Malice stood at a crosswalk, tail swishing happily as she'd recently eaten some Chinese food. A tram rolled passed on the street, the laser grid fence blocking access across the walkway. On either side stood anthros of all species, genders, colors (some looking ridiculously bright), and sizes. It was evening, and everyone was either out for dinner or entertainment, glad it was a Friday night. The tiger in particular was glad to get a meal (plus leftovers in her carry bag) and was about to head to a movie. Once the tram passed, the grid faded and allowed access to the walkway, people hurrying along it.
She had made a grave mistake. Truly, she had, as trying to leave the house she had been in for the last few days had gone all sorts of wrong. She had gotten lost, she had no idea where she was, she had been tossed about between folks' hips and battered by elbows. She'd been given a bloody nose once already. Her dress, pink once upon a time and now a sun-bleached off-white with lingering violet flowers decorating it, had little dribbles of blood across the front.
Thus, she had promptly found a seat on the ground. There were people like her all around, all different shades and looks, and people like the men who had raised her as well, but they didn't seem friendly. They didn't seem to notice her at all, unless it was to scoff or push her away. She was reduced to quiet little yowls and whimpers.
Against a storefront, she had already been asked to leave by the owner, but Esther had no intention of budging. Hesitantly, the owner's wife had slipped out of the store and given her a small dumpling, wordlessly, but it hadn't lasted long. It was the first thing she'd eaten in a few days.
Now, blue eyes wide, she sat against the storefront still, wondering what to do. She couldn't return to the house; she didn't know her way back. She couldn't stay here.
Tears began to well up in her eyes again, culminating in a decisive sob, just as another flux of people flooded through the space.

The tigress frowned, curious as to who the girl was. As she came up to her, she sat on the curb next to the cat. Being gentle, she wrapped her tail around the girl, the appendage fluffy, large, and warm. "What's wrong, kid?" Setting the bag down, she put a paw on her shoulder. The stripes on her back and down her tail were blue and luminescent, as was the inside of her mouth and eyes. Glancing about, she growled at the other furs that gave her disgusted looks, evening bothering to lick her chops at a snobby squirrel morph. He quickly scurried away.
