Alex grinned at his friends as they enjoyed their well deserved victory feast. Nearby, John the satyr was quickly eating through the mile high stack of veggies and tin cans on his plate while still keeping an eye on Spike. Feeling eyes on him, the dog sniffed John's furry leg then licked it, causing John to jump from his seat with a loud "Bla-ha-ha!" Alex laughed as he helped the about to faint satyr back to his seat. "Easy, goat chin. Spike's a cool dude, no worries man. We're-" Alex stopped mid-sentence, his eyes glowing white. In his mind, he saw pictures unfold like a dream. In his mind, he saw a man shoot down from the sky and land at the camp entrance. However, John put a hand on Alex's shoulder before the images stopped, causing him to blink and snap back to reality. "Whoa, are you ok Sunshine?" the satyr asked nervously. Alex was sweating and shaking but nodded. "I-I'm cool dude," he panted. "I just had a vision from dad. It normally only happens when I sleep, but this looked important. Somebody's coming. We gotta tell Chiron and get outside to meet him." Alex said before standing on weak legs, John helping him get his balance. Moments later, there was a soft thud and a man was standing at the center of the camp. "Like come on, lets go," John urged to Willow and Sam as he helped Alex to the table where Chiron and Dion sat.
Willow blinked, looking down at her hellhound first. He was growling and snarling, drool dripping off of his mouth. She slowly standed, ordering him to stay before going to the two and grabbed Alex's other arm, her eyes staring intensely at the stranger. She put on her poker face before dragging him towards the head table.
Samus just stood up, not arguing and following them in silence. ''So.. that's how gods really look like?'' She thought, a curious and confused look on her face. But after all, she already saw a god; Her father. She just, didnt remember it at all. Pictures in books are the only thing that gave her an idea about their figures.
Sam had every reason to be confused. The person standing in front of them didn't look anything like you'd think a greek god would. He was a tall, thin man in his early 30's with brown eyes and wavy salt and pepper coloured hair. His elf-ish features and sly grin made him look younger than he really was. He was dressed in a blue and white track suit that had an omega on the jacket pocket. He also wore blue Converse hi-tops that had white dove-like wings sprouting from the ankle area. Alex, who had gotten his strength back, knew the man and went to greet him. "Sup, uncle Wingfoot?" he asked with a grin as he gave the god a fist pound. Alex looked around and saw that the girls were confused so he decided to make an introduction. "Girls, this is my uncle, Lord Hermes." he said with a grin. John, who had met the god when Alex went on his big quest a year ago, nervously trotted forward and shook the gods hand. "Like hi Lord Hermes, good to see ya again." he said with a small smile. "Hey Johnny," the god said with a smile. "I'm afraid I can't stay long, just business." with that, the god snapped snapped his fingers and his clothes shimmered and changed from running attire to a postman's uniform. The messenger bag over his shoulder read "OPS: Olympian postal service." Hermes opened the bag and pulled out three letters. He handed the golden one with a lyre surrounded by a laurel wreath seal on it to Alex, the one stamped with the seal of Hades to Willow, and the one with the seal of Olympus to Sam. Power radiated from the envelops. Hermes cleared his throat "You have been summoned to this months Olympian council. Prince Alex, you've been before so tell Chiron you'll escort the others. The appointment time and the individual details of why you've been summoned are in your fathers letters. Gotta run, later Sunshine." the god said with a grin and a wave before he ran, kicked off the ground hard, and flew away. Alex looked at his letter then back to his friends. "We gotta tell Chiron what's going on." he said in an almost serious tone.
Willows jaw fell when the entire scene played before her before looking at the letter in her hands. She held it carefully, staring at the symbol on the front of it. She was speechless. She was afraid to open it. She looked at the group in front of her before looking back at the letter, expecting that it was a joke. "Yea... Let's go..." She said quietly as she stared at the letter.
''Please tell me, what's this Olympian Council? I never heard of it.. i just heard of the Olympus.. nothing more..'' The young girl said, following them but still starring at the letter awkwardly. ''Is it from.. my dad?'' Samus whispered, to herself, still walking and reading over and over the stamp that was on the letter.
Alex eagerly tore open his dad's letter and started to read. Meanwhile, John gave Sam a brotherly smile trotted up to her. "Well Sammie, the council is a monthly meeting of the gods. They meet at Olympus, the like meeting point of their awesomeness." he said as he twirled his wispy goatee around his finger. Suddenly, the power coming from the letter in the young girl's hands overwhelmed the satyr and he let out a loud "Bla-ha-ha!" Lucky for him, Alex came to his rescue. "Dudes, you should really open those. They're from our 'rents. They're major important." he said as he placed his own back in his envelop. "By the way, get your stuff. We're going to the empire state!" he called as he went to his own cabin to pack supplies. John let out another bleat and tried to flee to the woods, but Alex cut in with their empathy link. 'Don't even think about it, goat dude. You're comin' too so gab your stuff.' his friend said in his mind.
