((Totally open. ))
A home was not strictly necessary for handing out treats. Lacking adequate housing, Jackson set up in the open space of a city plaza. There he perched on a crate not unlike a sleeping spider, with bits of straw poking out from dull, tattered clothes and a combination of a half mask and makeup that left his head looking like a grinning pumpkin. In his hand was a lantern with a flickering candle and smoky glass, and before him sat a deep bowl of various treats, from candy to granola bars to small, cheap toys and more.
Passing the lot of it out was all he had planned for the night - though some parents might find their sugar-fueled children pleasantly sleepier than expected after their visit, if it was enough for them to even notice. They might say that Halloween was a night of dark magic, terror, and death - but Jackson was usually quite happy to be perfectly harmless on the "horror"-filled holiday.

Without fanfare or special effect, there is suddenly another shadowy figure standing beside Jackson. It is dressed in robes of black, decorated with little bones from animals and humans alike. Its face is an absolute horror, a squid-like monstrosity with bulbous, milky eyes. If this is a mask, it is a very good one.
There is a voice. It seems to come from nowhere, it seems to make no sound at all, it seems to have no gender or inflections and yet it is certainly a voice, "heard" as if it were whispered directly into the brain. Prey is so much less interesting when it is taken unawares. And then something like a laugh, or maybe just the impression of a terrible, dark amusement. It must be that the robed figure is speaking, musn't it?

Oh, it was a nasty thing that stood there by him now. What specifically, he didn't know, but he was certain that it was unpleasant. And that voice... ugh, was this thing a telepath? Such annoying beings.
Still, he smiled as he held up his lantern to study the hideous creature. After a moment in which he had to fight of an urge to declare the thing "Fluffy," Jackson said politely, "Happy Halloween, Mr. Cthulu. Do try not to frighten off any little children, would you? I'd hate for all this candy to go to waste."
And if whatever and put words in his mind was listening, he also made the effort to think quite clearly: Is that an observation or a warning?

The thing answers instantly, ignoring what is said aloud and cutting instead to the loud-think. Definitely a telepath.
I rarely take an interest in children... Despite the sayings and the nostalgia, they haven't the creativity or the wisdom to attract my attention. You, however, certainly do.
An actual sound emits from the creature now, a rapid clattering of bone or cartilage being beaten together. Is it shivering? Is it laughing? Is it gnashing its teeth? The sound comes from the creature's head, but there's nothing that doesn't look squishy from the outside.

"Ah. Giving me a heads up that you want to do terrible things to me?" he said, opting to respond with words rather than just thought. It made it feel a little more like a normal conversation that way. "I'm afraid I don't get the appeal of hentai. But I do wonder, if you don't care for children, what would make a boy such as me any more interesting."
He leaned forward to dig around in his candy bowl and pulled out a sugar skull that was clearly meant for a different, more whimsical holiday. "Care for some candy?"

You're no child. The creature seems to be scoffing. Its tentacles wriggle in disgust as the bowl is proffered. And we do not eat such things. You misunderstand us. We give no warnings.
Jackson smirked as he dropped the treat back into the bowl. "Hm. Comforting."
Despite his words and playful demeanor, the youth was more on guard than usual. He hadn't a clue what this thing really was, but he had the suspicion it could do more than just talk into his mind. Why, he was wary of even lightly snacking on it any more than was his slight, unwitting constant, easier to miss than breathing.
"I like to think myself a sort of eternal child, though. I enjoy playing pretend."
He went quiet as children in costumes approached with a sprightly declaration of "Trick or treat!" They seemed a tad nervous when they noticed the realism of the second figure, but Jackson was quick to demand their attention.
"Oh my," he called out a tad cartoonishly, pulling his lantern toward the kids. "Such scary little gremlins! What is this... a witch... Batman... and a vampire, oh dear! Please, eat the candy and not poor old Jack!"
Giggling, the kids dug into the bowl.
