in the desert about fifteen to twenty minutes away walked a young man, he appeared to be 19 at least. He wore a thin grey shirt and dirty pants. His skin was tan and his eyes were a startling acid green. "Stupid humans." he muttered before going to mimic someone "can't fly during the day unless you want to end up having to kill humans. humans this humans that." He huffed in frustration "stupid weak body. Bound to the earth like worms."

She laughed, her head being thrown back. "Wow! Funny too!" Her bubbly laugh changed into a serious face. "Listen here, buddy! You need me. Otherwise why would you've kidnapped me. If you wanted to kill me you would've already. I don't appreciate your rudeness at all." Before shutting up again, she sniffed loud, showing how unappreciated his tone of voice was.

While she shook her head in disbelieve, she mumbled to herself. "I can't believe this. Oh I just kidnapped You, tied you up in ropes that cut your skin and I have been rude to you. I demand that you give me 'Respect' even though I don't deserve it. Fantastic!" Her head kept shaking in anger. If there was something she didn't like, it was rude people.

The man glared, it took everything in him not to strike her. A cruel, cold smile spread across his face. "Don't worry honey, you will die soon enough. I'd say in a few days. We are taking you to the dragon muster. The general is then going to take you and make an example. You'll probably burn to death, much more painful than if he simply ate you." Everything he said was true, they were in fact taking her to the Dragon general to be killed. The caravan was now properly entering the desert. "Sir, their is someone in the distance, extremely far off" One of the men called. The leader huffed "stay on coarse its probably no one. Just one of the desert dwellers, and they are extremely peaceful"

"Yeay, I'm looking forward to it!" Her voice was sharp as she gave him her angriest look. The words were happy but her tone was anything but that. "If you think I'm scared to die, you are mistaken. I'm not just any princess you know." It was true, she was a foolish, not knowing when to shut up, that kind of princess. All learned out of books, her reactions were quit arrogant for that surten situation. But she didn't know better, really.

As she heard that, she got an idea. A way to attrack the attention of the person, who was afar, but probably could hear her if she sang really loud. So she did, she sang her little heart out. "This little princess is being kidnapped! Oh dear, oh dear. Someone help this little princess, for she is being kidnapped. So would the person outside of this vehicle, please help me." Now, why was she singing instead of yelling, you aks? She didn't know. But if she sang, people would wonder what was happening, maybe go look even? Well, that last, she hoped with all her heart.

The leader initially rolled his eyes and went to join his companions until she started singing. "stop that right now." he growled pulling his horse as close as he could to the caravan "or I will hit you." He was serious, he had had enough of the spoiled, sheltered women and just wanted to be rid of her.

"stupid stupid stupid." the man kicked the sand as he walked only to have a large breeze blow it all back in his face. "pfft shpfft" he spat sand out of his mouth and had the urge to roar angrily. He actually had all intentions of doing so until a strange sound caught his ears. "what is that terrible racket?" he grumbled, eyes narrowing. "And deserts are supposed to be peaceful, load of bull." The man altered his coarse so he would intercept the caravan.

"he is approaching sir!" one of the men called. The leader spat at Johana and cursed, heading to the front of the now stopped caravan. "If she doesn't stop her singing by the time he is passing us, go slit her throat or do whatever you want with her" he told the cart driver who nodded eagerly.

Hearing the guy tell the other one, to slit her throat, she got really scared. But it was all or nothing. If they were gonna kill her anyway, she'd rather die while trying to be saved, then not do anything and die anyway. At least she went down fighting.

So she took a big breath and sang like her life depended on it, which it did. "HELP ME! UGLY MEN ARE TRYIG TO KIDNAP ME, IF YOU DON'T SAVE ME, THEY'LL KILL ME!" She stopped singing and just yelled out the next scentences, as fast as she could ofcourse. "SERIOUSLY! IF YOU DON'T HELP ME, I'LL DIE! PLEASE SAVE ME, YOU'LL GET LOTS OF GOLD, IF THAT IS WHAT YOU DESIRE!"

Deep down, she prayed to any God who would hear her out, to save her. She would be the best person she could be, if only given the chance. That she promised! Anyone who saved her, she would owe for the rest of her life.

Johanna's shouts were heard but Zero really didn't focus on what she was saying. "Thank god that awful singing has ended." he said as he raised his hands in mock prayer. He was close to the caravan now, close enough to see that he carried two dual swords at his side and those were his only possessions besides the clothes on his back.

