As the covenant ships began to drop troops around the base of the tower they began to set up turrets and sniper towers getting a perimeter set up. They dropped four wraiths for heavy support and banshees patrolled. The zealot stood at the head of the towers door. "We shall enter and search for anything to help the great journey." With this the grunts, jackals and other elites roared in delight and went in to search. As the Normandy crew tried to get everything under control a group of jackals saw them from the cave systems nearby. Looking at each other they nodded as one went back but the other four including a gold commander one pressed forward. They were all armed with plasma pistols bar the needler of the commander.

Alongside the Jackals noticing the Normandy, severl guardshadnoticed the Jackals,onewith a widow managed to take out the Jackal that was running off towarn the rest of the covenant. "Go alert the others."One of the guardssaid, with another running off.

"They seem to be celebrating something."Riisart said, observing the covenant from cover with his M-13 Raptor(A type of sniper rifle). "Perhaps it is someone's day of birth? Or they may be some sortof courtship ritual going on?"Riisart questioned. "Or they just found thebest place to get burritoson the planet."Sokadrak offered up,getting an odd look from the others. "What? It's possible humans didn't invent the burrito."He said in response.

The sound of the widow sniper round that killed the jackal was heard by several other jackals further down. Their great hearing allowed them to hear it and told their commanders. The jackals above saw the sniper and began fireing at him. Down bellow four elites, twelve jackals, twenty grunts and a wraith began to head up the hill. Six jackal snipers armed with carbines cam around the corner and sat on the ridge within range of the crew.

The covenant in the tower began to go through the first level of the strange structure. The covenant had a blockage strong enough to endure any front end assault by simple soldiers. However around the edge in the caves would allow you to sneak behind their lines. Meanwhile back at the Normandy the jackals were fireing several plasma pistol bolts and needler rounds at the snipers position.

"Garrus, We've got some more of those aliens coming. We think the found our position."The tropper said approaching Garrus, who'd currently assumed the role of leader amongst the normandy crew. "That's not good. Are the normandy'sdefenses still active?"Garrus asked."Yes they are. I assume you would like to use them?"Edi replied, recieving a nod from Garrus. "If we manage to capture any alive let me and Grunt know and we'll try and figure out why they're attacking us."Garrus ordered. With that Edi headed into the ship with Joker, powering up the weapons systems.

Paana lead her squad down into one of the caves. "ZK, you're a geth infiltrator right?"She asked. "Correct. We assume you wish for us to scout ahead?"ZK replied. "Yeah, try to avoid being spotted."Paana added as ZK headed off, activating his cloak.

The cloaked Geth seemed to sneak past most of the units on the outside of the cave. However some Jackal snipers on a ridge looked over in his direction. The helmet the dinosaur like creature wore seemed to have had a motion tracker. This plus the infra-red vision allowed them to snipe with extreme efficiency. The jackal took aim with his beam rifle but seemed to have loose track of him in doing so. He looked around furiously for any sign of him but failed to get any.

Back at the Normandy the covenant attack group came through the caves guns blazing. The Jackals were up front being shields while the grunts swarmed through with needlers and plasma pistols. The elites fired plasma rifles and carbines. As the battle started a mere twenty seconds later the wraith came in. Firing it's powerful mortar it hit the left wing of the Normandy. This only hit the tip but still melted it slightly. The wraith was a model with a plasma turret on the front. This had an elite in it firing at close range targets.

"An alien tank. Wonder how tough these guys' ground vehicles are."Joker said. "Fire when ready."He said. Edi nodded, and after a few moments the Normandy's main gun fired at teh wraith, destroying it. Outside the ship Javik and Liara were using their biotics, making short work of the Jackals' shields.


After soem mroe recon ZK returned. "Well?"Paana asked. The area is guarded, primarily by the small bipeds, and the avian species."ZK said. "Alright, so what do we do?"Naal asked. "Well.... I'vve got two ideas. We could send Riisart in there in a false 'surrender' and see if we can learn anything about these aliens, or we could send in Sokadrak. I'm certain he could handle them."Paana said. "I vote for the second plan."Sokadrak said.

The attack on the Normandy was not going well for the covenant. Most of the covenant had been killed. Once the battle was over all that was alive was a jackal with a broken leg. It hissed and tried to crawl away as a human approaches him. He is unable to reach his gun or stand and he looks at the man hissing and snarling.

Meanwhile at the tower while the four of them were planning the jackal that spotted the Geth went to his commander. Hearing the report the zealot called for some 'special forces'. He tapped and used a communication devise on his wrist and then from the cruiser two hunters came down. With a deep grunt they moved to the caves to investigate. Despite their size the hunters moved with little noise and would prove a challenge for their enemies with their cruiser plating armor.

"Garrus! We got one!"The mancalled out. "Alright good. Grunt and I will get it in soem sort of prion thing."Garrus said. Grunt went over, hoisting the Jackalupby the neck and dragged it inside the normandy, with Garrus following.

After a short few minutes the group decided to send Sokadrak in to handle the grunts and Jackals. Considering some of the things he'dfought in his past this should be a rather simple job. "OH! And remember, do not squash them! We can leanr some of their weaknesses from their corpses!"Riisart called as Sokadrak left. "So, we just wait here until we hear screaming?"Naal asked. "No, we wait here until Sokadrak comes back. Then we move on. Besides, Sokadrak'll have a much better time taking those guards out on his own."Paana replied. "Well, I hope he hurries up.What if a Patrol comes down here?"Alice said. "It'll probably be made of those ugly birds and the weird volus things. We can handle them, especially if they're a patrol, which is normally small for quick movements."Naal replied, sitting on a rock and leaning back on the cave wall.

