I don't know why but some people will start setting up an RP or request to do an RP or start one with me and then about a few replies in abandon the RP or reply once every five or six days. I've had one person stop all together and every time I ask them if they are still participating in the RP they claim they were busy but on their profile it's days they've been starting more RP's in the fourms and posting everyday!
I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I'm an okay writer even though my word choice can be off and spell check makes me want to crawl into a dark corner and cry.
Anyway I was wondering if it is just me that this happens to and if there is anything I can do to prevent it.

i could offer you a rp, as long as you don't mind funny parts in it (tend to use quotes from books/films and sometimes puns xD)
most of the time i`ll try to respond asap, but im living in cet (+1), sooooooo the reply times are usually a bit weird ^^

Sometimes an RP plot can sound a lot more entertaining in concept than it actually is; ordinarily it is polite to inform your RP partner when that happens but, some people find it awkward or are perhaps uncomfortable admitting it and thus perhaps might well ignore it in a hope that it'll be quietly forgotten about.
IRL does factor into it. I can understand why them starting new RP's might be annoying but regarding forum posts, it is a lot easier to type out a few sentences on a forum than it is to write a paragraph of role-playing text.

I tend to like RP's that are dark or serious, I'm not very good at comedy.

Yeah I guess so, I don't like forum role-playing though as I'll forget about it easily and the reply will get lost in a sea of notifications
I just feel silly when I put up a concept and get no response.

^^ ok
I'd be willing to rp with you if we can come up with an idea for a plot.
This article might actually be of help to you: http://www.rprepository.com/help/drama/ in that it deals with how to talk to people who aren't telling you the whole story.
It's true, don't worry. It doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with you. Many people go through the same thing sometimes, myself included, and well, it's just part of the rp life.
Spellplague is right, sometimes it just is awkward for them and choose to not to step forward and instead just let it be forgotten. Don't let it get you down, though. The right rp buddy and the concept will come along soon.

some times I place rp to the sides when I am stuck, so I go play something else for awhile. but if you have a goo connection to your partner you should ask ever so often how the rp is going what they would like to do, ect. thought it is polite to say hey i am done with this rp I cant move it forward, most just drop the potato. but I think the best way around it is to talk to the players see what there enjoying not like about the rp and work with them, beyond that there is not much you can do.
