Yvette knelt down, her eyes were on the floor and the shoes of the holy man standing before her. She barely remembered to say ‘Yes’ to his questions. She was not meant for this. All at once the weight of the world seemed to crash down on her, but it was only a crown. It set upon her head perfectly. “Arise!” the holy man said, “Queen Sophia III!” She rose and turned to face her subjects, they cheered. She smiled and made her way down the aisle of the Great Cathedral. She had received a new name, well two new names. Sophia was only the first name, the second was a nickname given to her by her people. It was, The Dead Queen, because no one believed she would last a week. This was not meant to be her life. She nervously glanced at her bodyguard as she made her way to her private chambers for reflection. Her bodyguard followed her, gently closing the doors behind her.
"It is not the end of the world M'lady." Her bodyguard spoke softly, almost too softly to hear. He had been assigned to her a few weeks ago because all the other guards were all too scared to approach her, which was the whole point of the job. Keep the queen safe, even if it meant risking your life.
There was no nametag on his vest, but the whole kingdom knew of the guard who served The Dead Queen. He had even gotten his own nickname, The Unholy Guard Enzo, when she had been given her name. But names and positions didn't matter to Enzo, all that mattered was keeping his Queen safe, even if it meant his life.
"Do you need anything M'lady?" He asked, the concern in his voice obvious.

"No, not the end, but it seems like the beginning of the new one," Sophia said. She began to pace around the room, ringing her hands. "I believe that it was time for the Dead Queen to rise." She said it in a tone that denoted a resignation to a fact. She had never had the flare for dramatics like her mother had, but it seemed like doing nothing would end her life much quicker.
"Perhaps a little theatrics would be beneficial," she had read nearly every play in her father's library. Then she looked over at her body guard for the first time, desperate for guidance.
"Whatever you want M'lady. The people will respect whatever path you may take, because you are their Queen." He stated the fact calmly, letting it gently enter her twisting thoughts.
"If you want, you are allowed a day off to learn the ropes and visit your people. Its a tradition that has been ignored the past couple generations but I'm sure nobody would mind."

"I think this is the sort of job that will take a lifetime to learn," she said with a smile. "However, to know the people is another matter entirely." She was resolved to know the heart of her people and to learn what manner of ruler they needed. Then she would become that ruler.
"So is that a yes to visiting your people?" Enzo raised an eyebrow, curious as to what the new queen would want to do. He would respect her wishes either way. Whether she decided to stay in the castle or go out to her people for a day of exploring and getting to know her people.
