1. I just can't seem to do ANYTHING right lately. First I joined a fanmade pokemon mmo and shortly after they started a halloween event. I asked the mods around how many badges I would need to be able to take part. They said events are generally constructed so that most players can join in and as such people with 1-2 badges can generally take part. So content with the knowledge that I had my 2nd badge, I started grinding for the items that would be used as currency during the event instead of trying to progress further in the game. Since the items can be obtained by defeating pokemon anywhere in the game. I just to hunt in the only area where eevee has an extremely small chance of appearing. Well after grinding for several hours for a few days. It turns that you will need to have 3 badges in order to assess the event map where you will be able to trade in the items. I have no chance of getting the 3rd badge in time as the gym leaders are extremely hard since while you are using moves like thundershock, they are using moves like thunderbolt and they have evolved pokemon that are not normally available at that level. So I wasted all that time for nothing.

2. About two months ago, my boyfriend broke his leg and totaled his car in an accident. So he's been on disability and has been saving his money since his insurance won't cover it. Well a game came out on steam that looked really interesting and fun to the both of us. So I bought it for both of us since we had been bored lately. Well it turns out that the game won't work properly on his computer for some reason so I basically wasted the money and my attempt to do something nice has backfired on me. >.<

1. Contact the admins, explain your situation and that you were given the impression you would be able to participate with the number of badges you had. Explain all the time you invested in order to participate. If they're not jerks, they will find a way to help you. No one likes frustrating new players and chasing them off with red tape.

2. Contact Steam support, tell them you purchased a game that isn't functioning on your computer despite meeting system requirements. There is nothing you can do to get it to function, you would like a refund in the form of Steam wallet credit so you can purchase a different game. Be polite, but insistant. Everyone on Steam gets a minimum of one refund. You purchased a product that did not function through no fault of your own, you are entitled to a refund.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time of it! But Trickster has some excellent advice. Don't give up yet! :)

Also, if you guys do want something a bit easier on the computer to play together with local co-op, I'd reccomend looking over:

Rayman Origins
Rayman Legends
Battle Block Theater
Trine 2
Risk of Rain
Castle Crashers
Guacamelee
Awesomenauts (you can sink a lot of hours into this one, it's like a saturday morning cartoon platformer moba)
You Don't Know Jack (this may end your relationship, fair warning)
Boot Hill Heroes
Katia Topic Starter

Thanks Trickster. I really appreciate it.
