It would be quite delightful if we had a 'mark as read' button for personal messages we don't actually read because we are lazy but don't want to have constantly tagged as a new message.

Hmmn, that could probably be supported. They can't be deleted in the meanwhile? Or are these messages you intend to read in the future when you feel unlazy?

I usually read them later when the mood strikes. Or, for example, I tell someone to send me something and I know it's there and I want it to sit in my inbox (saved messages are beyond me, I forget about them) for future reference it would be nice to have this function. If that makes any sort of sense. I use this pretty often in emails.
