"WHAHAHAHAHA, so you saved the best for last, a fire and fighting type huh?" Wattson bellowed. "I see you're still relying on type advantages."

"Hey, I know it takes more than types to decide a battle, and Infernape definitely has more than just a type advantage." Nick replied, his Infernape lowering into a fighting stance for battle.

"That's what I like to hear, so let's get started, Magneton, use Thunderbolt!" Wattson commanded, prompting Magneton to fire a bolt of lightning at Infernape.

"Dodge with Flame Wheel!" Nick instructed. Infernape cloaked himself with flames and spun to the side, evading the electric blast. Infernape then leaped into the air towards Magneton.

"Get out of there with Flash Cannon!" Wattson quickly ordered. Magneton shot a Flash Cannon at the ground, propelling itself upwards, just narrowly dodging the Flame Wheel.

"Use Mach Punch!" Nick immediately stated. As soon as Infernape made it to the ground the flames dissipated and his fist glowed with power. At incredible speed, Infernape rocketed up to Magneton and landed the Mach Punch for some major damage. "Yeah, we got him!"

"Alright kid, no more messing around, Magneton, use Lock On!" Wattson said. Magneton's eyes glowed and a targeting crosshairs appeared on the field, moving around until it came to Infernape, glowing green and disappearing suddenly. "Now, use Zap Cannon!" Magneton gathered up a large amount of electric energy, shaped it into a cannon ball, and fired it at Infernape.

"Dodge it!" Nick commanded. Infernape evaded the projectile with no problem, but suddenly, it changed direction and went straight for Infernape, landing a direct hit. "Infernape!" Nick exclaimed with concern.

"WHAHAHAHAHAHA, told you I had a trick up my sleeve!" Wattson began. "You see, usually Zap Cannon has terrible accuracy, but Lock On assures that the next move we make hits its mark." The gym leader explained.

"Grr, Infernape, are you ok?" Nick asked . Infernape took a good amount of damage, but it was still able to battle, however, just as it was standing tall and ready, sparks began to emanate from him. "Oh no, don't tell me." Zap Cannon also paralyzes its targets if it hits, this would be a real hindrance, since one of Infernape's greatest assets was its speed and maneuverability. "Damn it, we'll just have to make due."

"Well, let's see what you can come up with, Magneton, use Thunderbolt!" Wattson instructed.

"Dodge it Infernape!" Nick stated, but Infernape didn't move, unable to from the paralysis. The Thunderbolt scored a direct hit, causing some more decent damage. "Damn!"

"Alright, Magneton, let's finish this, use Flash Cannon!" Wattson ordered. Magneton charged the beam and fired.

"Please work, Infernape use Rock Climb!" Nick pleaded. Thankfully, Infernape was able to pull off the move, summoning a large pillar of stone under him. The Flash Cannon hit the pillar and shattered it, but Infernape was able to maneuver the debris with Rock Climb. "Now, Flame Wheel!" Infernape cloaked himself with flames and bounced off one of the rocks towards Magneton.

"Use Thunderbolt!" Wattson said. Magneton fired the bolt of lightning at the Flame Wheel, but Infernape powered through it and managed to land the hit, it was super effective.

"Magneton, you ok?" Wattson inquired, with Magneton panting its name in response. "Alright, use time for the end game, Lock On!" Magneton obeyed, locking onto Infernape. Nick knew what was coming, this last clash would decide the match. Both Pokemon were exhausted, but this worked out to Nick's advantage, as Infernape began to glow red with power, his ability Blaze was activating. "Now Magneton, use Zap Cannon!" Wattson ordered. Magneton fired the powerful ball of electricity, making a straight shot to Infernape.

"This is it Infernape, it's all or nothing, use Flare Blitz!" Nick commanded. Infernape enveloped itself with intense flames and charged at he Zap Cannon. The two moves collided, creating a large explosion, but when the smoke cleared, it was revealed that Infernape's Flare Blitz had won the clash, having been powered up by Blaze. Infernape rammed into Magneton, the super effective move draining all of its remaining energy to fight. Both Pokemon fell the ground, Infernape felt the recoil of Flare Blitz but managed to keep on standing, while Magneton just fell limp on the ground, defeated.

"Magneton is unable to battle, Infernape wins, and the victory goes to Nick!" The ref made his final announcement.

"Alright, we did it!" Nick exclaimed with glee, having one his first gym battle in the Hoenn region. Infernape panted as he gave his trainer a thumbs up.

Jake

Jake hopped up, getting off the bleachers and heading down to Nick. "Nice job man."Jake said, patting Nick o nthe back.

