In a couple months, I'll have completed my first year on this site. Often that sort of things comes with feelings of "my, how time flies!" And sure, this year did go by pretty fast - but I feel like I've been here so much longer. It's not that that it feels old and tired though (as my waning lately activity may imply), but simply how readily and completely I was accepted into the community!
I have Mist to thank for suggesting I join RPR. I had previously stopped RPing for awhile to finish getting through college (and to get away from some not-so-great communities), and after I graduated, he recommended this place (possibly so I'd stop pestering him for replies all the time to the little email RP we had going ). I expected it to go similarly to the last site I'd tried joining: I join, I introduce myself, I nervously get involved in a few things, and everything fizzles out and is buried.
Oh, how wrong I was!
You welcomed me with open arms. When I dared to try jumping into things, you accepted and encouraged it. When I spoke, you responded. As I hung around, unexpected kudos arrived from people I didn't realize had ever really noticed me, let alone enough to go out of their way to say how much they appreciated it. As I chatted with folks, I found friends who seemed to actually favor my personal presence to my absence. As I continued to reach out, I discovered people who actually had me in mind as someone they wanted to RP with, and usually people I looked up to at that!
I've often referred to RPR as one of the two most friendly websites I've ever come across. The part I may not say enough is that: RPR is the one site that has made me, personally, feel most welcome.
Thank you Kim, for making this place. Thank you, Kim + moderators for working to maintain such a wonderful community. And thank you, everyone, for making me feel so appreciated and keeping everything so awesome.
I admit I've been suffering a little bit of burnout, but I have no intention of leaving this place anytime soon. I'll just prolly keep being slow for a bit.

Seriously, you've only been here a year? In my mind's eye, you've been here much longer. It's been an absolute pleasure having you here and so involved in everything!
I'm going to have to print this post.

Aw, hehe. And yeah, I joined at the end of this last January!
I was under the impression that you were here for longer. Anyways, congrats.
