Sly hopped off the gurney, he followed Nick outside and watched him toss a grenade at some crows "oh you got a grenade too?!" he said with a grin "how cool are they right!!??". His forearms began to frost up to his elbows, coating his fingers completely. The frost faded as it got to his elbows "oh I feel something else coming" a tingling sensation in his feet brought a devilish smile to his lips.
He ran from the group and leapt up into the air. An ice pillar conjured up beneath his feet as his they left the ground, sending him unbelievably high, almost as high as a four story building "Heeeellll yeeeeaaaa!" he yelled from the excitement. It soon hit him, what about the fall?. At the Peak of his jump he looked down with wide eyes "oh shit..." He said to himself. The ground came at him fast causing him to stiffen up his muscles to brace for impact. As soon as he landed the ground cracked under the impact and his shoes left two mini craters, but he felt no pain "I LOVE being a conduit!" he said throwing a fist into the air.
Not long after, Nick had his breakdown. Sly was confused, not knowing this Sarah person... It brought a sickening feeling to his stomach... What was he forgetting?
He shook the thought from his head and approached Nick "we should go search for her, just... Be prepared for the worst..."

"Want me to stay around here in case more of those guys show up?"Evan asked. Unlike Nick, Evan didn't have anyone to worry about. He just recently arrived in the town. He hadn't had time to get to know anyone, and hte only family membe rhe had that lived here, his younger cousin Selena, was staying over at his parents house until Evan could get settled in.
Arsenic let out a heavy sigh at the boy's breakdown, he really didn't know how to tell him, but it was best that he knew. "...You won't find her." Arsenic said, stopping the boys from leaving. He stood before them, a strange, almost sympathetic look on his face. "Nick... only a Conduit could survive a Ray Field Blast, and all other humans..." He paused, not sure he should go through with it. "...we've already searched the entire area, the only survivors we found were either Conduits, or Normals at the very edge of the Blast. If she was with you when you're powers were activated, then... she is most likely dead."
...
The whole world just stopped. Nick stood there, shocked beyond belief, his mind still trying to process what he had just been told. He subconsciously drowned out all of the sound around him, only the racing of his beating heart could be heard to him.
"...no..." He finally spoke, stumbling back in horror. "No, no, no, no no no no no NO!!" Nick exclaimed, a pulse of sound waves emanating from him on the final word. Nick couldn't believe it, he refused to, despite any objections Nick sprinted out of the camp. "Sarah!" he called out, helplessly running through the destroyed city. "Sarah... Sarah!" He just kept repeating her name as the memories of that day flooded his mind. It was the weekend and Nick was going to visit his childhood friend Sarah at the Plague Ward. By then the Plague had spread all across the country, nearly every major city had a Plague Ward, where the people who contracted the horrible disease went to die. They were in the city only for Collage, and not long after the semester began, Sarah contracted the Plague. She spent the last month cooped up in the Plague Ward, it was a miracle that she held on for so long; every day after classes Nick would go visit her, watching her get worse and worse, but she never let him see her suffer, she always smiled when he came, assuring him that she would get better. They both knew it was an empty promise.
"Sarah!" Nick had finally made it back to the Plague Ward, or what was left of it anyway. "Sarah, Sarah, are you here. Please, if you can hear me speak up!" Nick shouted, digging through the wreckage in a futile effort to find her. He remembered more...
And then, it happened, the evacuation order, whatever had been destroying cities along the coast the past few days was finally making its way into the city. Nick was visiting Sarah as usual, she insisted that he evacuate with the other civilians, but he refused, he wasn't just going to leave her, he would evacuate with her and all of the other Plague victims. However, the military had no intension of evacuating them, they were just dead weight to them, they were doomed anyway after all. Nick panicked, Sarah kept telling him to leave her and escape, but he didn't listen. He put her in a wheelchair and tried to take her to an extraction point, he was willing to beg them to take her if he had to. But then, as soon as he got onto the street, he saw him. The Demon of Empire City, the man now known as the Beast, Cole MacGrath. Nick ran, as fast as his legs could carry him, pushing Sarah along, but the crowed of civilians blocked his path, they were stuck. he could feel the energy welling up inside of Cole, the civilians begging and pleading for him to spare them, but he just looked on, with cold and remorseless eyes, and he could swear, he was staring right at him.
"Sarah...!" Nick cried as he fell to his knees, his friend nowhere to be found. He looked down at his hands, pulsating with sound waves, remembering one final thing. How Sarah took his hand, looked at him with tears in her eyes, and said, "Nick, I'm sorry... goodbye."
"GRAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Nick bellowed, slamming the ground, letting out pulses of sound waves into it. Sadness and despair welled up inside of him, and when that ran out, there was nothing, just an empty void. "...Sarah." He whimpered as he sobbed for his lost friend.

"What are you crying about?"A voice asked after a while. The voice originated from a young woman, most likely in her mid twenties. Her skin wa spale and her hair was dark black. Her eyes were bright green. She wore a leather half-jacket with a normal cotton t-shirt under it, tight jeans, and a pair of boots that were covered mostly by her pant leg. Clearly she'd been in the blast, with her clothes having been torn up a bit, with her jeans and shirt having holes in them, and her jacket being covered in dust.
Nick looked up with his tear filled eyes at the woman, still whimpering in sadness.
"...w-who are you?" He inquired, as if to avoid the question. He examined her clothing, clearly she was a victim of the Blast, and considering that she was still standing with no problem, she must've been a Conduit. Something told him to be wary, but so far she had been one of only three Conduits he had met that day that didn't immediately try to kill him, so he gave her the benefit of the doubt. "I-I'm sorry but.... I really don't feel like talking right now..." He said, fighting back another breakdown.