The Jackal was dragged and put into the ship for interrogation. He coughed a bit and snarled at his captures. He looked at Garrus and Grunt sniffing the air and getting their scent. He seemed aware of his surroundings and looked to be studying.

In the caves the hunters crept around to get in view of the group. They looked at each other and the hive creatures nodded and moved around the side shafts of the cavern. The caves had a strange almost artificial feel to them. The hunters got to a ledge each side of them and slightly above. Putting their shields down they powered up their energy cannons. A light humming and growling green light. Before anyone would have time to react they fired the two beams. The beams lasted eight seconds and shot very fast towards them. Narrowly dodging the two blasts. They hunters swang their arms to sway the beam along the ground. Once it was down they charged again.

"ACK!"Naal yelped as he was suddenly tackled to the ground by ZK in order to save the quarian from the hunter's blasts. "What the hell are those?!"Alice yelped, avoiding the blasts. "Perhaps some sort of synthetic?"Riisart asked, having ducked behind a large rock that was blown up by the Hunters. PAana got behind the rock Riisart was hiding behind and shot at the Hunter, wit hher bullets deflecting off the hunter's armor.

The hunters attacked the group with never ending brutality and force. Their cannons kept firing and shattering any rocks they were hiding behind. The hunters grunt and continue to barrage the group pushing them back into a area of the caves that was a dead end. As they moved around the corner to try and escape the hunters jump down and pursue.

"Let's hope this works."Paana said, holding her arm out. The venom claws built into her gauntlet ejected, and launched themselves out at the hunters. One of them missed, the second hit the shield, and the final one managed to lodge itself into the hunter's neck, barely missing the neck guard. Once the claw hit it then injected its venom into the worms the made up the hunter.

The hunter that was hit slammed it's shield into the ground and growled. Half of it's body seemed paralyzed from the poison but the half with the cannon remained alive. However movement was virtually stopped and the shield was placed to help it keep it's balance. The other hunter seemed to be enraged by the attack on it's partner. Raising it's shield it charged them while the wounded one shot at them with it's cannon. The enraged hunter slammed into the Krogan knocking him back. Despite the Krogans immense strength the hunters were stronger.

Sokadrak slammed into the wall with a thud. "Alright, ya made me mad."Sokadrak said angrily. He reached for his hammer, enhancing it with a series of electrical charges, and pulled it off his back. Paana blinked whe nshe saw the hunter suddenly go limp. She glanced at where her claw ahd hit, noticing it was embedded in the orange bits of the Hunter. "HIT THE ORANGE SPOTS!"She shouted, taking advantage of the hunter's shield being down and firing at the hunter's neck, hoping that she would be able to hit it. "Orange bits?"Sokadrak said, before noticing the uncovered belly of the hunter. "Oh okay." He grinned. It would take some swift movements to avoid the hunter's shield, but Sokadrak could get a clear slam into the stomach with his hammer if he got close enough.

The wounded hunter fired it's beam at it's attackers but without being able to turn it was immobile and vulnerable. The wounded one soon fell to the ground with a thud. It was dead and the second one fighting Sokadrak managed to keep going. Using it's shield to block the hammer strike it retaliated by swinging it's cannon at the Krogan and after getting him in the head slammed him into the wall using his shield. This is the same force that would dent a tank so at least his armor would be drastically damaged. Pinning him to the wall the hunter raised it's cannon to fire at him point blank.

Sokadrak roared as he slammed into the wall, with the well known Krogan rage kicking in. Thankfully he could reach his shot gun, a powerful one of Asari build He pulled it free and fired into the hunter's stomach until the gun was empty, having shot a total of four times.

The hunter went limp and fell back seeming to have been blasted in half. The armor around it's waist was all there was keeping him in one piece. Orange blood stained the cave as the large dead tank like units layed in their bleeding armor. This commotion was heard through the end of the caves and everything from snipers to tanks where armed at the caves.

Meanwhile at the Normandy the Jackal was hissing and nipping at anyone who cam near. It was acting like a captured animal.

"Well, that probably just screwed us over."Paana said. "So now what?"Naal asked, whiping some of the hunter's blood off his suit. "I guess we just keep going."Paana said. "Gladly."Sokadrak said, heading back in the direction they had been going originally.

"And here I thought all the other life forms on this vessel were primatives. I'm surprised you know how to work a gun."JAvik said looking at the Jackal.

The Jackal hissed and tried to bite Javik. It's broken leg flopped loosely as the bone was split. It looked over at Liara growling.

The covenant in the tower found what they feared. Like most covenant super structures this shield world had a bunch of flood containment systems. Massive tanks full of microscopic spores floated in a faded green gas. "The parasite must not be released. Use caution around the tanks." The zealot waited a few levels down into the facility looking over some flood spores.

"Savage"Javik said before kicking the Jackal's broken leg. "Whay are you and your allies attacking us?"Javik asked.


After a short while Paana's squad had made its way into the tower, killing off any grunts and Jackals it encountered, mostly thanks to Sokadrak's rage.