The leader huffed and nodded to the cart man "kill her" he said simply. The cart man smiled and nodded, disappearing into the back of the caravan. The cart man was extremely ugly with a pocketed face, smelly breath, missing teeth and a hunched back. "don't worry sweet, we shall have some fun before I end you." He smiled and grabbed a lock of her hair, smelling it.

"stranger, how are you fairing?" shouted the leader politely, until Zero proved hostile he wasn't going to order the men to attack.

Zero was now a yard or so away, he had stopped walking and a hand rested on one of his swords. "I was minding my own business until I heard this god awful racket coming from your cart. What sort of sorry excuse was that for singing, I mean really? If you are going to kidnap someone gag them too."

When Zero mentioned the men kidnapping Johanna the leader tensed up, hand going to his sword, his men followed suite. But before they could do anything Zero waved his hand "relax I don't really care what you do. Kidnap a princess, kill her, whatever. Just next time keep it down."

The men couldn't really believe what they were hearing. And perhaps everything would of went well for the kidnappers had the leader not opened his mouth. "sorry fellow but you know what we are doing, so we have to kill you. No hard feelings." The leader drew his sort as did the other men. One even notched an arrow in his bow.

Zero sighed "what a drag, this is obnoxious." he paused "you really don't want to do this." His bright green eyes were hard and emotionless.

Johanna couldn't believe what she heard either. "Are you kidding me?" A high pitched tone came out of her mouth. She nodded her head and rolled her eyes. "Well, this is just great. In my whole life, I haven't hurt a fly and this happens to me? Just great..AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION, MY SINGING WASN'T THAT AWFUL."

After that, she realised something. She was gonna die. And nothing, no one would save her. She closed her eyes again, waited for the last painful memory. She took a last breath and held in her tears. She wasn't gonna die crying. No, she would die brave. After she calmed down and accepted her death, there came a sudden weird rush over her. It was all fine, it didn't matter anymore. "In the name of all the brave knights, dragons and adventure stories. Please send me somewhere epic. If I get to return and live again as a different creature, make me a dragon? Please?" She prayed, with her eyes closed. "Now, I can die in peace.."

Zero snorted in amusement as he listened to Johanna shout. "yes it actually was" he responded as the men charged. Everything happened extremely fast. The archer let his arrow fly as Zero threw one of his swords. Without looking at the arrow he caught it in mid flight and snapped the wooden shaft.

A strange gurgling sound filled the chart and something warm and wet dripped on Johanna's hand. The cart man stood above her, eyes wide with shock, his hands clutching Zero's sword. It had found its mark, impaling the cart driver. He made a gasping sound like he was trying to talk then fell to the side dead, luckily not landing on Johanna.

Outside the cart the men were rushing Zero. He had darted forward and killed the archer, slitting his neck. He then turned to the other men. Easily disarming them and killing them. He dodged attacks and countered all with a fluid grace. He made it seem like it was a dance, and he was a master dancer. He moved with speed and skill, his movements fluid. An air of predatory grace hung about him. Zero laughed, fangs peaking out from behind his lips. He laughed as he cut down the last man, the leader. Then everything fell silent. The whole ordeal took less than a minute. After a moment of silence Zero spoke.

"seriously don't they teach princesses how to sing?" He asked ruefully. He seemed not to be effected by all the death. He simply ignored the dead bodies, not phased at all.

OOC: I already love their chemistry and they haven't even met yet *sighs happily*

"Well, excuse me for trying to be heard instead of being liked. I wasn't really thinking of sounding good, with death lurking around the corner and all.." Her fake smile was wide, her eyes sarcastic. "Anyway, could you please be so kind and help me out of these ropes? So I can thank you properly.." While she looked at him, him being upside down for she was still lying there, she pointed with her chin to the ropes, still cutting in her skin.

She sighed. "Thats a stupid question, right?" Realising that, she started to move around, making the robes hurt more, but that didn't stop her. "I mean, you didn't care about them killing me in the first place. You even encouraged them, thank you for that by the way." Still struggling and smiling her sarcastic smile, she panted from being out of breath, fighting the ropes.

Suddenly she stopped moving. "Nevermind, I give up." A big sigh made her chest go up and down and her lip moved, like she was a horse.
