Spelt or spelled? Which do you use more/prefer? I generally use spelt though do every so often use spelled if I'm not thinking, both are correct, so no wrong spelling there.

'Spelled', because 'spelt' - while grammatically a correct variation of spelled - is more commonly used to refer to a particular type of European wheat than used as a verb. 'Spelled' is also the most commonly used variation internationally. I'm really not sure why people spell it as 'spelt' considering it's not very widespread.

I think it's cause it's shorter and it is still correct. It also sounds better to me personally than spelled, it just sounds wrong to me for some unknown reason, I start to use it and I keep having to make sure I'm using an actual word.
