In the morning, Emy woke up, fastly doing her routine and after, running out of her dorm to go join Vincent.
Vincent was waiting at the school training grounds, manual in hand and bag filled with other useful equipment to his side. He was silently reviewing the rules before Emy came into view.
"Hey there, a little earlier than I expected, good." Vincent said as he stood to greet her. "So, you ready to get started?
"Hey there, a little earlier than I expected, good." Vincent said as he stood to greet her. "So, you ready to get started?
''Ready?! I am born ready!'' She answered smiling and running on place.
Vincent let out a chuckle. "Good the hear, alright, let's start off with a little warm up, say 10 laps around the grounds... in your human form." Vincent stressed, noticing she was about to change. "After that, we can get down to business. Let's go." Vincent led the way, jogging at a satisfying pace.
Emy laughed. ''Only 10 laps.. hehehe..'' The girl said, walking into the locker room, changing and walking out. In about 10 minutes, she already did 5 of the laps.
Vincent was no slouch when it came to fitness, but against a Were-Beast, even in human form, he was left in the dust, he was always a good three laps behind her, suddenly he was regretting this whole excursion. Eventually the two finished their warm up, Vincent taking a moment to steady his breathing.
"Alright, now that we're all warmed up, let's get cracking." Vincent said. "First off, since you're kind of unfamiliar with the competition, we should probably go over the basic rules before we begin. Here, I got you a copy of the manual, so you can follow along." He said, handing her the book.

''Thanks.'' She said, grabbing the book and starting reading.
"OK, here we go." Vincent said as he opened his own manual and started reading. "As you know, the Grand Quest Competition is an annual event that is meant to strengthen the bonds between Mages and Non-Mages, as such the competition is conducted in teams of two, one Mage, and one Non-Mage of any kind. Elves are considered Non-Mages however they are restricted from using Elven Magic during the competition, only the partner that is designated at the Mage of the duo is allowed to use Magic. For our purposes, magic is defined as the manipulation of reality through the use of the energy source known as Mana, this of course means that Elementals, such as Tree Ents, Pyromancers, and Frosted Humans, who do not require Mana, are allowed to make use of their abilities to a limited extent."
Emy nodded and smirked when she heard the word ''Frosted Humans.'' Heck yeah! She could turn into a wolf and use her ice/snow powers! ''That's awesome!'' The girl said.
"As the name of the competition suggests, the matches will consist of a "Quest", a certain task or objective that the participants race to complete. These Quests are often based on significant events in Magical History and can range from a war reenactment, a scavenger hunt, or even a one-one duel or boss fight, be sure to be ready for anything." Vincent continued.
"I am prepared to face everything!" Replied Emy, jokingly, taking a fiery and jokey pose.
"The Quests can be placed into two even broader categories, Party Quest, and Proxy Quest." Vincent read. "Party Quests involve both partners to participate in the quest out in the field. For Party Quests the pairs will be "Binded" to each other, meaning they must be in a certain proximity of each other in order to use their abilities, thus purposely separating opponents from their partners is a viable strategy. For Proxy Quests the Non-Mage goes out on their own in the field to complete the objective while the Mage remains outside the field, using an Alter to keep track of their partner and support them with their Magic. The Mage can cast whatever pre-approved spells in their arsenal, including offensive and support spells, however, a Mage cannot cast magic on another Mage."
"Seems legit." Emy said, beginning to make push ups on one arm.
Vincent chuckled at the display, closing the manual. "Looks like you're officially done listening to me talk, so we'll just leave it at that for now. Alright, let's officially kick off our training." Vincent walked over to his back and brought out his Tome, magically flipping the pages to a certain spell and activating it. A multitude of Rune Circles appeared around Emy and emerging from them were small creatures that seemed to be made out of a glowing, transparent energy. "I know you're tough, but let's see how you do in an actual fight, these Mana Golems will be your opponents."
Emy nodded, grinning. The girl setted her arms in Ice and created a double sided ice axe to start fighting.
"Alright, let's see what you got!" Vincent said, willing the golems to attack Emy, they weren't very strong, but they were quick, and could be trouble if Emy let them gang up on her.
Emy smashed some that were on the ground and rolled on the floor, crushing the others with her body.
"Not bad, but don't get too comfortable just yet!" Vincent said, summoning more golems, these were slightly larger and more powerful, but still retained their speed.
Seeing that the majority of the golems were climbing on her, Emy turned herself into ice, causing the golems to slide off her body onto the ground, making it easier for her to smash them.
"These won't be as easy as the last batch!" Vincent warned, the golems rolling away and standing back up before Emy could smash them. The refocused on the girl and attacked once again.