"My name's Jaqulynn. What happened?"She asked. "Did someone get hurt?"She asked, kneeling down to be on eye level with Nick.
Nick was somewhat frustrated with the woman's persistence, he really didn't feel like talking about this personal tragedy, much less to some total stranger. However, he knew he had to talk to somebody, if just vent, apparently talking is suppose to help. Nick took a deep breath to calm himself and spoke.
"...My friend, Sarah," He began, in a soft, defeated voice. "She...she died in the Blast... I tried to save her but... I tried to help her but..." He punched the ground in anger. "...I COULDN'T!"

"Well, don't blame yourself for that. That blast wasn't caused by you. Considering how you're still here I assume you didn't even get out of the city before the blast."The woman said. "Atleast your friend isn't in any danger. The streets here aren't the best to be in after all. And she doesn't have to put up with all the trouble that we still have to."the Woman added, trying herb est to console Nick.
"So she's better off dead?!" Nick snapped at Jaqulynn. "Is that seriously what you're trying to say, is that supposed to make me feel better?! Sarah was the strong one, she was the one who handle anything, take the burden off others even! She could've handled this situation... a hell of a lot better than I could."
Sly walked over to the woman, placed a hand on her shoulder and gently pushed her back "lady, you may think you're helping but just give him some room" he didn't mean to be rude, but when it comes to friends and strangers, he knows when to put his foot down.
Sly kneeled down near Nick "cmon man" he gave Nick his hand "let's get you up, she'd be proud of the fact that you saved my life today and at least she's not suffering anymore"

"She was suffering? Was she sick with something?"The woman asked. "Did she have the plague?"She asked.
"lady I said BACK OFF" Sly said pushing her back with more force, this time face to face with her "push some more, I dare you, I'll freeze you where you stand"
"Hey! Chill out!"The woman said stumbling back. "I just asked a dman question. If that's grounds to be murdered by some ass hole conduit than no wonder everyone's afraid of us."She said angrily.
"...Yes." Nick replied solemnly, taking Sly's hand as he helped him up. "We were here, in the Plague Ward when it happened. I... I saw it happen, I saw him, the Demon of Empire City... the Beast." Nick stumbled out of the destroyed Plague ward, pointing over to the middle of the road. "He was standing right there, and we were right over there, we were practically in the dead center, she... she didn't stand a chance." He fought hard to keep the tears from flowing again, it wasn't hard, he felt like he had no tears left.
Sly gave her daggers, he was just one question away from unleashing some pain "there's a time and place lady, now is neither of those. You have a question?" Sly asked, his arms frosting up "then keep it yourself and let the curiosity eat you.
He stood there for a minute or two, sizing her up, now would be a bad time to start a fight but Sly would not hesitate if she does anything aggro worthy.
Sly followed Nick outside quickly lending a hand as Nick stumbled "here we go pal, steady"

"I'm sorry to hear that. I really wish that they were able to make a cure for the plague."The woman said. "Maybe if less conduits were so needlessly violent and we weren't put on the 'shoot on sight' list than maybe we might be able to find a cure for the plagure."She added shooting a glare Sly. She was doing her best to keep from letting her powers loose. She thoguht her current powers were disgusting, it wasn't pretty to watch, and the noises they made almost had her vomit the first time she used them. "My name's Jaqulynn."She introduced, mostly to Nick who seemed to be hte most level headed out of the two. "Is it just you two? Or is anyone else in y'alls' group?"She asked changing the subject.
"That would be us." Arsenic said as he approached. "Hello Jaqulynn, my name is Dr. Arsenic, of the Conduit Counter-Measures Devision, don't let the name fool you though, I am one of you." He said, manipulating some wires on his wrist to prove his Conduit status. He walked around the area, examining the ruins of the buildings that once held the Plague victims of the city. "So, this is all that's left of the Plague Ward... you know, there's a reason for all this destruction." He stated, gaining the groups full attention, Nick's most of all.
"It's no coincidence that the Plague Ward was made the center of the blast, it is the same for all the cities attacked, every single one of them. You see, the Plague is not viral or bacterial, it is caused by Ray Field Radiation, deadly to humans... but Conduits are a different story. We are immune to the Plague, but only when activated, and how are Conduits activated you may ask..." Arsenic was now standing in the vary spot that Cole was standing in, his arms raised in the same exact fashion as well.
"...a Ray Field Blast. All people who possess the Conduit Gene caught in the Blast are activated, all others, they die, a mere casualty of war, collateral damage, if you will. Cole MacGrath, the Beast, is trying to save people from the Plague, sure the odds are one in a thousand, but... better than nothing, right?"

(wait for nick, sorry ^.^)
"Better than nothing... saving people from the Plague, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!" Nick snapped, all of his sadness and despair turning into rage. "I didn't even have the Plague, Sarah was the one who was sick, she was the one who needed saving, and you're telling me I was the one who survived just because I'm a... Conduit FREAK!!! ...And Sarah died... because she wasn't. How... HOW THE HELL IS THAT FAIR!!!!"
