"Ghosts huh, well I know there are Ghost-Types, but actual ghosts?" Nick was a bit skeptical, but who knows, the world of Pokemon was a strange and mysterious place, who knows what could be lurking around just out of sight.

"So, if you like ghost so much, then why only one Ghost-Type in your party?"

"Because Ghost-type pokemon aren't actual ghosts. They're just a bit closer to the spectral realms ghosts live in. That and most people have alot of weird and creepy urban legends about ghost pokemon so too many of them scare actual ghosts away."Jake explained. "I usually keep Griax in his pokeball when I go out ghost hunting."Jake explained.

Roserade blocked the brick brakes with her flower like hands. Catching Heracross just below him wrists she avoided all damage from them. The megahorn was a different story. Hitting her she was thrown back but managed to recover from the attack. But before she landed she was hit by a barrage of pin missiles. Getting hit the first wave she landed and as the second and third barrages came she managed to avoid the majority of them. "A quick and brutal attack. But an unthought out and flawed one." Fal said smirking as Roserade stood up having a bit under half her total energy left. "Use dazzling gleam." Both Fal and Roserade got smirks on their faces as the flower pokemon raised her arms and aimed them at the fighting bug. "Rose!" It cried firing a bright pink and white beams from both her hands. With his fighting type portion and Roserades high special attacking capabilities it would hurt the bug type quiet a bit. "Now hit it with leach seed and dodge as t wears itself down." Fal says with a smirk. The round parts of it's hands opened and a seed fired out of each. These six seeds hit Heracross and a vine came out of each. Sticking close to him he was hit with a draining attack. The energy then being sent to Roserade. She would simply dodge and whats left of Heracross's health was drained away to restore her.

"That was anticipated. Heracross counter-shield technique." Heracross gives a exhausted nod to Seren and lies on its back. "Now spin!" Heracross then spins in place by launching pin missiles over the arena to increase his momentum. The spining of heracross then starts to tear up the vines and launches the seeds attached to him. He then continues to spin. "I planned.for your roserade to know some sort of healing move so I assumed it might be leech life due to its Ability to latch onto pokemon. The counter shield could then work if my assumption was correct. And it was." Seren hides a grin behind his face and heracross as well. "Luckily my heracross has dealt with fairy type moves before. So I've planned ahead. Now heracross increase your rotation speed!" Heracross then opens its wings and flaps them as fast as possible and starts to float in the air spinning faster and faster. "Now charge!" With that command heracross tackles roserade with it's pin missiles counter shield combo and spins toward it at full speed.

"Wow, you sure know a lot about that stuff." Nick said, impressed by the boy's knowledge. They kept on walking down Route 110 until they reached Cycling Road. "Hey, a Cycling Road, perfect, this'll cut down on travel time, we can rent bikes over there." He stated as he pointed over to a rental stand next to the front entrance. The two boys walked over to the stand an rented two standard bikes, which gained them entry into the Cycling Road.

"Alright, Mauville City, here we come, let's go!" Nick exclaimed as he began peddling down the road along side countless other cyclists.

"Hold up. Think i'd rather just ride on T3chn0."Jake said, quickly heading off. After a few minutes he returned and climbed onto his Noivern's back before it took off. "So are you gonna try and beat the gym leader first, or would you wanna check out that haunted place first?"Jake asked.

Seeing how Seren got out of the leech seed Fal smirked. "Clever. But not good enough." With this the Heracross began to rapidly approach Roserade. "Protect." Roserade crossed her arms and a green barrier went around her. Slamming into her Heracross was knocked back. "Brute force will never win. Especially against me." Fal grinned having encountered these tactics before. They would win against rookies and less experienced trainers. But someone who has defeated a champion it would be no good. "Use dazzling gleam and end it." Roserade fired another glowing pink beam towards the bug type. With the spinning Heracross would be dizzy and have a hard time dodging.