Jenny

Jenny gulped, reluctantly walking out. She was much more nervous this time around hten normal, due to the presence of her older brother. "Uh, Mr. Wattson. When you're done healing your pokemon I was hoping to try battling you again."Jenny said.

By this time Athens had made it back to Lavaridge town. He greeted the old woman who sold the herbs for the medicine, "hello Mama Roote, I have returned." She smiled and handed him a flask of spring water, in exchange he handed her a pokeball. "Your Cacturne was very well behaved, he just wanted to see a bit more of the the world for a switch."

The woman's face looked sour as she pointed to the pokemon center. Athens shuffled there quickly and entered. His grandfather was sick, and his sister was by the bedside. Blazer wasn't Athens actual grandfather, but he had raised him since he was a wee squirt along side his actual grand daughter Flannery.

"What happened?" Athens ask rubbing the green orb around his neck. The doctors explained how he was very sick and wouldn't be able to run the gym anymore. Flannery was next in line to run it but she wasn't eighteen yet, the legal age in Hoenn to run a gym. She was a few weeks away but for now Athens would have to take over the gym battles with Blazer's pokemon.

He left the pokemon center rather sad, but he was still on a mission, he headed back over to the herbs woman, "I finally found it... Raquazaite!!!" She looked puzzled and took it from him. The stone was emerald green and didn't show the same paturns of a mega stone. She shooed him away, it would take some examining. For now Athens had to focus on the gym. And with the trainers from another region on their way. He had a big challenge a head of him that he didn't even know about!

The stones flashing was interesting. The readings from the small devise showed similar energy to a mega stone but the energy was rather different. "Do you by any chance wish to simply fly to Mauville city? On your charizard it should take no more then three hours." Fal asked as he reached for a pokeball.

"That would make the job much eaiser." Seren then walks outside with his pokemom amd clutches Charizards pokeball. "I choose you charizard." Seren throws his pokéball into the air and.l Charizard comes out of it. He seems intent on having Seren playing with it. "Alright I love you to but we have to get going." Seren strokes Charizards horns gently relieving it of its itch. "Alright I'm ready but how do you plan on getting there? Unless you have a pokemon that can carry you."

"Ah, Jenny, back for more I see. WHAHAHAHAHA, good, I love a tenacious challenger." Wattson said with glee.

"Here Wattson, I'll start healing your Pokemon." The ref offered, taking Wattson's Pokeballs.

"I'll be happy to battle you again Jenny, but first, I have some business to attend to." He then walked over to Nick and Jake. "Well Nick, that was a great battle, and you beat me fair and square, so in honor of your victory at the Mauville City gym, I present you with this, the Dynamo Badge." Wattson pulled the shiny new badge out of his pocket and presented it to Nick, who gladly took it.

"Wow, thank you Wattson." Nick quickly thanked. "Alright, I got the Dynamo Badge!" Nick exclaimed with glee, holding up the badge with pride.

"Well Jenny, as soon as my Pokemon are all healed up, we'll have that rematch of yours." Wattson called back to the girl, finally making her presence known to the boys.

"Okay."Jenny said. "Jenny?"Jake asked. He walked up to Jenny hugged her. "Hey Jake."Jenny replied hesitantly. "What's wrong?"Jake asked. "I was hoping you'd get here late. I wanted to surprise you by beating all the gyms."Jenny said. "How did you get here if you missed the boat?"Jake asked. "One of Dad's friends took me. Since it wasn't a cruise liner he stopped alot less and was able to get here four weeks before you. I think."Jenny said. "So, do you want to go ahead and battle Wattson?"Jake asked. Jenny nodded. "I think Hannibal wants another shot."Jenny said.

"You bet I do. Hydreigon come on out." Throwing a pokeball the bright flash of light showed off a large and powerful three headed dragon. The beast let out a roar and floated above the ground. It was a bit larger then the charizard and growled towards the fire type. It did this to communicate. Being a naturally competitive and aggressive pokemon it would feel the need to compete with Charizard under his trainers orders. "Well then. Race you there." Fal jumps on the back of his dragon and smirks at Seren.

"You're on. I'm not losing this time fal." Seren then jumps onto his Charizard. Charizard then gives a glare to its opponent and lets out a mighty roar. "You ready Charizard? Lets do our best." Charizard then opens its above average sized wings and gets ready to jump. "Ready. Set. Go!" And with that Charizard and Hydreigon propel themselves into the air. Charizard flies up in a aileron roll like fashion. "Think you can keep up?" Seren then gives fal a smirk from the air.