Willow sighed nervously as she opened the letter, walking towards her cabin as she waved goodbye to her friends. She read as she walked, humming to herself as she went. She was more than nervous as she packed. She called Spike and ordered him to disappear and go to the underworld. She went to the main gate, bag on shoulder and sword in her pocket. She looked again at the letter, then looked at the ground, completely confused.
Samus headed towards her cabin with no questions. She opened the letter and readed it, packing stuff into her backpack and coming outside of her cabin after about 25 minutes. ''Empire State?.. That's not the Olympus..'' The young girl said, waiting outside for her friends, backpack on back.
Alex didn't take long to get what he needed from the Apollo cabin. All he brought with him was his guitar and a 24 pack of diet cokes. He'd also changed his shirt to a regular orange sleeveless and put on his sunglasses. When Sam mentioned Olympus Alex couldn't hold back a laugh. "Oh yeah it is. Olympus is waaaay above the empire state building. It's on like the 600th floor." he explained with a grin. Soon after, John hobbled over to them in his human disguise. "Ok, I'm ready." he said almost miserably. The satyr knew that being called to the council meant trouble. Alex, feeling his friend's nervousness, clapped him on the shoulder. "Take it easy goat dude, everythings cool. I'll drive easy...sorta." he said with a bright smile. "Now to get our ride." Alex said before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a set of golden car keys. "Might wanna close your eyes dudes." he said before pressing a button on the keys. Moments later, a ball of golden light with flames trailing behind it shot across the sky and landed in front of them, heat coming from it in waves. When the light died down a shining golden Mustang was parked in the still smoldering grass. Alex eagerly jumped in the driver's seat. He loved this car. John, having only seen the car once and never ridden in it before bleated "Shoooott gun!" and slid into the front passenger seat.
Willow blinked after opening her eyes, tilting her head when she was the car in front of them. She shrugged before getting in, seating befind Alex. "I'm not looking forward to being so high up, I hate heights." She mumbled as she buckled up and pulled out her Odyssey book and leaned back to read. "Let's play a game. Who can guess what is going on. In my letter, Father's message was brief but urgent. He didn't tell me what was happening but he wasn't pleased. Something must have happened to get him out of his kingdom!" She smirked, looking out of the window. "Then again, I'm happy to leave this place, even if its for a small time."
''My letter talked about..'' Samus said, trying to read. ''Y-yu.. yo-you, have to c-o.. come at the E-emp.. empi-empire stat-state..'' She just couldnt read it correctly. The young girl cursed and a sudden look of anger could be seen on her face. ''I hate reading!'' Samus said, sighing in fustration and looking away as she was sitting in the car, behind John.
John glanced over his shoulder and shot Sam a sympathetic smile. He knew from 'growing up' with Alex that dyslexia was a real pain in the ass for half-bloods. "like give it here, I'll read it." the satyr said as he reached hand back for the letter. John's eyes scanned the letter before starting to read: "Dear, Miss Grace: I request your presence at this months Olympian council meeting. Go to 600th floor of the Empire state building. Address 350 5th Ave, New York, NY 10118." It was signed at the bottom "With love, Father." and had a cloud with a lightning bolt coming from it drawn at the bottom. "Mine says pretty much the same. I've been before and its not as up tight as it sounds....or at least my dad isn't." he said with a chuckle. "Don't fret Sparky." John said with a kind wink.
Willow looked towards Sam, giving her a smile before looking at her book again. "Let's get this show on the road. I don't think they will wait for us if we are late." She looks at the road in front of them. "How fast can this thing go, Sunshine? Fast as the speed of light?"
''Was that a bad pun?'' Samus answered, still kind of irritated because of the reading. ''What are they going to talk about?..'' She asked, curious about anything and everything about Olympus. ''I mean.. i almost dont know anything about Olympus.. since the info is in books and.. well you already guessed it..''