Seren hides a devious look behind his face. "Predictable. Brute force only prevails with strategy as well. And both must mastered to prevail. Now Heracross barrel role around and then use focus punch!" With a signal form Seren heracross stops spinning and barrel roles around dazzeling gleam and quickly charges up focus punch. "Finish it heracross! I know you can do it!" And with that a explosion envelops the battlefield

"Hmm, well, we kind of have to go through Mauville City to even get to the Haunted Mansion, so we might as well get it out of the way." Nick answered. "I'll try to be quick about it, then we can go see that mansion, I'm actually interested to see if we can find an actual ghost."

They traveled down Cycling Road for a while, enjoying the scenery, especially the river below them. Water type Pokemon were swimming merrily in the water, even some trainers had gotten in to join them. Soon enough, they made it to their destination.

"There it is, Mauville City, wow, it really is indoors just like the guide book said!" Nick said, excited to get in and win his first gym badge in the Hoenn Region.

"Well, I'll have to make sure that Zed gets enough sleep."Jake said. HE looked around the building that made up mauvile. "How long do you think it took them to make this?"Jake asked.

The explosion covered the battle field. Roserade being a poison type resisted the fighting type focus punch but she was still very hurt from previous attacks. She struggled but managed to stand. "Well then. That was a bit hit." Fal looked at Roserade seeing her panting and trying to stand. "Return. I know just what to do for this guy." With a flash the seriously injured Roserade went back. She would be in no state to battle despite not fainting. "Now for some fun." Fal got an evil smirk on his face. "Come on out Banette!" With a flash the creepy ghost type appeared. "Ba. Banette." It said after appearing. Upon a closer look you could see he was wearing something. On his chest was a armor like plating. It went around the base of his neck and around his upper body. On it a small marble like stone with a black and yellow flame like shape. "You wanted to know what my pendant was for? Time to find out." Fal said a big grin on his face. "Banette show them your true might. Mega evolve!" With these words Banette's stone began to glow and the pendant around Fal's neck under his cloak began to glow. Being seen from benith his cloak Banette was enveloped by a bright light. A pink crystal like shell came around him and then it glowed as it shattered. The shards disintegrating and Banette standing their looking different. A pair of pinkish purple claws came out of what looked like zips on his arms and feet seemed to form from a similar matter in his lower half. His head grew out and a zip like pattern run around it. Both of them grinned at Heracross a creepy almost disturbing grin on the face of Banette and a creepy confident one on Fal. "Start us off. Use shadow claw." With lightning like speed Banette leapt up. Flicking it's right arm back the hand now had three sharp claws made of shadow. Slamming these into Heracross sent the mighty bug type flying. Slamming into the railing it was bent back and Heracross layed there fainted. "And we are just getting started." Fal said smirking again.

Seren very gives fal slow clap. "Well played sir. Well played. But the battle has just begun! I Choose you alakazam!" Seren throws a great ball into the air and a alakazam stands tall. "Yes I do realize your banete has a type advantage. But that's not what solves a battle! Alakazam use calm mind." And with that alakazam focuses its energy and increases its special attack and defence by one level. "They always say the best offense is a good defense." Now let's finish this!"

"Who knows, apparently it was just finished recently, the Gym Leader Wattson oversaw the reconstruction." Nick explained, all information he got from that guide book. The two trainers wondered around the city, looking at all people in all of the shops, it was really more like a giant mall than a city, it was quite the sight to see. Nick kept a sharp eye out for the Mauville City Gym, it should've had the typical symbol of the International Pokemon League. Eventually, after like half an hour of searching and trying to decipher maps, they finally made it to their destination.

"Alright this is it, my first gym battle in the Hoenn League," Nick took a deep breath to calm his nerves and stepped forward, the automatic door opening for him. The two stepped into a sort of lobby area, there was a front desk at the back of the room with a person in a referee uniform sitting at it.

"Hello, can I help you?" the ref politely asked.

"Uh, yeah, I'm here to challenge the gym leader." Nick replied.

"Oh, of course, right this way please." The ref stood up from his seat and guided the boys to the battle arena. It had the typical regulation battle field, with tesla coils at each corner for decoration. At one end of the battle field stood the gym leader, Wattson. "Mr. Wattson, you have a challenger." the ref informed the jolly looking old man.

