Anna rushed after him, "Wait!" she grabbed his shoulder. "Do you have a place to sleep?" she asked.
Kara and Begad followed after Anna. "If you don't, I could give you a few gold pieces. That should be enough to get you a room."Kara offered.
"My castle to the east holds several extra rooms, plenty for you to rest, if you promise to travel with me and help me bring this group to justice, you will always have a place there," she promised.
The Bearon stopped, "sleep? Gold? Food?" He turned standing his full 10 feet height, "why is my help so valuable to you?" He asked. Icias just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that she just opened up her home to a beggar. "If you answer that I will go with you to find out who that was, and who killed your pa."
"It is difficult enough to find those willing, leta lone worthy, to assist me in my quest. You're help would be not only welcome, but also rewarded."
"How do you measure my worth, is it based on my choice in bar? Or my ability to beg?" Icias was being smart with her. Attempting to test her character he continued, "or is worthiness based on luck? And just because I stumbled upon this old man and his plot, that makes my worth more valuable???" He was still testing her, but he did not want to come off as threatening. He sat down cutting his hieght in half. Being a runt Bearon he was a bit smaller then most of his kind but that was still nearly double the humans before him. As he sat down facing them he wondered why he was considering helping this woman, and the creepy cat and its girl... "So... What has measured my worth miss Sterling?"
"Maybe luck, fate, whatever you wish to call it, brought you to the situation, but it was how you reacted that caught my attention. You saw an opportunity to stop evil, and at least tried to take it. That in and of itself proves to me that you are plenty worthy of this cause." She smiled and looked at the three of them, "I am sincerely hoping that you three understand my situation, and I hope that you will use your talents to not only help me, but help this country."
"Well.... I guess Begad and I could."Kara said. "What exactly are we going to do though? Do we have any ideas who might be planning to kill you?"Kara asked. "Well, there's that Old man. Maybe we could find him and figure out who it is."Begad suggested.
"That's why I need your help," Anna said
"I guess i could travel with you until my luck changes." Icias wasn't fond of assassins of course but he did like the sound of a warm bed and hot shower. "For the time being I will act as your body guard, but I warn you. I will kill none of your enemies," Icias had only killed a handful of creatures in the past and he regretted even the cruelest of people he had slain. "Your foes are yours alone, I will keep you from death, and you keep warm food in my stomach." He felt that keeping her alive wouldn't be too difficult. "That is my offer," he tried not to sound as desperate and begging as he was inside, but he wasn't going to cross the lines of his morals. He would starve first... and almost had. "Do we have an accord miss Sterling?"
She smiled, "Absolutely. And not to worry, I don't plan on killing anyone either."
"So, we going after that old guy or what?"Begad asked, climbing up to Kara's shoulders.
Icias was still uncomfortable with this arrangement and he definitely wasn't quick to trust any of them but he'd take this meal, and the good night sleep and see what happened. Worse case scenario he got a good meal and just left in the morning, this was not a hostage thing. No official deal was made, he could leave if any one of these people weren't who they said they were. "So where do you call home miss Sterling? Is it close??" He asked as he examined the wood on the house, it was red oak. Expensive for an old man, his group of killers must be extremely well off. This may be a bit more dangerous then previously imagined.
"It is close to a certain perspective, no more than a days ride by sea to Castle Anvil. That is my home," she said, starting towards the docks.
"Ah great. Water."Begad said with a groan. Kara picked Begad up and followed after Anna.
And Icias got on all fours and began to follow as well trotting behind the group at a safe distance as if following prey ready to... But he wouldn't eat people. Unless they were fish people. Fish was good, "hey can we eat something soon?" It had been a few hours of walking and the Bearon was hungry as hell.
"Of course, let's find one of the noble tavern and get some proper food," she led the way to the Maiden's Keep, where all the nobles in the city gathered for events. She sat at a table and they were quickly greeted by servants. "Three drinks for my friends and three of your finest meals," she said smiling and dropping 14 gold pieces on the table.
Ryder was in the Maiden's Keep, and he saw a lady drop 14 gold on the table. "Huh" he thought to himself, " what an odd group to be together, mabey I could make a few silver or gold helping them." He stands up and walks over to that table, with a Bearon, god it's been some time but he knows the difference between a Bearon and an average bear. He stands next to the table and asks " Are you looking for a little help on a quest?" He asked directing that question twards the girl that layed down the gold pieces.
