"The only changes I could make wouldn't help your kind! And even then, you're certainly one to talk. You're willing to allow a psychopathic monster of a being roam the galaxy, possibly even putting more races into a situation similar to your kind's, just to spite a single race."The Grey said. "What you're wanting is for my people to completely abandon your technology. That's not something any single member of my race can do! My kind's leaders have to decide that! Even then, they have no incentive to. If our positions were swapped, I wouldn't expect your government to help my people with out any reason to."The Grey said. "The only ways I can think of that might help your people out would either break the law, or make me lose my position if I were disc.... Hmmm...."The Grey said, stopping mid sentence. Soon a grin spread across his face. "I may be able to help you after all."He said.
"Huh? That recent smile you made is a bit... not sure what the word is," Latch said. "What's flooding that mind of yours?"
"While it's not precisely what you're wanting, I can fabricate some reports to my superiors saying that we must increase the prices of your kind's technology."The grey said. "It's not perfect, but it's a start."The grey said.
"Hmmm... yes, it is a start," Latch mentioned. "It has to be for more than we can afford to sell, so then we have a chance."
"That's what I intended. Should it serve until we've defeated Subject 5840?"The Grey asked.
Latch was just bluffing when he said he wanted to fight with Fenrir. After all, Fenrir destroyed his planet. But still... working with the Greys? He was still unsure.
"I don't know," Latch said. "How long do I have to think about it."
"I don't know," Latch said. "How long do I have to think about it."
"Possibly not long. Subject 5840 may have incredible power, but super speed isn't one of them. Once his energy signature has been located, the ship your friends are using should be able to catch up to Subject 5840 rather quickly."The Grey said.
"Good. Shall we head out and track down your friends now?"The grey asked.
"Maybe... but you better keep your promise," Latch said. "If I find out you lied to me, there will be hell to pay."
"I give you my word. Trust me, that's not something I give easily."The Grey said. A loud wail echoed through the forest. "Frothos!"The grey said, pulling out some kind weapon from his pocket. Another wail echoed, and eventually a few trees fell over as a Bull Frothos burst through the brush, clearly hurt. Half of its body was horribly burned, with exposed bone on its arms and half of its face. It wailed, continuing to try and escape something. "Get aboard my ship. the hatch should be open still."The Grey said.
"Right," Latch said as he followed the Grey. "I can't help but wonder what caused that creature so much pain. I thought we killed our Frothos."
"I don't know. Judging by the burns on the beast, I assume some sort of plasma weaponry or concentrated energy blasts."The Grey said. Soon, one of the Concentrated Energy Blasts the Grey mention hit the ground near the two, blasting them back. "One of those Rodents on this primitive world?"A voice growled. Soon Fenrir came out of the brush, followed by several Gangsters. "Personally I thought your people were wiped out."He snarled.
"Wait, huh? You mean we're not extinct?" Latch asked sarcastically. "Awww, I'm sorry to disappoint you wolfy. I guess the eye is quicker than the... ummm... coming up with witty phrases isn't a strong point of mine. ...Too bad a good chunk of our race survived your last attack, but with us scattered all over the galaxy, you could never finish the job."
"Is that a challenge, Rodent?"Fenrir asked. "I am fairly certain I can finish off your people. Knowing thatyour kind are still around, I very well might."Fenrir said.
"Well. ...What do I do now?" Latch whispered to the Grey. "I'm pretty sure neither of us can take him by ourselves."
"Distract him, I have an idea."The Grey whispered back. "In fact, why don't I start now with you?"Fenrir asked, as his hands began to glow orange.
"You want to finish what you started?" Latch asked. "Fine. Come on and fight me if you think you can easily wipe us out." For now, Latch started with an evasive stance. He didn't want to do anything stupid.
Fenrir shot his fists out, blasting two streams of energy at Latch.
Latch jumped onto a tree behind him. The blast hit the tree and caused it to fall down, but Latch jumped off and landed on the ground. "Aww, you get super megaton punches?" Latch asked. "All I got is this puny eye laser." Latch decided to fire the laser off at Fenrir. He was really only hoping to piss him off and throw off his strategy, but actually harming him would be a nice bonus to that.