"So you're Jake's sister huh, hey there, I'm Nick, me and Jake are sort of traveling together." Nick introduced himself. "So I guess you want to stick around and watch your sister battle huh, well Jenny, good luck out there." he wished the girl luck on her rematch. Just then the ref came back with the Pokeballs.

"Alright, all healed up Wattson." He said as he handed the gym leader back his Pokemon.

"Thanks ref, alright Jenny, let's have that rematch." Wattson said.

Jenny

Jenny gulped heading over to the area that challengers stood when a battle began. In the previous battles she'd been in she hadn't used Hannibal, being un-aware of his advantages in this gym. She waited for the Referee to start the match.

Jake

Jake headed back into the bleachers, with Ecto floating after him. Jenny had decided to have him sit out the battle this time. Especially considering how two of Wattson's pokemon were steal type, giving them an advantage over Ecto. "Wonder what pokemon she's using."Jake said. When he'd left Jenny's team was made up of most of the same pokemon, though in lower stages of Evolution.

"Think you can keep up?" Fal had a confident look on his face after hearing this comment. "Hydreigon show them true speed." Fal said not even holding onto his dragon. His arms crossed and legs around the dragons torso it nodded and growled as if responding. Slowing down to open it's wings it let out a growl followed by a burst of speed. Flicking it's wings back the dragon flew at incredible speed. Knocking past the Charizard Fal looked over to mock his new friend as they flew ahead with great speed.

"It's not over yet! Charizard swallow flamethrower." Charizard understands Seren's command and actually swallows a flamethrower. Afterwards a reddish orange aura surrounds the pokemom. It then lets out a triumphant roar. "I saw this technique done by a younger trainer. This ought to speed things up. Lets go!" Seren then holds on tight to his pokemon as Charizard gets a speed boast catching up with Hydreigon at a fast pace.

Wattson

"The Mauville City Gym Battle between Jenny and Wattson is about to begin. Each trainer will use 3 Pokemon each, only the challenger is allowed to substitute Pokemon. The battle will end when all 3 of one side's Pokemon are unable to battle." The ref announced for the second time that day. "Now, battle begin!"

"Alright Magneton, one more time!" Wattson threw his Pokeball, bring out his Magneton.

Nick

"So he's starting off with Magneton this time around huh?" Nick pondered out loud as he and Jake took their seats on the bleachers. "Rematches are pretty tough, you need an entirely new strategy, sometimes even a totally different Pokemon line up, just to ensure the Gym leader doesn't predict your movement, hope she'll be alright."

Jenny

Jenny gulped. "Alright HAnnibal, let's hope things go our way."She said, tossing her pokeball. It popped open, and out of it came the form of a a fairly large Golurk, larger than most. Hannibal let out a low growl as it saw Wattson's Magneton.


Jake

"Well, she does have a Gole-HOYL CRAP! Is that Hannibal?!"Jake asked in shock when he saw Hannibal come out of his Pokeball. From personal experience, Jake knew Golurk's could be large, but so far Hannibal was one of the largest, easily being twice his height.

"Hydreigon pull up and flap your wings." Fal smirked and the dragon opened his wings. With another flap into the fire types face. This would not harm him but the gust of wind would slow him down and maybe extinguish the flames in his mouth. "Shouldn't be more then ten minutes more. Keep going." Fal taps Hydreigons middle head and the three flew forward again.

"Not this time. Lets go Charizard. We can make it." Charizard gives Seren a nod of trust and flaps his wings harder. He then barrel rolls around hydreigon gaining a speed boast as he does it. Serem then mocks fal. "Shouldn't be more then ten minutes." He then taps the base of Charizards neck and he then speeds up even faster.

Wattson

"Well, a Golurk huh, I see you've been holding out on me, WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Wattson said in amusement, this was going to be an interesting battle. "Well, if you don't mind, I'll take the first move, Magneton, use Lock On!" Magneton obeyed and locked on to the large Golurk. "Now, use Flash Cannon!" Magneton charged up the metallic beam and fired it, the Lock On guaranteeing a hit.

Jenny

The Flash Cannon staggering Hannibal back a few feet, though he was still standing. "I can't hurt someone with Earthquake or magnitude if they're floating.... Uh..... Hannibal, try and knock it to the ground with Hammer arm, and then use Earthquake."Jenny ordered. With that Hannibal let out a loud groan and is charged at Magneton, swinging its fist at the electric pokemon. The attack hit, knocking Magneton to the ground. With another groan, Hannibal lifted his leg up, before slamming it into the gorund, leaving a foot shaped crater and shaking the battle field.

"Let him go Hydreigon. No use in beating him every time." Fal smirks as Hydreigons speed slows slightly being more pleasant on the both of them as they moved at still a high constant speed.
