//Sorry it’s a bit short, but I try.//
‘Exactly what happens when you stay in the tenebrous too long? Well, you become the tenebrous yourself. It turns you into something most will fear, and into something that you would rather die than to be. It turns you into a monster. It corrupts you. Breaks you. It riddles your words around like a genie making you regret the wish you have made. Then again, regret is what made this all happen. Regret tainted an innocent human’s mind and bounded him into darkness. Bounded ME into darkness. I didn’t want to see the world in pain anymore. This isn’t what I meant. Why must I fight in eternal darkness now? Why?’
‘Grandfather, can you tell me the story of Verboten?’
“Verboten? I have not heard that name in a long time, but I know the story very well.”
‘Father said it’s about a man who made a big mistake.’
“That he did. Lets begin…”
Once there was a man of art. He was beautiful, he was cunning, he was wealthy, he was poetic, and he was brilliant. You’d think every woman would be after someone like him. You’d believe he would be that of a dream man. You’d be very mistaken. This man was never loved for being himself, but he was loved for his riches. His talents were wasted due to the wealthiness that blinded the poor fools of the town. Though, none of this mattered to him when he fell in love with a woman named Crystal.
He was stunned, and hypnotized by her beauty, by her sweet and innocent ways, by her interest in his art and culture. This was his dream, that would soon become his nightmare. After he married her and stayed with her for a year, he wrote her in his Will. He wanted to give her enough money to live happily if he by chance were to die.
He soon was confronted by his wife one night, her wielding a gun and putting it to his head. He couldn’t believe it. She never loved him. She was only there so she could take his money, after he were to be murdered by her. At that moment, he felt horrid pain, as if he were shot in the heart, but the gun remained solitary to his head as his wife went on about how she never loved him. How he was nothing to her. How she slept with another man the whole time.
Everything she said was slowly being drowned out by thoughts. He questioned if he was worth anything. Was he something someone would love? Or is he just an ATM a woman would love to get her hands on. He interrupted her and said,
“Fine. Kill me. If I had one last dying wish, it is that I would not see such a world full of impudent lies. To see not the fools who take money from me, no, but to steal my heart. I would rather be oblivious and blind,” he said as the trigger was pulled, and a loud shot was heard throughout the large manor. Then, loud running ran down the marble stairs, but not without a stumble, and tumble, and a loud scream that turned into a darkened wince and moan in pain, then a final breath. Well...she got what was coming to her. Though, this was not the end. No. This was the beginning.
A butler of the manor rushed past the dead body of the beloved Crystal, as if he knew exactly what happened. He would rush into his master’s room and kneel to the dead body.
“Master Tensin. I am sorry I came too late. I heard your call...your call of sorrow. Haha~ I am bound to you…..no matter what is to happen. I am to help you. Your wish...is my command, Master Tensin.”
Just like that, the bullet wound began to heal, but his skin was pale, and his shocked eyes would pale into a light purple. He took a soft breath, before slowly sitting up. He moved to hug his butler, but he would disappear around him, and into a dark pendant on the male’s pendant. He could not see where he was. He only saw darkness, but he knew that he had to run away. Fast. Thus, the story of Verboten was born.
‘Grandfather…..Verboten is blind?’
“He is now. See….he knew he was going to die, but he didn’t want to die just yet. He wanted revenge on all those who used him. It was no coincidence that Crystal died. No. Not all. See, what most people don’t know about this story, is that Verboten’s butler was a demon of the shadows. He killed Crystal, and gave his master life again, but also granted his wish.”
‘He is blind...just like you, grandfather…”
“That is true. Save your questions until the end. Let us continue.”
About a hundred years later, he still lived, now being in the 21st Century. He still owned the house, but anyone who had suspicions about why he lived for so long had died. So…
Here is where the story of Verboten begins.
Imagine a tall, muscular man cloaked in black, hair drenched in the sweet color of ivory, lips staying without a single bit of emotion. Imagine a dark mist surrounding the ebony combat boots that would walk forward with little to no sound. Imagine the moon’s light trying to shine down on this busy little town...yet it’s street remain dark. The male would turn into a dark ally, him being barely visible, as if he himself were the darkness. He would suddenly stop, hearing the sound of four male boots clacking around there. Perhaps even the shoes of a female. He would begin to listen closely. What would he hear?
