"Well what do you expect, like I said the only entrance to the catacombs is through the palace at the center of the city, and the Hell Gate opened right at the boarder, the Demons probably rampaged through the whole town before flooding into the catacombs to look for the "Relic", in fact I'm kind of surprised we're not seeming any real signs of...struggle." He paused momentarily as he turned the corner. It seems he had spoke to soon; before them was what seemed to be the aftermath of a battle, or by the looks of things a massacre. Broken buildings and houses, bodies of armored knights littering the floor, blood stains that looked as if the bodies were dragged away by what ever god forsaken creature happened to take some poor souls life.
He walked up to one particular body that was outfitted in slightly more regal looking armor than the rest, the Captain of the Royal Guard it seemed. "...They tried to fight back... they're lucky their priority wasn't to take lives, or else there would've been no survivors." He said in a solemn tone. He kneeled down and removed the Captain's helmet, revealing its open, terrified eyes which Alkilai closed, relaxing the face's muscles and making him look much more peaceful.

Sam sighed. "May they rest in peace.." She muttered, sad for their families.
'There'll be no "rest" where they're going.' Alkilai thought to himself, he knew what truly awaited humans in the afterlife and it seriously pissed him off. The group continued to the palace, the epicenter of the invasion, the exterior seemed mostly intact, all except for the bridge that led to the front gates.
"Did they seriously think taking out the bridge would keep the bastards out?" Alkilai mused, though in face of doom, humans will do anything to protect themselves, and their loved ones. He let out a sigh. "Guess I'll just have to jump it, you guys go on ahead, I'll meet you there." He said to his companions as he backed up a bit. He took a moment to judge the distance and once he was ready he did a running start and leaped over the moat, his whole body glowing with Holy Light that seemed to increase his air time. He gracefully landed on the other side of the divide, facing the gates that were already ripped apart. "You don't suppose the royal family is still..."

"The royal Family is probably already dead too." Sam said, teleporting over the other side.
"...Yeah, I guess you're right." Alkilai lamented, the King and Queen where good people, they certainly didn't deserve to die like this. The trio walked through the gates and into the palace, the inside was much more torn up then the outside led to believe, paintings, vases, and other antiquities smashed and broken all across the floor, with the body of a servant or two littering the halls. "The entrance to the Catacombs should be through here, I've only really been here once, so my memory might not be so reliable." He admitted as they walked down a corridor.
At the very end was a large, fancy double door, Alkilai reached up to open it, but as soon as he touched the handle, it sparked and Alkilai felt a burning sensation. "Gah!" He exclaimed as he pulled his hand away. The air around the door seemed to fluctuate, revealing an invisible force keeping it shut. "A barrier huh, and a strong one to." Alkilai lowered into a stance and reared his fist back, charging it with Holy Light. He let out a forceful punch, but all it managed to do was fluctuate the barrier once again. "Damn, its completely Angel proof to, no way we're opening it from this side." He thought for a moment, this was quite the predicament, but if the Demons went to the trouble of erecting such a powerful barrier, they must really not want to be interrupted, all the more reason to get through. Just then, Alkilai had an idea. "Hey Reaper, think you can get to the other side, as an agent of death barriers shouldn't have much effect on you. If you can make it through, then you and your friend here can strike from both sides and that should be enough to take this thing down." Alkilai explained.

''Sure i can.'' Soul replied, turning to his reaper form and going past.
"Perfect." Alkilai stated, now slightly more confident in their plan. "Alright Sam, on three I want you and Soul to attack the barrier at the exact same time, that should break it." He instructed, taking a few steps back from the door. "Alright, you guys ready... 1... 2... 3!!"
Sam standed still, closing her eyes and concentrating. As she did that, a giant black-shadowy fist came out of the shadows, smashing the door with Soul. As the giant fist striked, Sam's fist moved in the same way. She really CONTROLLED the shadows.
The two attacks collided with the barrier on both sides, greatly distorting it. Sparks flew and energy arced from the doors as the barrier began to collapse, eventually shattering before the shards dissipated from existence. "Wow, it actually worked, sweet." Alkilai said with satisfaction and slight surprise. He reached for the handle and the door opened with ease, leading to a long, winding staircase. "Alright, this should take us to the cellar, and from there we can enter the catacombs." He said, leading the way.
Sam nodded, opening her eyes and following him, as did Soul, in silence.
They walked down the staircase and into the cellar, which was just as messed up as the upper floor. At the very back of the room there was a doorway that seemed to previously hold a door, but was completely ripped to shreds, just like the front gate. "Alright, this is it..." Alkilai said, presenting the entrance to the catacombs. He could feel the Demonic Energy pouring out of it, and it was being thrown all over the place, Michael was right, the Demons really were restless. The group was about to enter the doorway when Alkilai suddenly felt a presence.
"Wait... something's here." He warned, scanning the area for the source. Moments later, small portals began to form on the ground around them, and out from them crawled ugly, almost corpse like creatures, all in tattered, blood stained clothing and wielding jagged, rusted weapons. Their eyes glowed a faint red as they focused on the trio, readying their weapons. "Ghouls huh, well, I guess it could be worse." Alkilai stated, adjusting his gauntlets for battle. "...I count ten, think you guys can handle half?"