Alex laughed then put the key in the ignition and made the car roar to life. "Yeah Will, that's how fast she goes so everybody buckle up." he said proudly. He revved the engine a few times, causing the tires to smoke. After a few minutes Alex yelled "Hang on to your lunches dudes!" and gave the car gas. It shot across the camp, lifting high into the air just before it hit a tree. Said tree, who was actually a nymph, shook her branch at them angrily as the car few away from camp with fire trailing behind. In the front passenger seat, John let out a loud "Bla-ha-ha!!!" and covered his eyes. Knowing how panicked his friend could get, Alex slowed down a little. "We're cool now Johnny, just had to get her going." he told his friend with a grin. The satyr uncovered his eyes and let out an amazed "Duuude!" at the view he saw as they tore across the New York skyline. After what seemed like only a few minutes, the car touched down a block or two away from the building. Alex got out and grinned at the building then motioned for his friends. Once everyone was out, Alex clicked a button on his keys and the car rose into the air and rocketed off again, back to whence it came. The group walked until they got to the entrance then Alex turned to his friends, his face a little serious. "Ok dudes, don't freak out when you see the place. Try not to say anything to HIM unless HE talks to you." Alex warned, avoiding his grandfather's name on purpose. The group walked into the building and Alex directed them to the elevators, where a man behind a counter sat with his hat low on his eyes. Alex tapped the counter and cleared his throat, causing the man to look up and smirk when he saw Alex and John. "Hiya, fellas." he said warmly. "Hey Barry." the two greeted calmly. The man's face became confused when he saw Sam and Willow. "What's with the half-pint half-bloods, Sunshine? Thought you were here to see your old man." Barry asked as he gave the group a questioning look. Alex reached into his pocket and placed the letter from his dad in front of him, motioning for the girls to do the same. "We're here for an audience with Lord Zeus at this months council. This is his daughter Sam." Alex said with a nod to the young girl. Barry the guard gave a sort of bow and said "Go ahead, top floor." The group made its way into the elevator and Alex pressed the button with a gold omega symbol on it, sending th elevator skyward. ,]ter, the elevator stopped and opened up to a marble walkway with celestial bronze braziers on each side that lead to a large pavilion with what looked like a large marble temple in the center. Alex led the group across the walkway and into the temple. The room was massive and had 12 thrones the size of the one at the Lincoln memorial arranged in an inverted U. Each throne was different, representing the currently 10 foot tall god or goddess who sat there. Apollo, who sat on a throne of polished gold listening to his ipod, shot his son a wink. Next to him on a silver throne sat his sister Artemis, who looked like the worlds tallest 12 year old. Next to her was a woman with blonde hair and intelligent grey eyes, the goddess Athena. At her side was beautiful woman with blonde hair and sultry eyes, Aphrodite. Next to her sat a misshapen man with a flaming beard, her husband Hephaestus. At his side was scowling man with flames for eyes, Ares god of war. Next to him sat a god they'd met before, Hermes. At his side, sitting on a wooden throne wrapped in grapevines, was Mr. D. To his right was a man seated in a fisherman's chair holding a bronze trident with glowing blue tips, Poseidon: God of the seas. Next to him was a man with cold eyes, long dark hair and a well trimmed beard who was dressed in a flowing back robe, Willow's father: Hades lord of the dead. At his side was a man on a platinum throne dressed in a dark blue pinstripe suit and sporting marbled grey-black hair and a well trimmed beard, Zeus Lord of the sky. The king of the gods studied the group with stormy eyes, pausing when he saw Sam. "Step forward, Samus." he said in a thunderous voice, though it held no anger. Next to him, a woman with a throne topped with peacock feathers, his wife Hera scowled at the group without speaking.
Willow, pretended to zip up her mouth, nodding at him from the back seat. She tried to stay calm and cool, but inside, she was freaking out. She took a steady breath when the car stopped, slowly getting out and follows the others. When they stood in front of Barry, her eyes narrowed at him before going into the elevator, clenching onto the railing, blushing in shame of her phobia. When it stopped, she took another breath, face becoming unreadable as they walked out and into the throne room. Her eyes briefly went to her father before staring ahead, watching Sam step forward.
Samus looked around her, amazed by everything she was seeing. Her heart was going faster then it ever did. She saw her father again, she saw the other gods, she was in Olympus! ''Darn.'' She cursed, in her head, still starring at all the gods. ''They dont look like they like me.'' The young girl thought, sarcasticly, sticking her toungue out and sighing nervously. ''What am i even supposed to do?'' Samus thought, again, confused. ''What's up?'' The young girl said, outloud, trying to relax the atmosphere. Even thought Alex said to probably not do that, she did, not knowing to do anything else. ''Y'all not so sociable..'' She added, sarcasticly, seeing they werent talking after her.
As soon as Sam spoke, Alex face palmed and john let out a nervous "Bla-ha-ha!" Some of the Olympians scowled at the girl's tone and Hera grumbled about insolence, while Apollo and Hermes were trying not to laugh. After a moment, Zeus raised is hand and muttered "Silence." in ancient Greek. The lord of the sky then looked at his daughter with slight regret before saying "Step forward, Samus." yet again. Behind her, John was shaking a little and Alex kept his eyes on his dad. Nearby, Hades sat on his black marble throne eyeing his daughter with a hint of curiosity.
Willow struggled not to smirk nor snicker at Sam's relaxed atmosphere, finding her way of speaking towards the gods hilarious. She pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head, trying to gain back the serious feeling in the room. She looked up at Gods briefly and quickly, not wanting to be caught making eye contact, and studies each one of them. She smirked at Hera's attitude, expecting this would happen because she always had a loathing for the children of her 'cheating' husband. She prayed that Sam wouldn't make a bigger problem by confronting Hera. When her eyes made contact with her fathers, she just blinked at him and studied him for a few, long minutes before turning back to Zeus and his daughter.
