Good morning/afternoon/evening/whenever it is you are reading this.... and happy holidays!
I come bearing not so great news during a time that is supposed to be festive and joyous.
One of my cats, Atticuss, has been diagnosed with early onset hyperthyroidism caused by a benign tumor growing on his thyroid. The condition itself isn't that bad. It's not life threatening, but it's going to be expensive to treat as he is already FIV+ and has IBD.
I have the option to keep him on a lifetime of meds, which are about $60 every month, or go with other, more expensive options. One being surgery to remove the abnormal thyroid tissue, or the second option is going to a vet 2 hours away for a 2 day straight radiation treatment. Both would be in the thousands. For now, we're going to do the medication and just see how he fairs with it.
Yesterday's vet bill was right around $300, plus last month was about $80, and I anticipate next month will probably be around $100 since we'll be doing another blood draw.
Understandably, this has put me in a tight spot and holiday shopping hasn't been exactly easy, either.
I really hate asking for help, but this is one of those situations where I really need it. I would go broke for my cats, but if I don't have to that would be great, haha.
Anything you might be able to give will help tremendously. And if you can't give, I ask you please repost this and give me signal boosts wherever you can. Livejournal, tumblr, DA, other roleplay communities...
My paypal goes directly into my bank account: mokiwolf@gmail.com
So it'll be applied towards the current bills and the next month's.
Thank you all, and I hope you have wonderful holidays

If I wasn't facing medical bills in the thousands myself I'd send you some money! I'm sorry to hear about your kitty (and your wallet) but I'll keep you in my thoughts and share the topic with people I know.
May I recommend setting up a donation page on a site like GoFundMe? They take a small portion of the donations, but it makes people more willing to donate in general as their info doesn't end up directly in your hands. I did the same to cover my kitty's vet bills and posted in some cat specific forums (like a cat group in a knitting community) and it helped a lot.

I considered Gofundme but I didn't want that percentage taken out x_x
However! I got an unexpected and generous bonus from my boss plus some donations and that's going to help tremendously cover his expenses for the next couple months at least n_n
Thanks to anyone who donated or spread the word!
