On December 21st, I collapsed from a hernia in my back. This is the second time in a 6 month period. The hospital here refuses to fix my back, even though I've been bed bound for two weeks. I wasn't able to even sit up in bed or roll over, the pain was that bad. Thankfully my parents have been able to visit me twice a day to take care of me, but surgery has become a necessity.
There's a clinic in Germany about an hour away that helped me dad in '07 & '09 when he had his hernias. The problem is that my insurance won't cover it and I can't switch to a different insurance company who does because of my debts.
The surgery is a must though. I can't even begin to describe how awful this condition is or how depressing being a prisoner of your own bed is, not to mention the many complications from not being able to go to the bathroom!
The surgery runs up around €3,500 - money I don't have at the moment. I set up a fundraiser with knitted items as rewards for certain donation amounts to help cover some fees. I'm not expecting to meet the goal, but even just a hundred euros helps me out a lot. I'm hoping that those unable to donate can spread the word on social media. I know everyone is strapped for cash so I'm hoping that being able to knit something in exchange will make it more fair!
If you want to commission something knitted from me for a different price, PLEASE get in touch with me!! I'd be happy to work something out!!
The fundraiser can be found here: http://www.gofundme.com/backsurgeryfund
I have MRI pictures from June for those who want to verify authenticity (which is okay!! I don't mind verifying) and after the surgery I'll have updated paperwork to show with recent MRI photos, just in case. (The clinic doesnt open until January 5th and my surgery will likely follow up the scan.)
Um.. well, if anyone has questions feel free to ask. I'm on quite a bit of morphine so responses may be delayed depending on how I'm feeling. Thanks for reading either way!

Don't have any money to spare right now but the next time I have some I'll buy something.
In the meantime, I've shared this along the grapevine in my small network of friends. I know a few people who are into knitting and crochet (including my sister,) so I'm hoping someone sees it.
I'm really sorry I couldn't help more, and you are in my prayers.

In case anyone has concerns about it, that site will do currency changes for you, so you can give a different type and the recipient still gets the type they need! Just be aware that Euros are presently have a slightly higher value than American dollars.
I wish I could help, but all I could do was share it Via Facebook! If you need anything, just let me know~!