"More then half." Sam replied, summoning her obsidian machetes and readying her Shadow powers, as Soul Did.
"Good, cause there's a lot more where these guys came from" Alkilai responded, lowering into a stance. The Ghouls let out a strange gurgling shout and rushed at the trio, swinging their weapons madly. Alkilai almost effortlessly blocked all the strikes, alone one ghoul was no problem, but in a group, of even 3 or 5, they could be troublesome, their movements were so mindless and random that it was hard to follow all of the attacks at once, but for the most part Alkilai managed.
He grabbed one of the swords mid-swing and kicked the advancing Ghoul in the chest, sending it flying back into one of its comrades. He tossed the sword to another one of Ghouls, stabbing it in the eye, causing it to stagger, allowing Alkilai to block two overhead axe swings. He grabbed one of the axes and kneed the Ghoul wielding it in the gut, causing it to let go of the weapon, which he then proceeded to hack into the head of the second Ghoul. As it howled in pain, Alkilai took its own axe and quickly stuck it into the first Ghoul that was trying to come up from behind him. With both Ghouls incapacitated, he charged his foot with Holy Light and unleashed a Crescent Kick, killing them both, and with that three more were left on his side.

Sam threw one of her machetes on a goul, it's head falling to the ground. Soul turned to his human form and kicked the other goul in the legs, making it fall, then, hitting it's head with a upercutt.
The three remaining Ghouls on his side all charged at him at once, their blames set a blaze with Hellfire. Just before their attacks landed, Alkilai leaped out of the way, causing the three swords to clash with each other. On his descent, Alkilai dropped kicked the weapons, forcing them out of their hands, and leaving them open for a powerful, Holy Light charged uppercut that sent them all flying into the air. Alkilai didn't waste any time, he charged his right gauntlet with Holy Light and threw his arm forward, causing it to fly out towards the Ghouls, attached to Alkilai's arm with a mystical chain. Said chain wrapped around the group like a lasso, ensnaring them all. Alkilai charged his other fist with a large amount of Holy Light and pulled the Ghouls back down to him, unleashing a powerful punch that upon contact seemed to make a cross shape with the Holy Light, completely obliterating the Ghouls.
The Gauntlet retracted back to Alkilai's arm, as if it never left; he let out a sigh. "Well, I guess the element of surprise is out, the Demons definitely know we're here now." He said.

''We were supposed to be sneaky?'' The duo asked, tilting their head in confusion. ''We can be sneaky, but it's too late now.''
"Nah, don't worry about it, they probably knew the moment we broke through the barrier anyway." Alkilai said. "Guess we just stick to the original plan, secure the "Relic" and waste any Demon that gets in our way, come on."
''Okay'' They replied, starting to walk in silence, weapons and powers still ready.
They descended into the catacombs, the only light available being the Holy Light that was radiating of Alkilai's arms. The tunnels were dark and murky, there were graves all around them, some not even sealed revealing the rotting remains. Alkilai focused, trying to more accurately sense the flow of Demonic Energy.
"...They've been here for a while, so they've probably checked most of the Catacombs already, our best bet is to go where they're currently searching." He stated, leading the way to where he sensed the most Demons. As they walked down the tunnel, they heard rustling coming from inside the walls and suddenly some of the graves bursted open, the dead bodies of royal servants past rising and turning towards them. "A great, undead." He complained, lowering into a stance before one of the undead bodies rushed at him. He dodged one of their swipes and grabbed its head with his hand that was engulfed in Holy Light, which then spread throughout the undead's body, expelling a mass of black white energy. "Or maybe not, their just dead bodies being possessed by Poltergeists." He concluded. He continued to combat them, grabbing them and expelling the Poltergeists from within them.
"Damn, there's so much Demonic Energy in this place its hard to anticipate ambushes like this... guess I've got no choice." Alkilai lamented. "Sam, Soul, I'm going to exorcise all of the Poltergeists from the catacombs, its going to take some time so I need you to cover me, think you can do that?" he asked, expelling more Poltergeists.

''Aye aye, Sir!'' They replied, nodding and smirking. Sam summoned her machetes, Soul summoned his death scythe and they tryed to cover Alkilai from any backstabs. ''Poltergeists are ghosts?.. right?..'' Asked Sam, maybe having a plan for the bodies to stop. ''I could go in the world of nothingness.. or the ghost world, for it's right name to attack them easily..''
