I only heard of this today, so I am quite late. But don't fear! You can use existing knitting and crochet projects to participate. What's this all about?
Keeping in spirit of NaNoWriMo, knitters across the globe participate in a similar challenge called NaKnitMo - the goal is to knit 50,000 stitches in one or numerous projects within 30 days' time. Would you like to join us?
Feel free to sign up and participate in our group!

Oh no. Why do you torment me so? I've got so much to do this month you monster. How many stitches in a slipper?

Because I you?
And I don't know. How many stitches around and how many rows?
depends on how I'm meassuring it because each slipper pair is for different people. I don't think I can make 50k stitches, but I can certainly try... (I'll aim for 10k for now and go up from there!)
Wait, correction, if I make 28 bunnies for my NaNo region, I'll make over 50k stitches. new goal!
I'm already hooked on (trying) to do Nanowrimo in 10 days, but this looks tempting to attempt for next year as a good way to get back into knitting again

I didn't find out about this until the 1st of November this year myself, so I had no time to prepare anyone for this either. Hopefully next year!!
Oh, you dear sweet carpal tunnel syndrome aspirers.

I have got my mother interested however Turns out that she does about 4 - 5k in stitches when she makes one of her dolls anyway, so I will try and persuade her into it when the time comes around next year.

As for knitting, I've fallen severely behind. Like, even my lowered goal is not going anywhere. I'm going to do what I can an aim for a small bit more next year and keep increasing until I get it
I'm making steady progress. I had a bad day yesterday (I was exhausted and slept literally all day and then most of the night) but I've come up to about 58cms of the 71cms I need to knit for the back piece.
I expect to finish this piece today, and then I can start on the front. Basically the same thing with some extra shaping at the top.