"Really, well that's great, my first gym battle in the newly remodeled Mauville City, WHAHAHAHAHAH!!!" Wattson let out a thunderous laugh. "For a second there I thought that people were having so much fun in the new city that they had completely forgotten there was a gym here, well that puts my worries to rest, so which one of yo boys is the challenger?"

Jake pointed at Nick with his thumb. "Not even registered for that weird pokemon league thing."Jake said.

"Now now. For what I have seen you can't tell me strategy is needed." Fal smirked lightly taunting his opponent. "Let's get this going with willow wisp." Mega Banette had the ability of Prankster. This allowed him to use willow wisp with extreme speed and accuracy hitting the strong psychic type. Alakazam was hit by a painful burn that would occur every few seconds. "Do not under estimate Banette." Fal had a plan. He would use sucker punch to preempt Alakazams attack. He would also be ready with some other emergency moves.

"Ha! I knew you'd use a status move!" As Alakazam is infected with a burn so is mega banette. He to feels the burn status condition. Seren then gives his opponent a smirk of confidence. "Alakazams ability is synchronize which transfers any and all status conditions to your pokemon as well as mine. Now alakazam shadow ball!" While shaken a bit alakazam shoots a volley of shadow balls towards banette. With the previously used calm mind this move would surely do some damage along with alakazams high speed and special attack. "Dodge this!"

"Alrighty then, what's your name kid?" Wattson asked Nick.

"Uh, my name is Nick, I'm from the Johto region." Nick replied.

"WHAHAHAHAHAH, ok Nick, I'll be happy to accept your challenge." Wattson said in his typical jolly voice. "Just stand over there on the other end of the field and we can get started."

"Right!" Nick quickly took his place on the challenger's side of the field, feeling that same mix of excitement and nervousness that always preceded a gym battle. Ref stood on a small platform on the right side of the field.

"The Mauville City Gym Battle between Nick and Wattson is about to begin. Each trainer will use 3 Pokemon each, only the challenger is allowed to substitute Pokemon. The battle will end when all 3 of one side's Pokemon are unable to battle." the ref listed off the rules for the regulation Gym Battle, Nick already had a good idea of which three he wanted to use, but the question was which to lead with. "Battle begin!"

"Magnemite, go!" Wattson exclaimed as he threw his first Pokeball, calling forth the Pokemon known as Magnemite.

"Magnemite huh, alright, Gliscor let's go!" Nick called out his Shiny Gliscor, being a ground type electric type moves won't effect it, that would at least give him an advantage.

"I swear, some of these rules are stupid."Jake muttered, as he found his way up to the seats. He didn't really care for battling. He normally tried to avoid it. His pokemon were his family. And what family member would force another to fight someone else?

"Banette use shadow claw and counter those shadow ball's." Banette's hands grew the shadowy claws again and as quick as Alakazam could fire them Banette jabbed them destroying them without a scratch. One of them managed to hit him but he shook it off rather quickly. "You can't appreciate mega evolution just by looking at it. Normally shadow ball would be useful against Banette but with our bond the mega evolution makes him incredibly more powerful." Fal smirked as Banette counted the assault with ease. The final shadow ball flew at Banette. "Do it." Fal said smirking even more. Banette slammed into the shadow ball. The explosion covered the area briefly. Leaping forward through the smoke Banette got off a powerful shadow claw onto Alakazams head slamming him into the ground. Banette's body glowed for a second and he took some damage from his burn but Alakazam did the same.

"Your bond with your banette is strong but our blond is just as powerful! Alakazam psycho cut," alakazam looks up toward the burning Pokemon and gives him a psychic blade to the face. Then he uses this opportunity to jump off of banette to distance himself from it. "My Pokemon and I are like family. And our will to battle will prevail. No matter how difficult or how powerful we will no lose easy." Alaskazam gives Seren a assuring nod even after taking so much damage he still holds on. "That's the spirit alakazam." Alakazam is seen panting but still holds on.
