Under a tree sat a a boy in his late teens. His body seemed to differ from your average human. His eyes were somewhat cat-like. He had a long slender tail, and under his odd hat, which seemed to be a mix between a Castro hat and a tabagon, his ears were long and pointed. His attention seemed to be focused on the sketchbook in his lap, sketching something down. Infront of him paced a younger girl, who had similar biology to the boy. Unlike the boy, her colors were muted.
"J-Jake, you can't do this!"The girl said urgently. "Yeah I can. Do'n it right now aren't I?"Jake replied. "No, I mean your mind can't handle it! You know you saw all kinds fo weird things and had all kinds of crazy nightmares when you made me, who knows what'll happen when you finish this guy!"The girl ranted, still pacing. "I'll be fine."Jake grumbled in reply. "Besides, this kid'll make surviving easier for both of us."He added. The girl groaned, kicking some flint in frustration. "Okay FINE! Drive yourself mad! See if I care!"She ranted walking off. "Uh, I'd stay here until I can get you some kind of hat or coat made. It's gonna rain soon."Jake said, not looking up. The girl grumbled, stomping back under the tree Jake was under and plopping down by him, with her arms folded across her chest.
"Done!"Jake announced. He gabbed onto the paper he was drawing on. Some light shown off the paper as a three fingered reptilian hand was pulled out of it. After a short few moments the rest of the odd creature was pulled out of the paper. It had scales on its body, horns, pointed ears, and a thin fur covered tail. It wasn't wearing any clothes and seemed to be several years younger than either, Jake or the girl.

The creature looked around in curiosity. Everything around it was... new. Unusual. The air... the sounds... the sights... remaining silent, the creature took a few steps and continued its investigation of the surroundings. When its eyes caught sight of the two others nearby, the creature froze. Who were these people? what were they? What were they covered in...?
Wait a minute...
The creature's eyes fixed on Jake. There was something about him... something... something familiar. Something... fatherly. He couldn't quite work it out. Was it... him? Was it who who made the creature... alive?

"Ugh..." Jake groaned, holding his hand up to his head. He'd definitely need to sleep this night, but thankfully he had a camp set up near by that would supply a decent place to hide away from monsters, and the Girl could easily keep a fire going that would stave off the Grue. "Told you it was a bad diea."The girl grumbled. "Shut up..."Jake replied, still rubbing his temples. Yeah, he'd definitely need to sleep tonight.
Jake glanced up at the crittr he'd just created. "Uh... hey there. Can you talk?"Jake asked.

The creature was now busy checking out his own hands. His own arms. It was all new. All strange. He knew what to do with it, but... he had never felt it before. He slowly spun around in a complete circle with his arms outstretched, then turned to Jake, without looking him in the eye.
Talk... speak. To use one's voice... he knew that word, he knew how to do it, but... it was hard. He was so nervous, so anxious about doing it... all he could offer was a timid nod of affirmation. It was interesting though... if Jake had created him, wouldn't he know of he could speak?

Jake nodded. "Alright, what do you wanna be called?"He asked. "How about weird monkey lizard kid?"the girl offered. Jake rolled his eyes. "I'm Jake and this is Jenny by the way."Jake said, waiting for the reature to offer a name.
The creature looked thoughtful. A name. A word to describe itself. Only... he didn't yet know what he was. And... before he could answer, he needed to test his voice.
Shaking nervously, the creature began to produce a shy, baby-like "Aaaaaaaahhhh...." sound. He continued his vocalisations by repeating "Ih... ih.... ih...." Then followed with "k k k k...." He then tried stringing the sounds together. "Ick. Ick. Iiiiiiiick. Ruh ruh ruh.... ik. Ruh-ik. Riik."
Still feeling shy, but now confident that he had control over his voice, he repeated "Riik. Riik." A couple of times. And then, he sat down thoughtfully.
A name... how can I describe myself in a single word...?

"Well its nice to meet you Riik."Jake said, before glaring off at nothing."okay. Yeah. See'n those weird tick things, so I need some sleep."Jake said, taking off his back pack and pulling out a bed roll. He pulled a spear out of its holster on the bag's side and handed it to Jenny. "Keep watch okay?"Jake said, getting a nod from Jenny. After Jake unrolled the bed roll he lied down and fell asleep.
Wait... that's not-...
The creature sighed and shook his head. He was just practising speaking. That wasn't the name he had decided! Still... it was... it was his first real word. Even if it was a made-up word. Perhaps it was therefore quite fitting.
Riik. Very well. He was Riik.

Jenny glanced down at Jake, worried. She sighed, leaning against the tree they were under. When ever he mentioned those weird tick things she always got worried. Even then she was always several times more worried about him when he went to sleep. The sudden clap of thunder shook her out of her thoughts. She quickly shot out grabbing Riik and pulling him under the tree as rain started to fall. "Don't get wet!"She said.
Riik squeaked in surprise as he was grabbed, staring out in the distance in confusion. Wet... water... why did that scare him...? There was just something... dangerous about it.
Riik glanced up at Jenny thoughtfully, questions swimming through his mind. "H-how... how will I keep clean...?" He asked.

Jenny shrugged. "I dunno. Doesn't seem to be a problem for me."She said, having not shwoered or bathed since her creation but has remained relatively clean. "I wouldn't worry much about it."Jenny said, looking out at the horizon, hoping the rain would stop soon.
Riik had so many more questions, but his timid nature held them in check. Still... he wasn't able to hold them all back. "Wh-what about... saliva? Blood? A-and w-why are you covered in that... stuff... b-but I'm not...?"
Jenny shrugged. "I think our spit and blood is different from everybody elses'."She said "Now for the clothes, I dunno. That's just the way Jake drew you."She said.
Riik looked over to Jake. He supposed that he would have to ask him when he woke up. Until then... until then, he just had to survive the rain.
Oop: Wanna wait for Caramel to psot before continuing?
Umbrellas aren't nice...well Caramel's umbrella wasn't nice anyway. It was matted with dirt and filth from all the times she had dropped it on the ground. She hated the silly thing...
But it was the only thing to keep herself dry from the rain, and she couldn't just leave it around...
Like she normally did.
Caramel could count the amount of times she had left it behind because she had to carry her bow.
She had been looking for some sort of material that might be suitable to make a strap that she could hang her precious weapon across her back, but there had been no luck.
She spotted a small campfire in the distance and moved towards it. Not only form he light, but in hope there might be people there.
Because travelling through the wilderness... Well it can get pretty lonely.

Jenny noticed Caramel moving in the trees around them. She stood up, nervously holding onto her spear, unaware that Caramel was girl and not one of the multitude of monsters that roam the area.
" hello? " caramel called out " is anyone there? "
She saw a girl holding a spear, a feriocious, yet determined look in her eyes.
She clutched her bow tightly, before making a decision to not attack a potential friend.
She instead leaned her bow against the tree next to her and waved her now free hand
" hey, it's okay I'm a friend... "

Jenny blinked, not sure what to do. Up until now she hadn't met anybody other than Jake and Riik. Yeah there were the few pigs Jake had managed to befriend, but they were clearly native to this world, but another seemingly regular human? She glanced back down at Jake. She wanted to wake him up to see what she should do, but she knew Jake would need his rest, especially at the mention of those 'ticks'.
