Arlan jumped at the sound of the voice, and spun around. She blinked the blurriness from her eyes, but she still didn't see anyone behind her. It wasn't until the girl's phone started ringing that she looked up at the roof of the building. Arlan narrowed her eyes. "Weren't you the girl just inside drawing?" How the heck did she get out onto the roof so fast? Arlan hadn't even noticed her come out.
"Yup.." she returned, crossing her legs. Her phone buzzed several times with texts from dinky, but she ignored them. Her eyes glistened as she looked at the fluffy clouds overhead.
Arlan stared up at the girl, quite sure what to make of her. "You make it a habit to just randomly appear on rooftops and eavesdrop?" She ran through her conversation with her mother in her head. She hadn't thought that she'd said anything that might hint her mother's attitude on the other side of the phone, so what had the girl meant by "pretty harsh?"
She looked down at the girl below her, her eyes like fire. "I sit on roofs, problem?" she asked semi-harshly. "And I don't eavesdrop, little miss perfect. It's kinda hard not to hear your conversation with whoever that was yelling down the phone. Though, I don't think China quite heard the last part, maybe you should call her again so they can hear the rest." She was actually being a lot meaner than she usually was, but since the girl had just assumed she was eavesdropping without asking, she thought she had a pretty good reason to be mad.
Arlan narrowed her eyes. "Yeah. Right. And you just happened to come out here at the same time that I got a call. It's not like she was yelling or anything." Her mother couldn't be bothered with enough emotion to raise her voice. She certainly wasn't quiet either. Arlan shook her head. This was ridiculous, and while she was standing out here talking to this girl her stromboli was getting cold. "Whatever." She said before slipping back inside. It was a lot warmer inside, but she couldn't enjoy it. She sat back down in her seat on the edge of the booth. "Well, this first day at college is going great." She said sarcastically.
She smirked, sitting with her legs dangling over the edge. She got a few weird looks from the freshmen, but all in all they left her alone. She still hadn't ordered food but she couldn't be bothered to eat, she'd cook something at home
