Lucia looked VERY out of place amongst all the pastel... But he sat none the less, sighing.
"Well... You believe in magic, and it seems to be a bit of a touching subject with you, so this may set you at ease. I am one half Shadow Golem, and I use a combination of Helios and Necros Magicka. The guy you saw in hte window is actually Deception Incarnate, and I killed him 5 years ago in a different realm."
He stopped for a moment. Then he shrugged.
"Yeah that pretty much sums it up."

Well the man knew his stuff. Nero stretched back into his chair. "I study spirit magic," he said. That was a vague statement - pretty much all magic branches forked into 'spirit' in one way or another. "I specialise in enchantments," he added.
"What exactly do you mean by 'Deception Incarnate'?" he asked. "Could 'deception' ever truly be killed, anyway?"
The young waitress brought out two paper cups full of hot chocolate. Nero brought it to his lips, feeling the warmth flow through his body.

Lucia slowly drank his, a soft hum escaping him as the chocolatey goodness spread.
"What is he exactly... Well, he's not your friend, your enimie, or anyone else. He's everything and nothing at the same time. And he is evil by 75% of most peoples standards."
He tapped his cup for a moment, thinking.
"He is just one face. There's been multiple Incarnates, this though I have a problem with."

"I think this might be out of my league," Nero admitted. "I'm not much of a fighter, and I definitely don't want to kill a man ... even if he's evil."
Nero looked nervously out of the window. "I wish you the best, but I don't think there's much I can do for you."

Lucia looked at him for a moment before running a hand through his hair.
"Maybe I should be more clear. I didn't 'kill' him per say. I sealed him, or at least I thought I did. I've seen this guy get dropped in the center of the sun, and 5 minutes later he comes back saying he didn't get the tan he wanted. You can't really kill him... just seal his power so it moves to another vessel. One with less evil motives."

Sealing power... He'd never done that before, but he had the information to learn that kind of spell. A one-way energy transfer between a being an an object of choice - of course for a powerful being you would need a powerful object to contain it.
He remembered the shiver he felt outside the shop. Nero looked Lucia right in the eyes. "I might be able to help you," he said. "Given enough time and the right ingredients I might be able to build something to contain a spirit of that kind."

Lucia rasied an eyebrow.
"Have you ever dealt with incarnations before?" he asked, skeptical at best.
"I mean, i'm not bashing your skill level, but... Well, i'm willing to try."

"I mean, i'm not bashing your skill level, but... Well, i'm willing to try."
"Nope!" Nero said, with a little too much cheer. "I'm just a normal guy. I'm a waiter down at Aprés Soleil. But that doesn't mean I don't know my stuff." He could drop his father's name. His surname was usually enough for those in the magic community to take him seriously - but this guy was from another plane, or something like that. More likely than not, he'd just sound a fool.
"Here, look at this." Nero said slipping off his watch, handing it to Lucia. It was a family heirloom - a heavy thing with a leather band and bronze and silver gears were visible from the glass face. On the back, magic runes were etched into the metal. Circles within circles of minute patterns and ancient script. "Just a side-project. A little something I've been working on."

Lucia turned the watch over in his hand, examining the watch.
"Very nice..." He handed it back and put his hands in his pockets.
"Well, for now we don't have to worry about that guy. He's not causing trouble... yet. And that should give us some time before action is needed. In the mean time..."
Lucia tilted his head a bit.
"How... exactly do you do your magic?"

"We study the ancient language," Nero explained. "It's a dead language found in relics around the world. There's a lot we don't know about it," he admitted. "Using the language we're able to manipulate the magic field - bending it to our will."
His eyes darted away as an attractive red-head walked past the cafe window. After a moment, he continued. "Anyway, it's good that we have some time. It's takes time to research the spell and gather the ingredients. I could give you my cellphone number if you want to get in contact with me."

"Sounds good to me." Lucia scribbled his own number on a napkin and slid it to Nero. Then he stood up.
"In any case, contact me whenever you're ready. I have a few old friends I need to get in contact with. Later."
He gave a wave and headed out of the Cafe, and back out into the cold streets.
