"...Fine, don't tell me, I just thought we could have a conversation." Alkilai replied, sensing the hostility. "But if you insist, we'll keep this strictly business, slaughter a few Demons, sit tight with the Relic while Heaven deals with Jigoku, and then go our separate ways." He said, mildly sarcastic, though for all he knew, that was probably what was going to end happening anyway.
Sam frowned. "We actually just see here to visit The human lands." She said, continuing to walk.
"I heard you the first time." Alkilai said. "It's just that we don't usually get friendly Twili's around here, you said it yourself, there are tons of humans that would strike first and ask questions later, why put yourself through that just to wander around here?"
''Because i am tired of seeing my people injured, sick and crazy because of the ones infected by the Twilight. I cannot stand to see it anymore.'' Sam answered, feeling suddenly depressed.
"So you just ditched, huh?" He said. "Well, can't say I blame you, there are some things we just have to turn our backs on for a while, permanently or otherwise." There was awkward pause. "Ah, sorry for making you talk about something so touchy, I'm not really used to small talk." He apologized.
Sam didnt answer, she was just looking at the ground in silence, still walking. The little reaper floated over Alkilai's ear and muttered: ''When she talks about that.. she just feels bad for a long time.. and after comes a rage over herself.. because she thinks it's her fault as the Twilight Princess if her people are like that..'' Soul muttered, floating back to his place. The Twili didnt hear anything, though.
'Princess... SHE'S THE FREAKING PRINCESS!!!' Alkilai exclaimed in his mind, only giving the Reaper a surprised look. Alkilai looked back at the cloaked Twili girl, he would've never guessed she was the Twilight Princess, but then again that was probably the point, walking around in Twili royal garb would practically be like painting a target on her back. Alkilai could never imagine being royalty, having the weight of an entire kingdom on your shoulder, being praised when the country prospered and blamed when it didn't, Alkilai didn't know if he'd be able to take it, and so being the princess of such a... complicated kingdom such as the Twilis, it must be a lot to handle.
There was another silence, it was one thing to not talk when you were alone, but in the company of someone else, it was just damn awkward. He tried his hand at small talk again, maybe get her mind off things. "So, you said before that you worship the Golden Goddesses, is that the same for all purified Twili?"

Sam nodded. ''The infected ones are controlled by the Twilight and cant do anything other then be controled.. Also, the non-infected have been healed by the Sols.'' Soul replied, talking at the place of the girl.
"Yeah, that much I gathered." Alkilai said. "What I don't get is why you worship the Goddesses when they're the reason you were evicted from the Mortal Realm in the first place."
''They evicted us for the protection of the mortal realm. Otherwise, they wouldnt have.'' Soul replied, turning to his human form and patting Sam in the back.
"Yeah, that's true." Alkilai admitted. "You're lucky the decision wasn't left to the Archangels, they probably would've just "smited" you all, and at least the Goddesses were kind enough to make you your own realm, they could've just as easily sent you to Hell." He said.
''Twilis dont believe in Hell.'' Soul replied, trying to comfort Sam.
"Well believe it, it's there, where do you think Demons come from?" Alkilai said. "Besides, it sounded like you knew a thing or two about Hell yourself Reaper, considering you knew who Jigoku was." He pointed out. "Speaking of which, how did a Reaper and a Twili become traveling buddies anyway?"
''I believe in Hell, but they dont. Even if it exists.'' Soul replied, serious. ''We know each other since our very childhood. I heard cries of a girl when i was learning how to be a good reaper. Then i found her and we became friends.'' The reaper explained, patting Sam in the back.
"Huh, I didn't know Reapers trained in the Twilight Realm, you learn something new everyday I guess." Alkilai stated. "Makes sense though, I mean Twili's have souls too, guess I just never figured the Reapers would have such a wide... jurisdiction." He admitted, musing on the new information for a moment before continuing. "So, if Twilis don't believe in Hell, does that mean they don't believe in Heaven either, or Elohim and the Archangels?" He asked, he felt a little guilty about prying so much, but when would he have another chance to ask a Twili about their culture without risk of being killed.
''They dont either, even if they know it exists. For them, The Golden goddesses are the only deities.'' Soul stated, as Sam looked back up, sighing.
"Fair enough, besides, as you probably gathered from meeting Michael, the Angels are jerks." Alkilai said. "With that said, I did ask them about the Golden Goddess, and get this... actually, forget it, I don't want to screw with your faith anymore than I already have, just know that even the most stubborn Archangels give the Golden Goddesses their due respect."
They nodded, Soul turning back to his reaper form and starting to float next to Sam.
The rest of the trek was made in silence, they walked the whole night and well into the next day, until finally arriving at their destination, the Capital City. The City was rather large, many of its more important buildings could be seen from afar, including the Palace and the various temples and churches. At first glance it seemed completely normal and tranquil, but Alkilai knew better, he could feel the presence of what felt like an army of Demons and other evil creatures a mile up the road and it only got stronger the closer they got.
Once they reached the boarders of the town, where the commoners and small businesses were set up, things seemed rather... odd. The streets were completely barren of any life, it was well into the day, the market district should've been flooded with people and shopkeepers selling their wares, but it was completely silent, not a soul to be seen. As they walked passed houses and shops, Alkilai caught glimpses of people through their windows, who quickly hid and pulled down their blinds as they made eye contact with him; these people were terrified, and rightfully so. "Definitely looks like we're in the right place." he thought out loud. "Come on, the only entrance to the catacombs is through the palace, hopefully it would be too much trouble to get in."

Sam nodded, Soul turning to his human form and following them. "People are terrified.." She muttered, putting of her hood.
